Location was great, a nice walk to station and old town. Surrounding area was quiet and lovely, and the rooms were decently soundproofed. The view from our window meant we could watch the sunset from our bed over the hills. Staff were lovely and very helpful, and there is a free manga selection in the lobby were you can borrow books from to take and read in your room. Restaurant space is also open, outside of breakfast hours for free use, so you are able to do some work, or have some food at the tables whilst helping yourself to their available drinks. Onsen was small but nice, and the womens onsen needs a code to get into, so safety is a priority.

Bed was straight out of the flinstones (hard as rock) and the room is rather small, barely enough room for luggage, we had to climb over ours everytime we got on and off the bed. Toilet was also too small, and was pushed too far under the bench top so the back would sometimes fall and hit you mid use.

The location is 10 minutes walk from Takayama Station and 7 minutes walk from Miyagawa Morning Market. They have onsen, vending machines, and laundry. The room is clean.

The room is little bit tiny

The hotel is conveniently located 500m from Nohi Bus Center if you are taking the bus from Shinjuku or Tokyo to Takayama. The rooms are much bigger and spacious than the ones we found in Tokyo. Beds are very comfy as well. They provide unlimited welcome drinks for all guests after 3pm till around 11pm which I found to be very unique and hospitable. Overall lived our stay there and would recommend it highly to anyone who is looking for comfortable stay in Takayama.

The main thing we didn't like was the receptionist who was working at the day we checked in didn't seem very pleasant. My wife was having a bad headache and requested her of some paracetamol or pain relief tablets she just ushered me to a store that is a 10 mins walk from the hotel. Would have been nice if the staff were trained to handle such situations and could provide their guests with basic over the counter medicines if they are readily available which was the case in Tokyo hotels as I got to know.

Room is very quiet and clean. There are body cream, facial cleaner, etc for the customer to choose at the lobby. The food quality of the breakfast is wonderful. The price of the room is reasonable and the staff is nice. I love the sitting room (restaurant) very much, drinks are provided in the afternoon and evening.

I occupy a single room, that is very small. For the breakfast, fruits are expected but none is available. If there is locker at the public hot spring, that will be perfect. It will be better if a weight machine for luggage is provided as well.

I cannot rate this place high enough. Has it's own onsen; rooms of the high standard you always get here; walking distance from the station; very central to the shops and markets. Staff recommended a bar for a quiet drink and "Tonio" turned out to be a great little watering hole. Tell the owner you're a Metallica fan and you've made a friend. Takayama was an overnight excursion for me, but this hotel, coupled with a delightful little town covered in snow, then a soak in the onsen, was a high point of my japan trip.

Nothing. Couldnt find fault with the place. Good price, in fact a real bargain. If your foot sore and need a day to recuperate, it's worth the train ride to get there.

The onsen / bath on site was wonderful

Takayama Hotel - 2 annoyances. Firstly the power points were stupidly placed near the ground in the passageway to the bathroom making it easy to kick if you’re not paying attention & next to the RHS pillow making it easy to knock out. Secondly, the room was wasn’t big enough for 2 suitcases to be stored & I had to squeeze between the suitcase & the bed to get into bed However, the hotel was excellent overall with a wonderful onsen / bath on site.

The buffet breakfast was very good. The hotel was clean, modern and reasonably comfortable. It was conveniently located for the main railway and bus stations. The historic centre of Takayama was a reasonably short walk.

The room was small by western standards and the bed was hard against one wall, which made getting in and out on that side difficult. This was the same in other hotels we stayed in whilst in Japan so maybe it was normal for Japanese hotels.

Excellent value , a very comfortable stay in a clean hotel with very helpful staff, a washing machine and dryer , and a great little onsen. There was onsite parking for 1000yen, and the room had a fridge and kettle allowing for breakfast preparation. Within east walking distance to food and sights.Highly recommend

The hotel is located in the center of Takayama and it less than a 10min walk from the station. The breakfast is amazing with a lot of both Western and Japanese food options. Rooms are cosy and staff is always nice. The natural hot springs are also a plus!

There was some dust in the room and the space inside is not too spacious, but still the room was pleasant to stay in. They could use a few more laundry machines, since there is only 1-2 for the whole hotel.
