The Bear

Thankyou to Sian and Gwil for yet another comfotable stay in The Bear. This is the third time we have stayed ,and each time, Sian especially cannot do enough to make you feel comfortable. She is absolutely lovely.It is exceptionally clean, and rooms have everything you need including wifi and plenty of plug sockets in accessible places. Bed was comfortable, loved the sky light in the room and breakfast ( i think cooked by Gwil) was delicious. Its an excellent location for the Elan valley, Sian locks our cycles in her shed which is very useful, and there are plenty of small independent shops and places to eat ( would recommend The Crown). Well done and thank you both, we will be back for a fourth stay at some point hopefully!

I stayed for 4 nights and 5 days travelling solo around the area. Rhayader is a beautiful place, friendly, nice pubs, cafes & Elan valley is just a few minutes away. The room was just right for me. Sian was lovely. We had a nice little natter each morning. Clean, parking good, overall fab 👌 I didn't book breakfast, but I'll definitely try when I book again. I will use this place as a base when I'm exploring the area. I recommend without hesitation. Visit Gigrin Farm and see the red kites feeding, it's a great experience 💛🌳🚶‍♂️🦅

Not a dislike, just a pointer. The matress was more worn on one side, so if solo guests are staying often I would suggest that the matress is turned & flipped over regularly to stop a dint forming on one side. The room walls dont seem to be very thick. I'd suggest taking ear plugs if you're sensitive to other sounds from adjacent rooms when it comes to sleep time.

The property was in the town centre and conveniently located. Large parking area for free car parking. I booked a double-bed room and a room with twin beds, both en-suite. Rooms were very nicely decorated; spacious; and well-lit. Beds were comfortable. Sufficient wardrobe space and a writing table with a chair. Room cleaning provided. Bathrooms and showers were clean and worked well. Host was friendly and helpful. My family and I had a very pleasant stay.

The room heating could work a bit more consistently; heating came on and off.

The large bed was fabulous and very comfortable. Being located in the heart of town was also great for being able to easily walk to a number of quality bars and restaurants. The hosts were fabulous and attended to a small maintenance matter for us rather quickly. For a couple that were touring Wales there was also a quality self service launderette within 1 minute walk away which was also very convenient.

We could hear the TV in the neighboring room but they were very courteous and turned it off after 10:30pm

Good communication when booking, clean & comfortable room and we were able to lock away our bikes for the night. Sian was very helpful and recommended a great pub for dinner (Triangle Inn). Easy to find on the High Street and very good value.

Bring some cash - if you book breakfast separately from the room you'll need cash to pay. But no worries, there's a cashpoint on the opposite side of the road so you can always run and get some out.

The room was excellent, it was wasted on a single traveller. It had lots of character and the exposed beams posed more architectural conundrums than they answered. The host was very attentive without being overbearing and she was very keen that I had an enjoyable stay.

very little, it is worth noting that The Bear is no longer a functioning pub/hotel but a B and B. It is no less for this but the buildings frontage gives the impression that it is what it is not

Nice big room located close to a general store and several restaurants. Managers were friendly and accommodating. Parking was available.

Bed was a little uncomfortable due to being the two bolted together type. Breakfast was a little early, so we did not partake but as it was additional there was no problem. Just along the road was a restaurant with a good breakfast from 10am.

Sian was a lovely host and really made me feel welcome. She also kindly took my wet motorcycling clothes to the warm cellar to dry. The room was furnished nicely and the shower room was excellent with a super nice and powerful shower.

I'm quite sensitive to noise and my room was next to the road, and being an older building meant the road noise was quite noticeable unfortunately. I'd stay again but ask to be in a room away from the road.

lovely room , very clean ( nice one housekeeper ...I have been a housekeeper myself ...all was lovely !) a very welcoming reception ....took me to my room after showing where to park easily. ; lovely oak beams in my room and white linen ! the white cotton linen was a def plus !(lots of places don't have this anymore ) a very enjoyable stay

was left at the door after ringing several times ..a quicker welcome would have been nice

We were given the option to pay for breakfast, but we used the time for a lie in as had to be out by 10am. The room was immaculate and a great size, the location was ideal for the village.

There was nothing we didn't like. The bathroom could have been a bit bigger but best use of the space has been made as the room we stayed in was not small - the decor was beautiful with the beam features - just beautiful
