We really wanted to stay in some form of a hotel or ryokan with tatami mats and Japanese futons during our trip to Japan. This really was exactly what we were looking for in terms of a reasonable price-point and wonderful experience. They do offer futons with thicker padding for foreigners who weren't used to this style of bedding, but we opted for traditionally thinner padding and it was still comfortable. Our room had a slightly obscured, but visible view of Mt. Fuji (note that we didn't pay extra for a room with a view, which I think is an option) They have a gorgeous viewing area on the roof where we had such a breathtaking view of the mountain, one of my favorite parts of the stay. Some highlights are also kimonos that you can personally select colors and styles to wear around the hotel (1 per person), the opportunity to rent out a private onsen for an hour (not expensive and a great way to experience as a foreigner or in a group who aren't fully comfortable with public onsens yet), and a tea set to brew your own green tea (which we brought up to the rooftop viewing area to drink and take in the view) All the staff were super helpful and friendly and it was really easy to catch the hotel shuttle from the bus station to the hotel. Kawaguchiko really was a lovely area to visit in proxy to Mt. Fuji. It wasn't congested with loads of travelers, even though the station and some tourist spots can get quite crowded. There are more "city" vibes with restaurants and cafes closer to the station than the hotel in walking distance, but it was totally worth it.

I thought it was a bit of a shame that the option to have a kaiseki meal wasn't available as an add-on to any reservation and instead, could only be booked with certain rooms. They seemed to have a strict policy for it only coming with certain reservations and not accepting walk-ins to the restaurant for this option, which makes sense in terms on preparation but was just a bit of a bummer since we didn't want to pay for a higher reservation and just wanted to experience a kaiseki meal at a ryokan.

- They had a shuttle to pick and drop you from the station. - The welcome was the hotel is warm and lovely with the staff being quite accommodating basis availability. I was there for one night and had considered a less expensive hotel but this turned out to be well worth it - They booked me a private Onsen bath followed by a dinner service - both experiences I won’t forget! lovely lovely experience and wonderful staff (some speak English)

The balcony was not clean - tiny bathrooms

Postcard shots from almost every angle at this property. Rooms felt authentic and complemented the landscape very well. Comfortable beds and an abundance of scenic walks. The staff was attentive and helpful when a hornet got in our shower cubicle from the vents. We were moved to another room when more hornets returned. For vengeance, I assume.

This is a pristine area with interesting wildlife. Worth bearing in mind that there are giant hornets living near you if you stay at this residence. Do not stay here if you are deadly allergic to stings, have a phobia of stinging insects or are an allergy-prone individual. I can't say I didn't like the giant Asian hornets that visited my bathroom via the vents. But I can't say I liked them either.

This was exceptional in every way - one of the highlights of my trip. I have stayed in many Onsen and near Mount Fuji before. This was top notch at a very fair price. Hot spring switches from male / female each day so you get to experience two different set of baths. Also you can rent a private bath overlooking Mount Fuji for 40 minutes. The views of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko are spectacular. The staff were so accommodating and easy. They let us add dinner after the reservation. The dinner was the best I've had at a hot spring in Japan. Definitely get the dinner! Also did not get the breakfast which is smart so that you can have an additional time soaking in the healing waters while looking at Mount Fuji. Requested a renovated room and they were so easy to accommodate at no extra price. The staff speak beautiful English and take pride in their country, resort and making sure that visitors feel welcome. Will definitely be going back. Thank you so much for such beautiful memories.

Loved Everything!

amazing staff and service, room very spacious and very good accommodations, even a little better than the photos. the dinner menu is also very worth the price. They do provide free shuttle service at arrival and departure within a particular time of the day

only downside is the bus station nearby is the green line which comes every 1 hr (red line is every 15 min.) so you should plan your trip at the center around that too. The park nearby is very beautiful and peaceful though. There’s an amazing cafe within walking distance but other meals like lunch you should go downtown

Best modern ryokan with lake view for us. We had an open air bath and large room with western beds. Hotel offered sweets at check in. You can wear yukata with slippers. The colors for the female yukata was so cute! We booked the private onsen as a couple and had a great view of Mt Fuji at sunrise. Customer service and dining was excellent. Food was amazing, so much to eat, tasted good and visual pleasing with so much attention to detail! We took advantage of the shuttle service that was offered which is nice since the buses did not come often.

Ryokan is dated. Otherwise it has a charm that I actually can’t say is bad at all.

The lakeview was truly mesmerizing and we were lucky to see the surrounding hills shrouded in mist, slowly rising from the fog to shine in the sunlight. The room was very nice traditional style just like the breakfast and the dinner, and we loved their yukata selection for nightwear. My partner enjoyed the onsen very much. The shuttle service came also very handy.

It's definitely a bit run-down with lots of mold and insects outside on the balcony (impossible to use it because of this), but seemed to be mostly clean inside. The futons were not thick enough. It would have been nice to have some signage about what we eat exactly and the food in general could have been better and more fresh. The location is a bit off the beaten path but you can even walk to the center of the town if needed and the lakeview makes up for the location.

- Amazing views that can be seen from the balcony in room for lake, Onsen for the Mt. Fuji as well as outside the hotel with a beautiful closer look for mt Fuji and kawaguchiko lake which my family preferred and enjoyed it more than went up on the ropeway. - breakfast and dinners are wonderful. - very good service, The staff members are all amazing people. My bus back to shinjuku is 5pm they helped out with luggages and taxi booking for later noon after check out in the morning so we got to spend more time half day. I also forgot my AirPod at the hotel, they helped arrange it to deliver to other hotel I’m so glad of that. - there is a green line sightseeing bus just 1-2minutes walk.

- The family room we got, normal bed is right next against to the toilet and sink opposite it’s a little uncomfortable to sleep, however it’s not a big deal we can sleep 3 ppl ( me, mum and sis) on 2 futons for Japanese room separating sections to the toilet. Would be better if we can have all 4 futons rather than 2 futons and 2 beds. - It’s a little far to walk to touristy areas and shops but we don’t really mind that much for a great view and less crowded.

Although the hotel is remote, the shuttle service works well and is a phone call away. As has been mentioned by some people, the hotel is dated however for us this added to the charm and we felt it was retro rather than old. We had a room overlooking the lake which was stunning, had twin beds, 3 futons, tatimi area and 2 chairs and a table in the window. loads of room! there was a fridge and a Japanese tea service there for us to enjoy as well as slippers and fresh yakutas to wear every day (which most people did wear) The hotel is really warm due to the volcanic springs which heat the buildings. We were privileged to a clear blue sky the following morning so the Mt Fuji views from the hotel and surrounding walks was amazing. We loved the whole experience (even the endless fish courses for dinner and breakfast). we used the private onsen as we wanted to enjoy it together however the hotel one for everyone was empty while we were there. (single sex sessions though) service was very special! There's a 7/11 within walking distance. This lake area is very special and worth the effort and money to get a break away from Tokyo. We returned using the coach service which was amazing - better than the train journey there. I'd recommend taking the coach if you can.
