Stifford Hall Hotel Thurrock

From food to service - it was wonderful. The communal areas (lounge & restaurant) were exquisite, and it felt good to be sat in a room finely decorated with chandeliers and an assortment of tea cups and saucers. There was a range of breakfast on offer from buffet to plates hot food. The best bit was the library next to the lounge. A fireplace, huge leather chairs, and shelves stacked top to toe of an array of colourful spines. I spent the whole morning leafing through different books and enjoying the ambience of the surrounding grounds. It's a little piece of heave this place. All amenities in working order. Spacious rooms - that don't actually reflect the opulence of the restaurant/lounge/library but still comfortable. Great value for money. Staff were extremely helpful and made sure that all our needs were met. A wondeful stay xxx

Daily room service was excellent. Very comfortable beds, tea/coffee facilities were always well provided. So for that we say Thank You to Gosia, who we often saw in the corridor going about her work with a welcoming smile and greeting. Thanks also goes to Monica on Reception, always helpful with any enquiry we had and witty young Mason who served us perfectly in the bar and for our food orders, especially attentive on the evening we had my mum join us for dinner, super service. Hats off to the chef - food menu had good choices and everything we ordered was delicious.

Breakfast was excellent and the cooked t breakfast was well presented and well served by staff , the selection of cereals and fruit was very well presented on the breakfast table , there was a wide range of all different foods to meet the requirements of all guests taking breakfast .

Your staff were very attentive during my stay , very polite and courteous and the bar staff were very polite and courteous to all customers , the room was well presented with tea and coffee facilities , and the room I stayed in was well appointed I would have no hesitation in recommending your hotel to my family and friends

I liked the way Monica treated us, she was a true professional and made us extremely welcomed.

Breakfast was very slow and a long wait, but we understood there were staffing issues and a wedding being catered for, so couldn't really fault them

Location to Tilbury terminal for our cruise. Large rooms, Queen sized beds, very comfortable, average Aircon system too tackle the humidity outside. Good full English breakfast and plenty of free secure parking on site. Very much a wedding venue type hotel with outside eating areas and gardens. WiFi speed was adequate for streaming.

Had dinner in the hotel restaurant. Menu looked great but quality of for was average. Carbonara was tasteless. Rain Shower looked great but lacked water pressure totally, so just a gentle spray! Towels were thin and below average size.

Room was good size. Breakfast close at 10am which I find too early on a weekend. But they served us despite getting there around 9.59 and my in-laws got there after 10am. It's been a long time I have been to a restaurant where I have to order what I want for breakfast but it was good because my husband and in-laws who are Muslim had other options on the menu compare to if it was just full English breakfast. Apart from that it was good and we enjoyed it. Staff were exceptional

Early check-out and Breakfast finishing at 10am on a weekend. Breakfast closing time need to be extended because we were out till 2am in the morning and had to get up early for breakfast. Check out time should be extended to 12 as well like other hotels.

Excellent breakfast and good quality products. Nice variety of items too. Staff are very friendly, accommodating and welcoming. Amazing customer service, thank you. Good size superior double room, very clean, excellent amenities and comfortable. Food at the bar is pricey, but to be expected as it is hotel prices, but good portions and tasty. Ample parking (chargeable). This is the second time staying here, and I will return for a future trip.

Paying £3 per day to park. Not sure why guests are paying for this when it is private property, and there is nothing located nearby to warrant it.

The staff were fantastic and very friendly. All food was delicious. The room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. It was also quite quiet despite it being so close to a dual carriageway.

Not all rooms were as pictured on this site, some are rather dated and in need of refurbishment. The meal plan was a little misleading as you actually get a £25 allowance per person and most dishes on the restaurant were priced at more than this. The menu was also a little limited for myself as a vegetarian (only one option for main course)

Breakfast cost not included. We booked via booking.com and there was no clear indication of board basis such that I thought I had booked as B&B at £117 for 2 night stay but it turned out to be board only. I only found out when I gave our room no. 258 to staff. They said we owed another £12.95 for a cooked breakfast i was about to eat ! My wife had continental and was "let off" the charge. We then booked next day at £10 advance rate for breakfast but if not told would have paid higher £12.95 pp rate on the day. 1. Told about £3 parking charge paid at reception on arrival. 2. Not advised by email or by hotel on arrival of breakfast option and how we pay etc 3. Not told by hotel about pre booking rate of £10 per

The hotel looks amazing on the outside and on the inside, the grounds / gardens are very well kept. Plenty of secure parking is available with the parking bays providing ample room. After arriving late at the hotel due to changing hotels, I made it to the hotels restaurant with only 10mins to spare before it closed. Despite my late arrival the staff were extremely welcoming and promptly showed me to a table and served my drink. Two menus were available to order from. The 1st contained a good selection of the more usual hotel food ie. Burgers and pizza ect. The 2nd listed a selection of more upmarket dishes. From the 2nd menu I chose the Smoked duck with beetroot puree and radish for my starter. The duck was perfect. The flavours were very well balanced and complimented each other perfectly. For my main I chose the filet steak served with roasted tomatoes on the vine, mushrooms, chunky chips and a blue cheese sauce. Wow, Oli who prepared my steak cooked it absolutely perfectly. Simply put, it was most likely the best I've ever had the privilege of eating. The tomatoes, mushrooms, chuncky chips were also perfect along with the blue cheese sauce. What made this meal even more fabulous was the fact the there was a £25 voucher towards my.meal included in the £116 cost of the room for the night. The hotel staff were excellent overall. The reception staff (sorry I couldn't remember your name), were wonderfully welcoming and sympathetic to my situation that night. The on duty manager was also fantastic and very welcoming and made every effort to establish a relaxed and comfortable environment for all visiting. Will I revisit this hotel - most definitely! Wiould I recommend ghis hotel - most definitely 👍
