Holiday Inn Express London - ExCel, an IHG Hotel

We were 4, 2 adults and 2 kids. The sofa was transformed into a bed for kids. So, the room became not spacious. Other than this, we were very much satisfied with the cleanliness, and breakfast. The DLR metro station is within walking distance of the hotel. However, you need to take another underground line (transfer) to go to the city center.

Really good breakfast!-lots of choice, and things were replaced as soon as they ran out. Staff on reception very helpful on check-in, location spot on for getting the DLR train into the city centre-would certainly stay again & would recommend!

No checks on who had booked breakfast? So, could anybody walk in off the street and have a breakfast?! Also, on day of checkout, whilst still in bed at 8:20-bearing in mind, didn’t have to check out until 11!-there was a quick knock on the door, which then was proceeded to be opened, presumably by staff?? We didn’t actually see who came in the room, so hoping it was staff and not somebody else with our room key!! They left very quickly on realising we were still actually in the room!!! Never had that happen before tbh!

Friendly staff at reception, the bar and staff who greet you at breakfast. Excellent breakfast, the quality is up there with the best hotels I've tried in the UK and its included in the cost of the room 😊. I wasn't expecting the food to be any good but the pizzas are really good. Other food my family members tried got good reviews too. The hotel facilities are good... Nice modern rooms. This hotel is definitely value for money. We have stayed there 3 times and will likely stay again in the future.

The bedroom carpet didn't look very clean.

The staff were lovely. Beds and room were really comfortable. Loved the shower. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was hot.

We were a bit disappointed with the check out time. All other holiday inn/express we stayed at the check out has been midday but this one was 11am which isn’t ideal when breakfast finishes at 11. For our trip this time we also felt we were a little too far out as both activities we had booked took us over 2 hours to get back to the hotel.

Great selection of full English and continental items for breakfast. Plenty of juices and hot drinks. Filled my plate, very tasty. Friendly staff to greet you and take your plates.

Cooked items could have done being slightly hotter. Other than that no real complaints. Thought the amount I paid just for one night was a bit too pricey. Hotel very near to City Airport will always be busy, so no real need to charge the amount paid.

Breakfast very nice and full every time. Staff rrally lovely, for example Fatou. She takes care of everybody. And the other lady she speaks too many languages and she interactive with customer.

The breakfast was awesome. There was a variety of things to eat, good quality food and the english breakfast was delicious! The room is big enough and confortable. The bathroom is spacious, too. The room is clean and the bed is comfy.

The hotel in itself is great, however keep in mind that it is a bit far away from the tourist sites and if you plan on going out at night, it is a long trip with the night bus. Nevertheless, it is still very accessible with DLR and metro during daytime.

The place of hotel was good because there was river at the opposite. We had chance to walk. There was a big park back side of the hotel. We had a small boy and that was good to have time at the outside. There is a overground station at almost 150mt far. All of the staff tried to give us best service. Our special thanks to Roxana and Susan. All of staff is lovely. Room was clean, bathroom was clean. There is no kitchen only. All staff were so careful with covid-19 rules. Hotel was clean completely.

Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful - the family rooms are a good size and more than enough for a family of 4 (2 small kids). I will definitely return to this hotel if I have the opportunity too.

The included breakfast was great, but it became tiring having the same thing every single day. Parking was a nightmare. The car park is full of pergolas or pillars which make it a tight squeeze to park in the first place. Then the hotel was super busy at the time, so it was a challenge even finding parking. I had to park in an adjacent public car park - at which point I found out that it was less than half the price of the hotel car park, to park for a week!

Cannot fault the stat whatsoever, the staff at breakfast absolute gems, and very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back once more.

Nothing really comes to mind. Only downside was hotel manager on shift on day I was leaving was rather rude to one of guests in my booking in regards to breakfast selection, and he seemed quite harsh to his staff, despite them being an absolute credit to your company.
