Conveniently located in the centre of Skipton this pub/restaurant/hotel was a great find. Don’t be put off by the plain exterior as this traditional pub-hotel is so friendly and welcoming. It is also very good value for money while providing good service, food and real ale. We will be returning when we can either to stay and/or to eat and drink we liked it that much. So handy for the market, cafés, canal walks and boat trips and interesting shops. Don’t be put off by the busy nearby supermarkets they quieten down in the evening and a bonus is they provide a handy place to pull the car into for free, albeit limited, waiting.

No outdoor space or dedicated car parking as typical of a town centre but on the positive side there are plentiful car parks both free (from 90 minutes to 3 hours) and reasonably priced all day car parking within a 2 minute walk. We were lucky to return in the quieter evening to find free on-street parking right outside The Railway. As for outdoors there are pleasant church grounds adjacent and a short walk from the beautiful canal side area.

The location of the Railway is spot on and just close enough to town centre that a 2 minute walk got you into there, but far enough that it was not busy. We checked in quickly and room was available and shown to the room by staff member who explained the keyless entry if we came back later in evening and main entrance was locked. Room was towards back of pub and overlooked quite street, it was clean and had all we wanted for our short stay. Breakfast was cooked fresh (not buffet style) and had plenty of options to choose, we had full English and plenty of coffee which was excellent. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and this will be our go to place if we return to Skipton Thank you team at The Railway for a wonderful couple of days

If honest it had everything we needed but if i was to highlight one thing it would be that the stairs are quite steep so if you have any difficulties with stairs it could be a problem.

Great location, just a short walk to the canal and a large Tesco very close just in case. Very quiet at night. Staff are all brilliant, really friendly and helpful. Great shower, good size room, good TV and WiFi. Comfy bed. Breakfast is very good. The cooked options were excellent. Top quality bacon, sausage, eggs etc all beautifully cooked. Not a huge choice of cereal but enough for most people. We also ate here for our evening meal on two nights and all the meals were excellent and very reasonably priced, highly recommended. Carol is lovely host, an absolute credit to the hotel.

Nothing major just minor niggles. No dedicated car park but street parking usually available or there is a long stay car park just a two minute walk away and quite reasonable. Our pillows were a bit lumpy but we didn't say anything but I'm sure they would have changed them if we had mentioned.

Delightful from beginning to end of my one night stay. Excellent location, very good rooms, superb food. My room overlooked a small 'park' on a quiet back road and yet was less than 10minutes stroll from Train Station and if you took the said back road and over a footbridge through the bus station Town was only 4 or 5 mins stroll away. Excellent stay!

As with everything in life expectation outstrips reality and 'victims of success' are everywhere. The rooms were outwardly spotless but things like the loo and sink could have been better cared for. The place itself has a very busy feel to it and the staff react accordingly all a little frantic for me. Having said that it was an experience I would be happy to repeat over and over again. Please accept my personal thanks Carol, Bonny and her very busy team...

The staff were all excellent and that was across the board. A credit to The Railway surely. A friendly Yorkshire welcome, and service throughout was great. The weekday breakfast chef was a great fella. Food and drink were all excellent and the room was clean, comfortable and quiet, despite being close to a fairly busy road. The bathroom was similarly clean, well stocked, and modern. Although the location may not look particularly central, the town centre is only a few minutes walk away.

Only very slight minus was the curtains and blinds let a bit of light in.

Very friendly staff, the food was excellent, both lunch and breakfast and the staff were very efficient and attentive and made us feel valued and welcome. The room was very comfortable with a large bathroom, very clean and nicely furnished. The towels were large and fluffy and the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. The location was excellent, very close to the town centre and also close to a pay and display car park, where we left our car overnight. The car park is free from 6.00 pm until 9.00 am We arrived in Skipton at 10.30 in the morning and it was reasonably priced to park there.

Room1. The the room was cosy , quiet + bed was very comfy with a view out onto the church. We ate lunch at the pub upon checking in and just wow great food. I went for the fish pie which was packed with 12-15 prawns and layered with salmon and smoked haddock. The prices and beer were great also. Breakfast also didn’t disappoint also exceptional. All staff were friendly and attentive. Parking if unavailable outside is 2mins away overnight cost me £5-6. I would definitely stay here again.

Carpet along radiator / window wall needs fitting under skirting as was pulled up. This did not effect our stay or bother us.

I had a small single room in this newly restored pub in town centre close to shops and train/bus stations. Clean, comfortable, good wifi. Excellent choice for breakfast - I had kippers.

A warm night, so I kept the window open, and there was some traffic noise - but this was not too obtrusive. Otherwise no complaints. (I would have liked to have had an evening meal there, but was there on Monday when they don't serve food.)

For the price I paid I couldn’t recommend it more! It had everything I needed and the staff were very friendly! Also as I was there for a wedding being close to the reception was excellent and having Tesco across the road was perfect. Also to add the breakfast in the morning was incredible along with the company of the owners dog which made my stay even better that it was dog friendly.

Parking was the only downside as if there wasn’t a space out front or down the side it was hard
