Holiday Inn Express New York City Chelsea, an IHG Hotel

This was a well located hotel to visit the midtown and lower Manhattan. It is at the top end of the Chelsea area so it doesn’t have the charm of the area but on the plus side it means it is located closer to the main attractions in midtown. Really friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast with plenty of choice and clean rooms, although it’s New York so they are never going to be big but they are enough to rest your head after a long day sightseeing. This hotel included breakfast and when you look at how much eating out is now in New York, this deal saved us a fortune especially when you can look up to $4.50 for a croissant. If it was your first visit to New York and you are on a bit of a budget then I would recommend this hotel.

Noise from the corridors ,often from other guests, the room doors could do with some noise insulation around the edges as you could see the lights from the hallway clearly down 1 side of the door, hence also letting in quite a bit of noise.

Great location, friendly staff and good breakfast. Bed was comfy and there was a good shower.

The property was very clean. I enjoy going to the pool and workout room.

it may just be a minor thing but, when I got down for breakfast there was no eggs or sausage in the containers. And the two staff members are just standing there talking. I asked for eggs and what they did was bring out fresh scrambled eggs and dump them in the chafing dish which had old dried up pieces of scrambled egg in it and then just mixed it together. if it wasn’t for the breakfast issue I would’ve given this hotel a 10. I don’t know why they did not switch out the chafing dish with the new eggs.

The location was perfect to explore the city. We were able to walk around the majority of the city with easy access to subway, train or bus services. We could not fault the breakfast - there was so many delicious options each day. The beds were comfy and clean.

There were no appliances in the room, specifically a hair dryer, kettle, mini fridge. There was also no ability to make complimentary drinks after the breakfast period. Hot water was offered in a communal space with no tea or coffee immediately provided.

Close to many main attractions of NYC from a walking distance. Very friendly staff! Check-in and check-out process was very quick and efficient.

The hotel seems a bit dated but still very well mantained. The room can be a little bit cramped. Not too much closet space for hanging. However, everything you need in the room for the price paid.

Breakfast was the real reason we selected this hotel. There were several at a similar price point but a full breakfast made the difference, saving one one meal a day makes a huge difference on what is an expensive trip in an expensive city. The hotel was generally great, the care package of snacks on Friday and water bottles were also very helpful.

Mini fridge and microwave would have been great but also there isn’t a ton of space so understandable.

Staff was very friendly, location is good - walkable distance from subway, Penny station, High line park and even to Times Square a few minutes more, the bed was very conformable and breakfast was also good (a bit small area, but I could always sit when I got my BF without not have to wait longer - they do have extra tables outside, but due to weather we couldn`t sit there this time). I would definitely stay there again.

Shower was just ok, sometimes the hot water took very long to come but it came with a few minutes, a part of that nothing else.

This was a really nice property within walking distance to a lot of attractions, the front desk staff were super friendly and accommodating during the entire stay. Upon arrival we asked for extra towels and they were immediately sent up, the room was clean. The rooms are a little cramped but it’s NYC and the price/location was great. There was a toilet issue but it was fixed within the same day and since covid clean up is only available upon request which they did send up when asked to pick up trash and dirty towels which was appreciated. The free breakfast is bagged with multiple choices of granola bars, yogurt, fruit cups and cereal and apple juice/orange juice. These options are in place because of covid, we were just happy to get something. Please remember they’re doing their best and don’t have control over it. So be kind! Overall a great stay and would come here again!

Breakfast had a lot of options that were all pretty good. Location was great and close to a lot of public transit! There was even a complimentary welcome snack box which was a nice surprise.

Rooms weren't the most well maintained - rust in the bathroom, tear in the chair, etc. However, it was mainly cosmetic. One weird thing was that the duvet didn't have buttons to close it so the comforter was exposed. Knowing that the comforter doesn't usually get washed I had to make sure to fold down the duvet over it as I slept.

Everything went fine. It was not obvious how to get the shower to work, but someone came right away and showed me how to do it. The hotel has a good location, with easy access to both the 7th and 8th Avenue subway lines, as well as Penn Station.

I think there might be some kind of instruction in the rooms as to how to get the shower to turn on. I've never encountered what they have (it involves pulling down on a ring under the faucet).
