The Woolly Sheep Inn

Where to start? Located in the centre of Skipton this traditional pub offered everything you would want. Secure parking was accessed around the corner and a token collected from the bar gave access. We had a room in the annex just by the beer garden. Although the weekend trade was brisk in the garden we could not hear any noise even with the windows open (overlooking the car park!) The room was clean, modern and had a large comfortable bed. The bathroom was well appointed with a bath with a good shower over and loads of (very) hot water. The pub served beautifully cooked and tasty breakfasts and Sunday dinner. (We were there for a friend’s anniversary so didn’t get a chance to eat at other times). I have to make a special mention of the staff - all of them from the lady servicing our room, the breakfast and restaurant staff and all the people behind the bar! They were all superb and really made our stay very special. Thank you! We will return!!

The location was excellent for exploring Skipton, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I loved the fact that there was fresh milk (in a thermos) every day in the room for tea and coffee. The room was nicely decorated and clean. There were 2 free half pint vouchers to use in the pub which was a lovely touch.

The sealant around the shower could do with replacement as there was some black mould beginning to show. The mattress was rather firm for my liking, but I'm fully aware that that is due to personal taste. It wouldn't put me off staying again.

The food was delicious. Staff were lovely and had a particular interest in Lola 😁 Facilities were great and really enjoyed the beer garden and the snug.

Better selection at breakfast (chopped fruit, nuts, granola etc) and French toast wouldn’t go amiss! Staff should be given the power to deal with aggressive dogs within the hotel. On one occasion we had to leave the snug on account of the dog sitting at the door going for our dog every time we walked past. That dog in question went for every single dog who came into the hotel. The dogs owners became aggressive with us despite me not saying a word to them. A dog friendly hotel should be taking action for dogs who really shouldn’t be there as they spoil the experience for those whose dogs are trained and well behaved, as well as those without dogs. No one wants to hear aggressive barking all the time.

The team were brilliant. We arrived, with our booking details, however the records on the system indicated we were a day early, there was an error on the system. The lovely lady who helped, worked hard to find another place for us to stay. Someone else decided not to stay and we then had room 1 for the first night. We noticed there was a damp issue in the corner of the room. We told the team and we were moved to room 2 for the second and third nights. The team were very professional and friendly and handled all issues exceptionally well. If we visit Skipton again we will definitely stay at The Woolly Sheep.

Very central and close to train station. Very friendly staff. Fresh milk given to take to room. Breakfast was varied and delicious. Rooms and bathrooms plus bar and dining spaces immaculately clean and decor was quaint and stunning. Very competitively priced for what this is. Good bar, offered free drink on voucher in room and range of free toiletries plus coffee tea biscuits and hot choc in the room was a bonus. Decent fan provided ( time of life so greatly appreciated ) but heating was good and cosy when needed. No trouble from other guests, lively bar and simply cannot find fault with my stay. Will definitely come again thank you

The young team are wonderful. So professional and very helpful. The room was great and they'd thought of everything! The weather was exceptionally hot and they'd put a fan in the room which was greatly appreciated. We were also given a flask for our milk, again, so thoughtful, in keeping the milk cool and fresh. We had a lunch time meal which was lovely too, outside in the beer garden. Breakfast the following day was great with lots of choice. It's in the perfect location for exploring the beautiful town of Skipton. We would definitely recommend The Woolly Sheep Inn

Everything was superb

We stayedhere three nights and enjoyed everything about the place. The staff were all friendly & helpful. The food, breakfast and dinner, was exceptionally good, so much so that we ate here every evening. Our plan had been to eat out elsewhere in Skipton but when the food is as good as it is here why go elsewhere! The bar also has a really welcoming feel with an open log fire, comfortable seating and good beer & wine at reasonable prices. A proper pub! Nearly forgot the secure, floodlit carpark! Yes, we really like the place and will return.

Nothing really. The bedroom was a bit warm, even with radiators turned off, but that was easily resolved by opening a window.

From start to finish the whole experience was excellent. The staff were amazing and helpful. The food in the restaurant was incredible, with so much choice. The room was beautiful and clean and despite it been located above the pub VERY quiet. The added bonus of having private parking was brilliant as parking is a nightmare in Skipton

This is being very picky but at breakfast, some of the yoghurts were out of date, but do not let this put you off a stay here. The rest of the food was incredible

This place is an absolute gem. The location is superb smack bang in the town centre. The room was spotless. Tea and coffee tray had proper Yorkshire teabags, hot chocolate and plenty of sugar. They give you fresh milk which is a great touch. In the bathroom were little boxes with shower cap, vanity kit, toothbrush and paste, razor and sewing kit as well as toiletries. Huge comfy bed. The breakfast was fabulous with a great choice of hot food. We’d also had lunch on the day we arrived which was great quality and value. The best B&B we’ve stayed in for a very long time. Would stay again in a heartbeat

Our room was right by the main door and inconsiderate guests made no attempt to close it quietly.

Polite and friendly service, characterful rooms for drinking and dining, good outdoor space at rear of property, huge bed, excellent food at breakfast and dinner. A good deal of rock music played, for all you ageing rockers. Ensuite room was small, but as expected in an older property.

Access to the car park is a bit awkward - approached via a narrow street, and then entered by obtaining a token from the pub. Some occasional noise in the evening, but you are in a town centre after all.
