Onsen, Ryokan Style

The Hotel should give more Information about how to get there. There is an orange Bus driving Direct to a Hotel next to this one and there is a short cut though the other Hotel to come to this one without having to pull all your luggage up the step Hill. Check my photos with Google translator for instructions.

Friendly and helpful staff, good sized room, exceptional onsen facilities. Air conditioning was powerful and effective. Close to centre of town. Easy check in and out process. Pricing reflected quality.

It wasn’t a big deal to me as we spent most of our time wandering around town and day trips but be aware it does look dated and tired, even though we stayed in a renovated room which we paid extra for. To reiterate what most people have said, the location is walking distance from town on a cool day but if it’s hot don’t bother - get a taxi and save yourself the trouble and time. Same goes for if you are wheeling suitcases. The plus side is there are plenty of taxis about and they are very cheap.

It was very quaint and local. The food was amazing and attentively prepared. The staff were friendly and helpful even though we couldn't speak japanese. The outdoor part of the onsen baths were particularly wonderful and i recommend taking another bath after dinner when it is dark out for a relaxing bath experience while looking at the stars😊 i would love to stay longer next time!

The only critique would be the rather thin Futons.. i suggest to not book the traditional japanese style room if you have issues sleeping on hard surfaces. Otherwise very cute room! My husband doubled up with an extra futon and that was fine for him..

Hot spring baths and massage chairs. Good dinner and breakfast, though breakfast food run out fast and no replacement. If want to just chill and relax, do not even need to buy the Hakone Free pass, as we went on the day that drizzled, nothing much to see.

If only there was direct hotel transport to town area. Hotel only provided transport to Hotel Okada where you need to queue and take a shuttle bus for 100 yen each person, even with luggage and all. Guess my family got used to this, after a while. Roads in Hakone rather narrow and some parts in town area are only single lanes, but their drivers are excellent.

Good size rooms and breakfast was good (traditional Japanese but there were cornflakes!) so be prepared if you are after western breakfast!

Located up a very steep hill (I would recommend getting a taxi to and from the station as it’s only about 800yen and is about a 20-25 min walk). Public onsen facilities were good but they make you pay an extra 1500yen for the private onsen which is pretty poor and a very basic indoor onsen and that’s all - it is not worth the money in my opinion, just suck it up and go in the public one! Staff were nice. We had no problems with our stay and compared to other accommodation in Hakone it was one of the cheapest we found and so relatively good value but I think you could find a lot better if you are prepared to spend a bit more!

Everything! It was spectacular! The rooms were beautiful Japanese style. The onsens were incredible, especially the outside ones. Our package included dinner and breakfast. The dinner was HUGE and delicious! Breakfast was great… Japanese style with some cereal options. Cute Yukatas in all sizes… even for the kids. The relaxation area was great… especially the free massage chairs.

Tricky narrow roads to drive on to get to the property. No responses by the hotel to my questions in the bookings.com chat. (My nephew has a severe food allergy… so I wanted to know about catering for him). The Futon bed was thin… as I am not used to this style of bedding, I was uncomfortable.

I loved how both comfortable and beautiful our room was! We had the large Japanese style room and was really comfortable (we all took a nap on the floor after checking in). I also really loved the tea and snacks provided, it was delicious and got me really excited to try more food in Hakone. I love the baths so much, it was so relaxing and clean. I loved sitting in the different pools. The water fountain and chairs helped so much to cool off before returning to the bath or to dry off. We also had dinner and breakfast, both were so delicious! Thank you so much to the kind staff that took care of us! Thank you for being so accommodating especially as travelers who don’t speak a lot of Japanese.

We liked the traditional Japanese rooms. We enjoyed as a family staying together. The dinner was excellent. The onsen was lovely too.

Nothing to complain about but the property sits at the top of a very very steep hill. It would be nice if the hotel could explain this and inform guests that taking a taxi from the station is not expensive at all (for us it was only ¥780) and especially if you have a lot of luggage it saves a lot of trouble!

It suited our large family of 6, the family room had a few areas we could lay our mats out on which was perfect. We loved the onsen - the multiple pools were amazing & we stayed in them for hours! the massage chairs were also worth it too. The dinner which was included was a feast each night! Amazing!

It is on the older spectrum - but don’t let this put you off - it’s clean and neat and tidy. Maybe slightly disappointed the karaoke area wasn’t open.

Everything was expected as described. We booked the room with breakfast and dinner as the hotel was a bit far from the eateries in the town centre. The breakfast buffet was typical Japanese style rice with fish, poached eggs miso soup and lots of little condiments on the side. Dinner was kaiseki style which is quite impressive. Love the outdoor onsen and the massage chair. We can also use the neighbouring hotel onsen as well. The town centre is about 17 minutes downhill walk. Would not recommend walking up to the hotel with any luggage

It definitely was a bit too far from the train station. The bus shuttle service for ¥100 per person comes around every 20/50 minutes on the hour during peak time and stops at each hotel. It can get pretty crowded and sometimes you may not be able to get on because it's full Or you get a taxi which is pretty expensive for a 5 minute ride.
