Hebden captivated our hearts from the moment we arrived. The Clarendon Country Pub made our stay absolutely perfect. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome - the food was not only award-winning on paper. We had dinner and breakfast and it was the best we had on our trip. The pub and our room were just as lovely and quaint as shown on the photos. The bed was very comfortable, everything was very clean and set up with attention to detail. We were worried that it might be noisy because the room is part of a pub - but it was super quiet and we slept wonderfully. The Yorkshire Dales were right outside, waiting to be explored. We can't give enough stars for how much we enjoyed our stay.

The staff were lovely and very helpful, the breakfast was very nice, tasty and quality. The room was a little small but we were there for 1 night only and it was clean and had good facilities. The bed was very nice and shower worked well. Toiletries were good and had water provided which I think is a must and a bonus of fresh coffee so could not fault it. We saw one of the other rooms which would have been better to stay in but understood priority was given to those staying longer which we could appreciate.

The only thing as mentioned was the room was small but OK for one night. It still had an ensuite and good facilities so all in all very good.

Friendly staff with good Yorkshire accents. Good to see this pub was popular with the locals and not just for tourists like us. Local beers available. We had dinner and breakfast during our stay, both very good. Allowed us to bring our dog for the stay. Given our dog isn't good with other dogs there was enough space to keep our distance during dining. Good size room with big comfy bed.

Other peoples dogs may be annoying for non dog people. You may get an occasional whiff of cigarette smoke from people smoking outside but wasn't much of an issue during our stay and we needed the window open all the time because of the heatwave. No local tv channels.

Dinner - absolutely delicious, perfect-sized portions and a really unusual but local and sustainable menu. Nice to have a small menu too - not overwhelmed by choice! My friend particularly enjoyed the belly pork and recommended wine. Super-comfortable beds and bedding. Staff were really friendly and helpful, Janet rang her cousin to find out the best route for our planned walk - thank you!

If the tomato in the cooked breakfast could have been cut up/smaller/cooked, it would have been perfect.

beautiful cosy room, amazing food (including breakfast), lovely staff, can’t fault it. great location. great facilities - hairdryer and toiletries provided, as well as tea / coffee making facilities in the room.

there were a couple of snags in the room we stayed in - one plug socket not properly attached in the wall etc and the room we stayed in wasn’t very modern, but it was beautifully clean and it’s a country inn in the dales!!

The food was exceptional. We had a stunning evening meal, it was delicious and the service was fantastic. Its.easy to see why they've won so many awards. Our room was nicely decorated and the extra little touches, like homemade shortbread, were really nice. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean and tidy.

The pub is on a main road so, if your room is at the front, you will get road noise, but it's not too distracting.

The staff we met were very friendly and attentive, felt at home straight away. They loved our dog too which is always a good sign. Location is spot on, some really nice views and local walks in the area. The room we booked was fairly basic, although it was a dog friendly room (Grouse) so I understand why they wouldn't throw much money at it considering the amount of dogs they must have staying over. However the bed was huge and comfortable. As for food, we went with the traditional menu (we're Yorkshire born and bred) so we had the fish and chips, which were very good! Nice batter and perfectly cooked white chunky flakes you'd expect from any reputable chippy. I noticed when I got up the following morning a fish van outside, so definitely fresh fish and you can tell. Locals are really friendly. Would definitely recommend a stay here or to nip in for food, but it does get busy on an evening.

There wasn't much not to like. Apart from a few snagging jobs here and there, such as loose taps in the gents toilets and some other wear and tear issues. It's a 270 year old building with many visitors so it's nothing you wouldn't expect. Price of drinks are on the higher end, I paid £4.50 for a pint of lager. I usually drink ales but I'd never tried this particular lager before and it was really good! Some guests must think they're royalty the way they conduct themselves. It's a country pub and dogs are more than welcome in them in Yorkshire. Ireland may have different rules, but you're in Yorkshire. We like dogs more than we like people. Just some friendly advice before looking at my dog like she has two heads, ey.

Delicious interesting food at both dinner and breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. USB ports in the bedroom for charging our phones!

The bathroom wasn’t great. We’d asked for a bath and it looked like there was one in our room from the reviews, but there wasn’t one! Even though the bathroom was easily big enough to have a bath or bigger shower. The shower wasn’t very powerful. It was a shame as the bedroom had been obviously recently renovated/redecorated to a high standard but the bathroom was dull and very basic.

All meals very good indeed, staff very helpful and friendly, pleasant to all customers and not forgetting our dog. Location of hotel ideal for visit to dales, car parking facility good.

Shower room very restricted by oversize washbasin, prevented shower door from opening fully, toilet seat not properly fixed. Lacking shaver point, however plug sockets available to plug in shaver adapter.
