Simply perfect in every way, from the room itself (with an amazing view of lake Kawaguchi), and the impeccable service, to the invigorating onsens (both communal and private), as well as a spectacular Japanese dinner (where the chef will do their utmost to cater to any allergies or ethical/religious limitations). The breakfast buffet is also amazing and deserves special mentioning. I am a top-tier reward program member on Booking.com, and I have written quite a few reviews since long before the pandemic, and I rarely give a full 10/10 (a lot of the time of the time, I am the guy whose overly critical review lowers the average score of the hotel), but Konanso unquestionably deserves a perfect score. Stay here, and you want to stay again (I did), and although it may cost a bit more than the cheapest ryokan in Fujikawaguchiko, it is worth it!

No complaints really about the hotel. The only thing I did notice this time, compared to last time I stayed, was that a much higher ratio of the guests were foreigners, and a substantial minority of these were stereotypically ill-behaved in common areas (as has become an increasing issue in much of Japan as of late, especially in "touristy" areas such as Fujikawaguchiko). If you stay at Konanso, then please do not be one of these - if you do not know what to do (and common sense is not an option), then please just ask someone for guidance, or do what the locals do (or DO NOT do what they avoid doing). Thank you.

Simply perfect in every way, from the green tea served to you in your room by the friendly maid as you arrive (whilst enjoying an amazing view of lake Kawaguchi), to the invigorating onsens (both communal and private), and a spectacular Japanese dinner (where the chef will do their utmost to cater to any allergies or ethical/religious limitations). The room itself also deserves extra mentioning – it felt both traditional and modern, and in every way just right. I am a top-tier reward program member on Booking.com, and I have written quite a few reviews since long before the pandemic, and I very rarely give a full 10/10 (a lot of the time, I am the guy whose overly critical review lowers the average score of the hotel), but Konanso unquestionably deserves a perfect score. No complaints really. So instead I will use this space to say that the breakfast is also worth mentioning by virtue of being the best hotel/ryokan breakfast I have had in all of Japan to this date; a lot of Japanese ryokans serve you a traditional set-meal breakfast, which can be rather intimidating for a foreigner (and a lot of natives), but Konanso has an amazing breakfast buffet where you can choose to have a Japanese, full English or continental breakfast, or an admixture of them all! You can even have Japanese curry for breakfast if you are crazy/brave enough for it!

The hotel is located 3min car ride away from the Kawaguchiko station. You can call the hotel in advance to book a van for pick up and drop-off at the station. From there, the service is excellent, their staff members are so considerate and the hotel is top notch comfort. We got their special Japanese shiatsu massage for 30min and it saved us from all the built up pain from walking for two weeks. Their outdoor onsen is so cute, and public baths are just the right temperature. They also have a foot spa with a view on Mount Fuji! Oh and they have SO MUCH FLOOR SPACE!! We had the most space at Konansou than any other hotel we've stayed at. The amenities provided are plentiful and of good quality. The kaiseki had a lot of food varieties and it was hands-down the best kaiseki we tried. They make the bed for you and their blankets are soooo soft and fuwa fuwa!! It was a great experience and worth every penny.

According to online information, outside of business hours, the hotel van was not available for pick-up. However, we were able to tag along a van that was out to pick up other customers. Otherwise, for food and accommodation it was the perfect ryokan!!

Everything here was top tier- the staff, the food, the onsen, the views, the room, the services, etc. We dressed in yukatas and slippers each day for meals and around the hotel, we enjoyed a private onsen for little cost extra, and we had the most amazing food for breakfast. The traditional 10- course Japanese meals were truly an awesome experience! We had a wonderful room host named Naoto. He and the rest of the staff were extremely hospitable and enthusiastic.

We came during the wrong season, so we couldn't see Mt. Fuji from the hotel. However, if we were here during clearer months, I'm sure the view from the hotel would've been incredible.

Myself and my husband are currently on our honeymoon travelling Japan. I am so grateful we got to experience this stay. It was amazing from start to finish. A real Japanese experience. We had a beautiful onsen in the evening and the view of mount Fuji was outstanding on the rooftop (foot spa). Breakfast had everything you needed. 100% would recommend to experience the Japanese culture. A free shuttle bus back to the train station. Could not have asooked for more. Thank you

We did decide to sleep in the futon beds for the experience. Can be a little bit uncomfortable but definitely worth the experience.

The lunch/ dinner are awesome.. sumptuous meals. Great shuttle bus service to and from Kawaguchiko station. Hotel pickups at platform 10. The hotel faces the beautiful serene kawaguchiko lake and has good view of mount Fuji at rooftop.

The beds a little itch to the skin, not sure if there are bed bugs or clean sufficiently. Found tiny bug on the tatami floor but not a big issue. Its the bed and seat cushions that need to be ensure clean well.. There are only few restaurants around hotel. Lawson convenience shop is helpful for grabbing quick bite. Halal Indian restaurant around the corner.

We booked the best and the most expensive room with a Fuji view and an outside onsen bath. We had a breakfast and kaiseki dinner. Kaiseki dinner was just perfect and we loved it. I tried many times kaiseki nun Japan but that one was just exceptional. The room was luxury and onsen was great: the public one and our private. Roof top bath was so cute. Nice little shop and free of charge coffee even after check out. Room service so polite and helpful. Free of charge pick up and drop off to the station is also very helpful.

Reception guy told us that there is no taxi early in the morning to Chureito padoga but that was not true. We booked it after all. I guess he just didn’t want to have stress (mendoksai).

Very authentic in every way. Very traditional facilities. Wonderful location and staff. The view of Mount Fuji from our private onsen was memorable and surreal. The traditional room with matted floors was delightful. The evening dinner was served in our room and was a banquet with the huge variety of amazing food served to us by the delightful K….. All the staff were super nice. Shuttle service on call. The view of the lake from our window…everything was perfect.

We could not turn off the toilet light at night..during the night visits the bright light interrupted our sleep ..it automatically came on A light switch would have avoided this.

What an amazing experience!! We as a group of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Konanso. Besides everything exceeded our expectation, I'd like to mention the Ryokan dinner that we included in our reservation. This is a must-try culinary experience and it blowed us away every day. We were completed spoiled after 3-days Kaiseki cuisine at Konanso. The richness, various collection of options, the beautiful presentation of plated dishes, and the flavory of every of them...we were in heaven!! There are so much more to this meticulously prepared and exquisitely served meals every day. It was a great treat to our family vacation. We definitely highly recommend Konanso if you look for an upscale and unique perfect Japanese ryokan experience under Mt Fuji.

Perfect location a small walk from the bus/train station. There is a shuttle service from the hotel. The Japanese style rooms are beautiful, the dinner in the room with the half board is not to be missed - thanks Miki for the great experience. The hotel has a rooftop where you can see on one hand the lake and on the other mount Fuji, while relaxing your feet in a warm bath. We did not try the onsen reading other reviews this is a miss on our side.

We found the futons mattresses on the floor making the bed a little harder than we are familiar with, this did not make the experience any less.
