Rooms were tidy, clean and quiet with Sheridan towels in the bathroom. Although we prefer a firmer bed then the soft mattress we slept on, we ended up having a restful sleep and had no body soreness when we awoke. The provided breakfast served by Penelope (the owner) exceeded our expectations. We started off with cereal, warmed fruits and yoghurt. Also, sliced sourdough, fruit bread, coffee & tea were on the counter (with a toaster) and a carafe of orange juice and berry jam were on our table. Next, we were served freshly made scrambled eggs with feta on sourdough with baby English spinach leaves and beetroot relish on the side - it was delicious. As for the location, it is a small town, so everything is close by. What is handy is that the pub is within working distance allowing one to enjoy a drink (or two) with their pub meal.

Lovely interesting historic building, very cool. Our room was comfortable, clean, with ensuite and a kitchenette. Penelope the owner and host was delightful! Friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Excellent value with generous breakfast included and gluten free requirement was no problem either. Excellent budget option! 👍

Nothing to complain about! It's a very old building with creaks and some quirkiness but that was part of the charm for us.

We booked this room for my 88 year old father to stay on his holiday from QLD as we are in the middle of renovating. Penelope was absolutely amazing as a hostess. His mobility is not great so she brought him breakfast in his room every morning and they were as incredible as all the reviews stay. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. He had a lovely stay and I am. so grateful to Penelope for caring for him as she did.

I liked everything.

On arrival you think you've made a mistake as renovations are going on and the outsides a bit messy but the inside is lovely and quaint and decorated excellent. The hostess Penelope is warm and friendly and the breakfast is excellent. The beds are comfortable and the room we had was very spacious. It's an easy walk to the The Bush Inn which served us a wonderful meal. Loved our stay there and would highly recommend a visit.

This was our first time staying at The Old Colony Inn. Lovely, historic property and warmly welcomed by our hosts and their lovely dogs. Our room was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. Breakfast was very filling and the woodfire was a lovely touch. As mentioned, being historic, it has its creaks and other noises during the windy night we experienced. It adds to the charm of the property.

There was no aspect of our stay that we did not like.

The Old Colony Inn is an absolute treat. The renovated rooms are situated in parts of the original barn area. Our hostess was just wonderful and any request was immediately taken care of. New Norfolk is such a historic town and this accommodation is so well appointed that its worth visiting for a weekend retreat. We loved the soft bed, the bathroom and all that the room had to offer, plus a sumptuous breakfast included in the price. First class accommodation, we will visit again!

Nothing!

The location was within walking distance of the town centre of New Norfolk. The room and facilities were excellent. Breakfast was served by the host / owner and was outstanding. The host was very informative about the area and overall most welcoming and proud of her ( and partner’s ) efforts in setting up the BnB.

All good. There was nothing that caused us any concern.

Very warm and comfortable rooms with everything you need in a BnB. Breakfast in the morning was great with toast, cereal and beautiful scrambled eggs. The courtyard would be lovely on a warm day. Walking distance to The Bush Inn, a great pub for dinner, or into town, though even in late March many shops weren’t open on Tues/Wed. Hosts are lovely!

Great location. Full of charm, Penelope was a wonderful host. The inclusion of a beautiful fresh breakfast of fruit, yogurt cooked eggs with sourdough bread was a lovely bonus. Rooms were well appointed and Penelope kindly let our teenage son stay for free in our room.

Everything was lovely, I personally prefer a firmer mattress but that was the only thing.

We felt it important that visitors recognise the context of their visit. The Old Colony Inn is among the longest continuous-running inns in Australia. The current owners are very committed to upgrading the property, and have made considerable progress in this regard. Their efforts should be respected and encouraged by guests. Maybe the owners should illustrate their journey to date, and future plans, so that visitors can better appreciate the efforts being made.
