Thistle Holborn

The foyer was well presented with friendly staff. Bonus is we could leave our luggage, free of charge, after we checked out to continue exploring London for the day and collect later. Water available on arrival and in the rooms provided sparkling water free of charge. The room was well equipped with iron and ironing board too. We stayed in their standard room as we weren't planning on spending much time there.

The floor boards in room 525 were squeaky in every part of the room. It wasn't a big deal for us, as we were using the room purely to sleep and get ready there but could be beneficial to the hotel to know this.

We can highly recommend this hotel for all different reasons - very convenient location between two tube stations in walking distance, size of the rooms and bathrooms (and size of the shower itself was very good - we are tall people and we know what we are talking about :-) enough of the storage space, tea kettle and teas/bisquits... We have also taken breakfast and think that it was good value for money as well - very good selection of warm and cold, sweet and savoury, fresh fruits. Two big coffee machines and fast toaster. What more to desire for? We have actually written to hotel in advance to inform them that this trip will be for my mum's birthday and they treated us to bottles of prosecco and big fruit bowl plus hand written card in the room - that was nice surprise and we really appreciated that.

We honestly cannot think of anything that we would dislike. Perhaps in the colder months the windows may l let some cold draft. In May that was just welcomed airing :-)

Overall the Thistle offers generous room and bathroom size when compared to other hotels of a similar price range. The room was spacious (for London), nicely designed and clean. The hotel itself retained some heritage features while offering modern comforts, its location is also a short walk to all the west-end action.

The only disappointment was the member of staff on arrival, very unfriendly and we felt like a number being quickly processed rather than a guest turning up for their holiday. They failed to even say hello and welcome! Other than that the staff in general were polite.

I stayed 9 days at the Thistle and it was a very enjoyable and comfortable stay! There's a few reviews complaining about sound and heating issues but I never experienced any trouble. Our room was located in a quiet corner and the AC worked great. The room was spacious and every day they would leave us water bottles which was a nice touch after walking so much around London. I highly recommend the Thistle. The location is fantastic as it's close to many great restaurants and things to see.

They clean your room every day - where they replace your towels, clean the toilet seat and bathtub, make your bed, and vaccum. However, I noticed a lot of the corners and counters still had dust on them so it wasn't a super thorough cleaning (in case this bothers you). The room overall was clean but just had neglected areas.

Great location in central London; nice and spacious rooms and bathrooms, nice rain shower option and overall decor. This sounds simple but it's very difficult to find this for a reasonable price in central London. Would stay again.

Many rooms don't include an in-room refrigerator. Staff were hit and miss in terms of their level of politeness and helpfulness. Room didn't include all of the furniture intended (missing desk chair).

The location was excellent, close enough to the theatre to walk and easily accessible from the tube. The room was clean and had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and the aircon was essential in the hot weather. I slept better than I had in weeks. The room was peaceful and quiet without noise seeping in from inside or outside the hotel.

The breakfast was ok although only one hot drinks machine was working so there were long queues and the morning wait staff were quite hard to track down to get cutlery or alert to the fact that the water dispenser was empty. The dining chairs should be rethought as they are too chunky for the dining space and getting in and out of the table was difficult.

The hotel is in an excellent location. Outside the hotel, there are several bus lines and the tube service within a 5-minute walk. There is a large supermarket nearby and plenty of restaurants and cafes. The rooms are clean, there are bottles of water every day. Comfortable beds.

The hotel is located on a main road and the room that was located on the side of the hotel was noisy. We left a shirt on the bed and it disappeared. We did not receive any treatment from the reception and they did not bother to give us compensation for the new shirt.

An ideal and great hotel for exploring London. Walking distance to Horborn, Piccadilly tube, direct line from Heathrow airport. The bus stop is in front of hotel. The room was already ready, even though we arrived 2 hours earlier. The staff was nice and willing to advise us where to go and how to get there. We had a nice little gift prepared in our room for our birthdays. The room was spacious (for London). It was clean, cleaned daily, with safe, iron, hair dryer, TV, air conditioning. The bed hardness of mattresses were just enough. The window could not be opened much, nor could it be closed, but there was no noise from the street and we slept well. The breakfasts were rich, everything was fresh, including fruit and vegetables. The hotel bar and restaurant were a pleasant place after a day's walking. If you don't choose, there are tons of great small restaurants around. Perfect starting point to explore London - British Museum is around the corner, SOHO starts 4 crossroads, New Oxford street shopping starts on the corner ... The Covent Garden is about 10 min. walk.

We would have liked a fridge in the room

We liked the location and the charm of the hotel. It's in a nice area across from British Museum and had convenient places to eat nearby. Also buses right in front, easy access to cab and train (tube). Hotel staff is friendly, but not full service unless you specifically request it.

More full service hotel, staff should ask what we need and have a few quesitons to ensure our stay was a success. We had to ask for a lot of basic stuff which wasn't provided initially.
