I loved it because it is colourful, quirky and very, very friendly. As a solo traveller most of the time (yay retirement), feeling safe, comfortable and looked after is number one for me. Junction Motel met the criteria. Plus, it has personality. There is so much to look at, from lovely artworks to shop dummies to an abundance of succulents. This is not a boring, sterile come and go motel. This is a stop and linger and relax whilst having fun.
My only disappointment was that the restaurant is only open for functions. But the room service breakfast certainly hit the spot.

The first view shocks you and it takes a little while to accept the courtyard decor. I would call it eclectic art. Lots of items have been recycled and "upcycled" into a strange mixture of mannequins, mixed chairs, pictures and plants that grows on you once you settle down and look at it. However inside the rooms, it is much quieter colouring with tasteful pictures, pale paint and much easier on the eyes. All very well fitted up kitchenettes, bathrooms and cosy comfortable beds. Good wifi and parking outside your room. Peaceful quiet night, slept very well. Breakfasts could be ordered to rooms but we did not bother. Check-in allowed from 12 noon, really good.
This is a 1950's motel that has been upcycled rather than upgraded. The bathroom fittings and layout are old but clean and efficient.

We did not opt to have breakfast here during our stay. The location was a lot better than we thought especially after having some last minute issues with our previous accomodation and being able to book this place on the same day was very reassuring and helpful. It was only a 20 minute drive from Hobart CBD and grocery stores/cafes which was easy accessible.
The only issue that we encountered was with the toilets - it took several flushes over an extended period of time and the toilet continued to make noise which was a little difficult to tolerate overnight due to the noise. But other than that, everything else was exceptional - facilities, location and service.

Well I booked this accommodation for the unusual experience and that is what we had. I knew what was coming up when we arrived there were 6 of us but my sister didn't know and she couldn't stop laughing. It was an unusual place but the whole experience was fun. Bit sad the restaurant wasn't opened but understand. The owner has created an artistic experience the rooms are all different and there are unique collectibles everywhere, now I mean everywhere outside on your verandah are is a special experience. The rooms are not cluttered but at first look you do wonder. Everything is clean our rooms were spacious except for the twin bedroom a bit tight. We were so glad we stayed and the owner was lovely. One thing I want to mention is the room info book was very comprehensive on information about things to do in the area. We did it all on the recommendation from the book, such a historic place. Oh if you aren't there on the tour days for the mental asslyum we called and did a private tour on a day that suited us. Thanks for the special experience we loved it.
Can't think of anything perhaps the cleaner was a little too keen in moving my friend out before 10 on day we left but minor

The quirkiest hotel I have ever stayed in and I loved it. Each room is different... makes me want to go back again to try another one. Don't judge a book by its covers.. it was comfortable..quiet and clean and very conveniently located. Great price point.
The lighting in the room could have been a bit brighter and I would have loved a second mirror outside the bathroom area.

What a fabulous little place to stay. The decor in the rooms and outside each room is unique, carefully selected and very quirky. We absolutely loved seeing all the little extras around the place. Tim was a great host! We chatted with him for a while when we checked in and he highlighted some of the places we might visit. The rooms were super clean and had great little extras such as a chocolate treat. If you are in New Norfolk, you must stay here!

This is an old school 1960s motel with rooms opening onto a shared veranda and parking at the front. Instead of modernising, the owners have remodeled it in a colourful retro manner that is very funky. It was a comfortable and unique place to stay and the price was appropriate
I liked pretty much everything. I suspect that the walls could be quite thin although I didn’t have anyone in the next room to be sure about that

A interesting motel nice and clean and comfortable. Separate toilet in the bathroom area. Just what we needed close to Hobart before we fly out. A underated motel. We will definitely stay again if we visit the area. Don't forget to have a look around New Norfolk town. Amazing history complete with friendly helpful people.

TIM N BEN HAVE A VERY DIFFERENT PLACE! INTERESTING THE UNUSUAL DECOR, PLANTS, COLOUR SCHEMES. TIM PROVIDED USEFUL INFORMATION ON FORWARD TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS. WE WOULD HAVE LIKED A LONGER STAY, BUT STILL HAD A LONG ROAD AHEAD. HAD WE KNOWN THE FLOODS WOULD CANCEL "SPIRIT" SAILINGS AND WE WOULD LOSE 8 DAYS WE COULD HAVE STAYED LONGER AND RELAXED. A WEEK LATER WE MET PEOPLE WHO KNEW THE JUNCTION AND SPOKE HIGHLY OF IT AND THE HOSTS.

Location to Mt Field National Park. It’s quirky, cheery outside decorations around the units. Comfy bed and great shower
Rm 29 - a slat on the vertical window blind is missing and needs replacing for privacy. - One side of the bed’s electric blanket isn’t working.
