Thistle Bloomsbury Park

My husband and I found the hotel very charming, we chose it because it was close to our points of interest, we were in town to see some musicals. The area seemed safe and we found quick access to food. Right next to the hotel there was a Costa Cafe, which allowed us to drink fresh and delicious coffee in the morning. The room was spacious, well lit, although we had single beds we both slept comfortably.

The only thing I would remember was that the bathroom was very cold which made it a bit difficult for a woman in the morning when we spend an eternity in the bathroom to put on make-up. Also the water in the shower had trouble adjusting to a not boiling hot temperature.

The location was perfect for a stand up show we were going to see at the Bloomsbury Theatre. We were also able to walk from Euston, walk to the British Museum, walk to restaurants and cafés. It seemed reasonably priced for the location, quality of the rooms and facilities etc.

I am not hugely bothered by noise and have lived in London before so this is more to mention for suitability for others - but the downside of the great location is it could be a bit noisy for some. The room was on the smaller side, which was fine for our visit as we were mostly using the room just to sleep and shower, and not spending a huge amount of time there, but if we had spent longer there it might have felt a little cramped.

The location was fantastic and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Bed was also really comfortable and the room overall was very clean. The hotel also felt very secure and has a 24 hour reception in place. The facility of being able to leave luggage after checking out was also very helpful.

When I had booked my room it said that it included a bath which played a large part in my reason for booking to help relax ahead of the following morning. This was quite disappointing to have had a small bathroom with a shower instead. The window in the room was also quite old which had alot of condensation on it and it didn't really block out any of the sounds from the street below while I was trying to sleep.

Good location for our 1 night stay. 15 minutes walk from Euston Station and around 20 minute walk to Covent Garden. Staff very polite and we were able to leave a bag before and after our stay. Very comfortable bed and quality towels. Toiletries provided and adequate tea tray. Reasonable sized room with a sofa bed for seating and a swivel desk chair. Was a little warm when we stayed but we could open the windows and we weren't disturbed by any outside noise. We didn't sample the breakfast, so can't comment on that. Can recommend Cafe Tropea in Russel Square Gardens where we ate our breakfast Al fresco.

We actually stayed at Holborn around the corner due to the hotel moving us as they had to close Bloomsbury for covid staff shortages. It was a beautiful modern hotel within decent walking distance of the piccadilly line and a bus stop right outside that will take you to Liverpool Street. Staff were kind and welcoming and the rooms were a lovely size and very clean.

The A.c in the room was tricky and didn't allow you to do what you wanted as it was under centralised control according to the box , it so made a funny noise intermittently even when off. Also our room was at the back of the hotel which we liked apart from when the bin men came early hours to get the rubbbish one morning and woke us up.

I loved the history and the paintings. I loved my room and all the staff were so professional,friendly and polite. I will definitely stay here again. Very central and lovely views outside of the hotel. Loved the portraiture on the grand staircase! Very enchanting and charming hotel.

The bed was a bit too firm for my liking but the extra pillows were helpful to support my lower vertebrae. I would have liked to see a bit more variety on the room service menu. I also would have liked to have a guidebook on the paintings and artists of the artwork around the hotel. I left the information with the hotel as to the artist who did Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's portraits. Also some of the paintings and frames are in need of some tlc so they don't become further damaged. I was sad to see that there is restoration work needed on some of the frames.

Less than a 10 minute walk to Holborn station and buses almost outside the door. The bed was comfortable, room was clean, shower was hot, staff happy to help with neighbourhood queries

No fridge in room. It’s a basic in Australian hotels but not one hotel we stayed at during our UK holiday had a small fridge.

Location good for arrival station and for getting around London. Breakfast ok. Cold plates meant hot food went cold very quickly. Decent choice of food and drinks. Went to bar once but most beers out of stock. Not surprised it was quiet as needs better choice of drinks. Given quiet room. Quite small but not in there much anyway. Very comfy beds and clean room.

Shower blew shower curtain out so water went over mat and floor. Tea bags not restocked and no clean cups on one day.

Relatively central location close to the train station and British museum. Breakfast included in the rate we booked was great, good selection and tasty. Bed was comfortable.

Only a fan in the room, no Aircon, but worked well. Lift is absolutely tiny, could only fit one person at a time with our bags, and it was very very slow. Shower small with only a curtain.

The location was great and quiet, even though it was in a busy area. Bed was so comfortable and roomy. Breakfast was excellent.

There was only one small lift. Tea and biscuits in the room were missing and not often replenished during our week’s stay, nor were the complimentary toiletries, i.e, soap and shower gel/shampoo.
