Herriots Hotel

Just across the road from the station and I believe the original Railway hotel. A lovely building that had been sympathetically extended. It is situated right next to the canal and just a five minute walk from the town centre. Although a single bed it was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept on and the bedding was of high quality. The breakfast was fabulous and there was a lots of options to choose from. Staff very friendly and attentive. I had a room on the second floor with a lovely view over the canal. They are also dog friendly.

The room was a little small but it was a single room so can’t really complain. Apart from that nothing.

Self contained could come and go no problem

Room 2 heriots house 1 look at bathroom door does not shut sliding door hits skirting board plus look at the door handle 2 shower still drips/ runs when turned off 3 green light above entry door always on even at night 4 insufficient plug sockets in the wrong place ie you have to take the kettle to beside the bed to use it 5 the mirror is in the wrong place to the plugs or visa verser .These things would make the room perfect . You should have had a female to design the room Ie mirror / plugs

Breakfast was amazing such choice and quality food and service, all cooked fresh, fantastic. We had a room facing the canal which was lovely. The room was quite warm but opening the terrace doors and using the fan provided made for a comfortable nights sleep. The hotel is opposite the railway station so a trip into Leeds only 40 minutes, fantastic.

I know it said on the information that if there is a function it could be noisy , we weren't prepared for the level of noise but it finished at 12pm so no problem . Still had a good nights sleep. Just be aware of this if staying in the stable block rooms.

Ideally located for a break away, short walk into the centre by the canal. Food was great certainly a good choice in the restaurant for breakfast & dinner. Staff were very polite, friendly & helpful. The hotel was very clean & comfortable.

We were on the first floor in the main house. Our room was noisy from road traffic & you could hear the piped music from underneath in the lounge area till 11.00 pm. We had been moved due to a wedding taking place from my original request (booked 9 months previously) of having 2 rooms overlooking the canal. In contrast my aunts room was much quieter we were quite disappointed as our sleep was disrupted a few times.

Meals made to order resulting in some delay but made up for quality and consistency. Good team Rhubarb. Efficient personal care, attention and friendly staff.

Shower opening could have been wider to avoid nigh on limbo dance routine to get through. Small print mentions popular for weddings, occasions etc so clients opting not to be disturbed early hours need to have option of quieter room. Fortunate with weather so bedroom window left open which meant our room over looking outside social area could have been noisy but fortunately early revellers moved on to sample alternative night life.

Breakfast on the first morning was very good. On the second morning the fruit salad consisted of apples only. A member of staff was contacted who stated "that's all we have left". We saw the chef later who said that there was plenty of fruit and she was topping it up.

Some fire safety issues in the Mansion House, where we stayed. The fire alarm was showing that it was not talking to the main panel. The cellar door, which should be 30 minutes fire rated, was left open and it was noted that there were only two hinges fitted, there should be three, and smoke seals/intumescent strips were missing. The door frame did not meet fire safety requirements.

Our room was spotlessly clean. The bathroom looked new. The shower was spacious, powerful and hot. The toiletries provided were nice too. The staff were friendly. The location was great. A lovely level walk along the canal into the town. The evening meals ( mains ) were delicious and reasonably priced.

Limited choice of teas at breakfast. No mint or fruit teas. Machine made or sachet coffee, not freshly brewed. They were unable to provide gluten free toast. The room floors are extremely creaky and can be heard whenever anyone moves around in the rooms beside and above you.

The room was good, everything we needed and we had a good, quiet night's sleep. However, when I woke at 7:30 there was some boom, boom music emanating from somewhere underneath us (we were on the first floor) and not something I want to hear at that time of the morning. I asked the receptionist and she couldn't think where it was coming from but it didn't detract hugely from our stay. The cooked breakfast was smaller than I am used to but along with the other breakfast items we had a choice of, it turned out to be just enough. I would definitely recommend this hotel, it is ideally situated too, just a short stroll from the town centre.

the hotel is very conveniently located opposite the railway station and only a modest walk to the town centre. It has a good, easily accessed car park. We received a warm welcome on arrival. Our room was scrupulously clean and very comfortable. All fixtures and fittings were in good order. Breakfast was excellent with a fair choice of hot food which was cooked to order. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Altogether the hotel offered good value for money.

There was a minor issue when I tried to contact the hotel by telephone to pay the bill due to the introduction of a new system. However, it was easily resolved. The only criticism I would have is that the front steps to the hotel were covered in leaves making them a little slippery.

The location so near to the train station was perfect just a few minutes walk across the main road by the fire station Hotel is spacious with plenty of seating areas inside and out The breakfast was excellent

A bit confused about the entrance, ended up going in through the bar with my case (No clear sign to say "HERRIOTS HOTEL") Room 19 had missing tiles off the bathroom door No fridge in the room Only a fan instead of air conditioning (just nit picking with this one)
