Alexandra Hotel

Location, location, location! Within 8 minutes (some less) of walking you find a train station, 5 metro lines and several overground services. The neighborhood is safe and nice and the hotel is on the edge of Hyde Park. The room and facilities were fine. Some things extremely well thought out and some not at all. Room: Great shower om the first floor, good lighting above the mirror, window that opens for fresh air, extra pillows available and plenty of coffee and tea. Breakfast was continental and well organized, but no variety between the mornings and limited choices. Based on the above and the downsides below, you get what you pay for: An affordable hotel at an amazing spot!

The room was dated and although probably clean, the dated appearance made it look less clean. The headboard of the bed was worn and the tv didn’t really work unless you kept pushing the cable back in. We were sisters traveling and the bed was barely a queen size (and short). Advice is to book a different room if you prefer a normal/larger bed. The heated towel rack was fixed on the wall right next to the toilet and could not be manually turned on/off. It was set pretty high in the evenings and through the night. This meant paying attention to not burn your arm when reaching for toilet paper.

Central location is great, near Edgware Road, Marble Arch and Oxford street. A plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby. Parking would be a bit of a hassle as there are little spaces available on site, and there’s residents parking in front of the door which can’t be used. The staff was super friendly, and the breakfast was ok with a selection of yoghurts, toast, croissants, cheeses/ cold meats, boiled eggs, etc. The bed was big and comfy, the room was small but neat. Great value for the price though!

Navigating through the floors was a bit difficult with heavy suitcases, but there are lifts. No AC in the rooms but glad there was a fan on the wall, which saved us! Sound isolation was a bit of an issue as we kept waking up from noises made pigeons all over the roof & other guests who were being loud at night.

The location is a 5 mins walk from Paddington Station( 15 min ride from Heathrow by EXPRESS). The hop on hop off bus service stops just a block away. The room is adequate for 3 though though there were just 2 of us ( they allow us an early check in to another room). The breakfast is pretty good with toast,cheese, deli ham, cereal, hardboiled eggs, yogurt and coffee / tea( milk froth).The staff was very helpful.

The hot water is not consistent; not warm most of the time. The elevators are not available to some rooms.

Good London location for Hyde Park, The Underground, Paddington. Spotless room with crisp white cotton sheets. Filled up on a big continental breakfast, tea and cornflakes before going out. Staff friendly and helpful.

Decor a little dated but so what since I only used the room for sleeping overnight and to leave bags during the day.

I've stayed in a number of small hotels over the past year, as I visit London once per month to teach. The Alexandra was certainly one of the best for comfort, cleanliness and location. The amenities in the room were more than adequate, and of special note was the cleanliness and state of repair - I've stayed in a few hotels where the basins are cracked, or mould shows in the bathroom - not here.

It was a bit noisy in the morning as my room was right next to the stairs that led to the dining room, but nothing that prevented me from sleeping well enough.

Room was clean, bed comfortable. We found breakfast to be good, with cereals, toast, yoghurts, fruit juice etc. Good location for our concert at Hyde Park.

Nothing really, rooms need a little upkeep (some cracked bathroom tiles, seal coming off bath etc.) but nothing that spoilt our stay.

Poor WiFi connection At breakfast, the layout needs to be more fluid. Customers going in and out of the restaurant having to.pass through customers trying to get their breakfast. Congestion like this increases the risk of transmitting infectious illnesses. Choice of milk, I had to buy my own, only whole milk offered Please offer marmite or peanut butter for the toast

Great breakfast and an amazing location close to Paddington and easy access to Hyde Park

Had a broken window handle on the room but that really was the only fault I could find. Definitely wouldn't put me off staying there again
