Renaissance New York Chelsea Hotel

The staff was very friendly. A gentleman made sure to greet me with some water as I checked in. I was asked if I would like to switch to a king bedroom with a better view…which was excellent. The mattress was very comfortable. I liked the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Also, the location of the hotel is good. Easy access to great areas of the city and close to our daughter’s work.

We were not given vouchers to use for the $30 a day. I know everything in New York is expensive, but the breakfast buffet was too expensive, and we had no voucher to use for it.

Breakfast was great. However a little pricey. And unsure how the $25 destination fee worked with that. Didn’t like that we had to buy Wi-Fi. Never had a hotel not offer it with the stay.

The location was absolutely amazing. I have travelled to NYC a number of times and I think that this midtown location is ideal - just located off Fifth Avenue a few steps away from the Flatiron building. The fact that it was on a side street made it quiet at night and easy to sleep. Comfortable room, and a decent size for New York! Excellent value for money!

We did request to have out room serviced upon arrival and each day we noted that there was no room service/changing of towels so we had to repeatedly ask for this every morning of our stay. Not a huge deal of course, and would certainly stay again.

Renovations to the bathrooms were lovely. The shower floor needs rubber strips to avoid slipping. Otherwise set up is wonderful. INSTRUCTIONS on how to use the coffee machine would have been helpful I put a full bottle of water in and it was TOO much, made an unnecessary mess. View was wonderful, located far enough from street to hear noise and low enough from roof not to hear the night club. Paul and Miriam were STELLAR and made any issues I had negligible, They were eager to help, and it is appreciated. Whilst here, took advantage of a great Burger Pop Up by @Gothamburgersocialclub, caught a terrific Pub meal around the corner from the hotel @JJKinahans and took a short cab ride for the BEST Lobster roll in town at @PearlsOysterBar in the West Village!

One bed light didn't work. Toilet didn't flush well ( 2-3 flushes were often needed), A/C unit wasn't uniform through out the room... very cool by the door and bathroom...but on side of bed nearest the window, it was warm. And it was ONLY low 70's to high 60's outside - may be malfunctioning? Shower floor is slippery for me , as I have poor balance. It was also so for a guest who has very good balance...

Good selection and variety, welcoming and polite staff. Reception went the extra mile to ensure satisfaction. Very neat and tidy, tables cleared very quickly and reset. Room was clean and tidy although a little concerned when we spotted some damage to drawer front. Needed to request net curtains to ensure some privacy. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well. My wife, who is very particular, loved to house shampoo and conditioner, good quality.

Found the $30 fee a little confusing. Would have liked a refrigerator. Not anything else to complain about.

Good location, Nice and clean rooms

The use of elevators and rooftop is restricted. The rooftop is not part of the hotel, opens at night with reservation only but uses the elevators of the hotel. During two days of our stay, of the four elevators, one was out of service, and another was for the exclusive use of the rooftop. The whole hotel has only two elevators to use causing long lines of waiting.

Breakfast was included as part of the hotel daily charge. It was really basic buffet style, good but not great. I wouldnt have paid extra for what they offer.

There is no fridge in the room and no drinks besides package tea and coffee, 1 of each only.

Staff was great, property felt newly renovated, and it is in the best part of town. The resort fee actually includes great perks which made our trip even better. The hotel even left us champagne and treats for my husbands birthday. The entire staff from the moment we walked in were top notch.

Had to request a refill for toiletries in our room, and one of the elevators broke down with us in it on our departure day.

it was clean & cozy.

the beds were not full size they were large twin sized beds. It took almost 3 hours for our room to be ready for check in.
