I liked the dual aspect of my room - I booked a double as a treat, just for me - and it was very quiet, at the back of the hotel, overlooking a private courtyard. The bed was comfy and the breakfast good. The Columbus is really a B&B as there is no evening meal facility or lounge / bar but there are plenty of good eateries a couple of minutes' walk away in London Street, including an Italian and a old fashioned style fish and chip cafe. The staff at the Columbus are very efficient and friendly.

I felt a bit uneasy on my last night - there is no concierge on site between 10.30 p.m. and around 7.00 a.m. and I was woken by a loud crashing outside my bedroom door, as though someone was rummaging in a cupboard in the corridor. My room was on the ground floor and I had to assume it was another guest rolling in somewhat the worse for wear (it was 4.00 a.m.) and struggling to find his / her room... I could have rung the parent hotel across the street but decided just to sit tight and wait for the noise to abate, which it finally did. As a lone woman traveller, however, this might be the deal breaker for me in respect of another stay at the hotel, alas.

The location was perfect for public transportation and to visit Hyde park. The room was nice, clean and private, and the staff were incredibly nice and thoughtful. They let us check in in the morning (around 10) and rest after our flight when we were supposed to come only in the afternoom. Also brought us vegan milk for breakfast. The breakfast is very basic and nice, I wish it had some fruit/vegetable.

The shower is very small and the room could use some basic equipment like hair dryer and coat hangers. Door was difficult to lock and some of the lights were weird.

A great little apartment, very comfortable bed, modern apartment, good communication with owners, clear check in instructions

Room was on the third floor, and only accessible by very steep stairs. I had trouble figuring out how to switch on the shower, which unfortunately meant two days without being able to use it. Turns out there Is a master switch underneath the TV! Posting this here as I came here looking for answers, so If anyone has the same issue you can find the answer.

Located in the leafy suburb of Paddington, very close to both the tube and Paddington station. Good selection of eateries close by, not far from Hyde Park for morning exercise. Room was one of the best space wise we have had in a London Hotel, with a street view. Room was comfortable, as was the bed with all expected facilities. Self serve continental breakfast was good.

Room on second floor, 43 steps to climb. However, the room itself was very good.

Staff were very friendly and polite. The quiet room I’d requested was exactly that and, even though it was on the ground floor, I couldn’t hear anything from the reception/breakfast area. (I could, however, hear the rumble of tube trains which was nice!). The (double) room was a great size for one person with everything needed for a three night stay. That said, the bed would have been too small for two, I think. Everything was exceptionally clean and the furniture, even if slightly dated, was largely in very good condition. The bathroom was very small but modern and well-maintained. The standard of housekeeping was excellent. The fan was very effective in lieu of air conditioning (and I was also able to open the window).

The curtains let in a lot of light so an eye mask is recommended to avoid being woken up too early. I also couldn’t figure out how to switch off the light in the short hallway between bedroom and bathroom which meant a small amount of light came under the bedroom door. (I could have asked at reception about this…I didn’t which shows it wasn’t a big issue for me.) Breakfast - a little off putting for this vegetarian that the ham and cheese were on the same plate, with only one utensil between them. Breakfast was basic but adequate.

The hotel is within a walking distance of the Paddington station. The room was cleaned every day. The breakfast was perfect. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

It would have been nice if the tea in the room was refilled every day. If you need a hairdryer, you need a 20 pound deposit.

Staff very pleasant. Especially Dana she was great. Always happy to engage in conversation about your day.

Our second stay was in a room with 3 single beds on the second floor. Very difficult to move around the small room with large & heavy suitcases. Also the lack of a lift made carrying large suitcases to the second floor not pleasant.

I thought the breakfast had a lovely selection, well stocked each day, beautiful dining area, kept clean, tidy and presented nicely, good ambience, and lots of natural light to make it even more relaxing

The only thing I can think of is the bedding, thin duvet and slightly hard pillows... But that's being harsh, overall really lovely room, well stocked and cleaned each day, excellent value for money

This hotel was good in every sense. Is it a luxury hotel? No, but it doesn’t pretend to be. The staff member at reception was friendly and informative. Checking in took no time at all. My room was clean, well stocked with an extra pillow, a fan, and toiletries. I wasn’t disturbed by noise at night time. I would stay here again as a solo traveller.

Perfect location 7-8 min to walk from Paddington station. Comfortable bed and sleep, all you need in the room, powerful shower and hot, breakfast included, fantastic service. Walking distance to shops, Hyde park, 30 minutes to walk to High Street Kensington, and only 28 minutes on the train from Paddington to Windsor (visiting Lego Land)
