The Unicorn Skipton

The location is very central. The hostess was super friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were very tasty - better than expected. The room was very clean, spacious and had a lovely comfortable couch for lounging in.

Two of the problems were something the hostess could do nothing about: the parking is a bit of a walk over a canal bridge, and the hotel is not on the ground floor. There is a flight of stairs just to get to reception and there is no lift. While the room and the public areas were very clean and tastefully decorated, there was evidence that it was a bit tired - the bath was slightly scratched and the overhead shower had a flimsy shower curtain rather than a solid screen. The beautiful bannisters had been broken and not mended, although in fairness I don't know when this had happened.

Absolutely loved this hotel, just across the road from the bus station and free parking 2 minutes away if you're taking your car. Close to all the shops, bars, restaurants and takeaways. Totally dog friendly and there is a dog menu available 😋 Breakfast delivered to your room at a time that suits you .. and very nice it was too .. full English with toast, filter coffee and orange juice .. although there is a menu and you pick what you want the day before. The two girls that were on reception were brilliant ! Really friendly, kind and considerate and exceptionally helpful .. they were doing a fabulous job ! Thank you girls ! The rooms were clean and cosy and they had a table and chairs for eating your breakfast at. We've had a fantastic time in Skipton and would definitely recommend The Unicorn !

Room was very spacious with large, comfortable bed and good quality sheets. Really good breakfast delivered to our room which was nice. Good coffee and plenty of it. Nice and quiet considering very central location. We were lucky enough to get a parking space right outside otherwise it was a bit of a walk to the designated car park. Staff were great - lending us some tools to make a minor adjustment to the car - nice touch. Everyone seemed very jolly which is always a good sign.

Damp patch on ceiling could do with painting, one bedside lamp not present. Shower was a bit difficult to moderate.

Very conveniently located hotel with friendly staff and everything you would want in the room including helpful USB & socket stacks by the bedside along with seating area for food and two armchairs for watching TV.

The only thing that let this hotel down was the bathroom tiles. A spray of anti-mould foam cleaner would remove the black and red stains in the grout around the tiles and bath. The quality of the scrambled eggs could be better - virtually white indicating cheap quality. For the price charged I was happy to pay for the convenience but would have liked better eggs 😊

Great location... Breakfast Amazing. The staff are so friendly...especially Stephen and Sarah... I loved how they were just down to earth. The room was spotlessly clean. I didn't like how I couldn't see out as it was a frosted window but there again I was able to take my dog and maybe they only allow certain rooms with dogs. It was very quiet which absolutely suited me. I would definitely stay here again but would maybe ask for a different room.... One where I could see out and not pictures of scary bulls and tweeting birds 😄😂

The window was frosted so couldn't see out. The pictures on the wann were just awful... and the light with the tweeting birds.... Eerie !

Very helpful staff and newly furnished and pleasant hotel. Room was comfortable but, as a late booking, we didn't manage to get into one of the larger rooms. We did see one of these as we were departing and it was definitely larger than the one we stayed in and we would certainly consider one of those in the future. Breakfast was delivered to the room in the morning and was very good.

It would be nice to have a breakfast area rather than eating in your room but, due to the aspect of the hotel and location, this would be difficult. Eating in the room we stayed in okay but a little right. Eating in one of the bigger rooms wouldn't be a problem at all.

It was right in the town centre so ideal location. We took a dog and there was plenty of room for him too. Breakfast was brought to your room at a time convenient for you. There was a table and four chairs for you to eat from. Staff were very welcoming. Car park across the road with a free parking permit. Lots of places nearby to eat and drink. Lots of walks nearby. Perfect!

Everything was perfect. If we had any gripe there wasn't a plug for the bath as it had gone missing but I was offered to use another room so no problem.

Very clean and comfortable room. Everything provided to ensure a good stay. Tried a variety from the breakfast menu and everything was great, even a daily sausage for our dog!

Not directly about the property but the relocated Sound bar is now literally across the road and is very noisy. The hotel is next door to a nightclub but you only know it if awake in the early hours to hear them loudly making their way home. ( assuming it was from here ? )Our stay was during the heatwave so obviously windows were wide open, I’m sure normally a closed window would eliminate most of the outside hullabaloo! Would stay here again though despite this.

Fab central location just off main high street, opposite short stay carpark, just over pedestrian footbridge bottom of the bus station is the long stay carpark. Unicorn can give you a free parking permit. Rooms are clean & spacious, breakfast is served in your room, you are given a nice menu choice and it was really tasty. Windows are double glazed so a nice quiet nights sleep, ample charging adapters either side of bed was a nice touch.

The stale breakfast smell lingered a little in the mornings, but once you opened window all was fine, but apart from that all was good

Richard was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent, although still served in the room following the Covid restrictions. Personally, I do like to 'go down' to eat, although I can understand many people like it this way. Having said that, it in no way made the stay any less enjoyable. The hotel is right in the town centre and so convenient to be able to pop back. We would definitely stay again.

Staying on Thursday and Friday nights, the noise of the revellers at the nearby nightclub until 4am was annoying (our room was on the front). However, the excellent double glazing helped greatly - just a shame we had to close the window during such a warm spell. A mini fridge would have been useful.
