Granby Hotel

Location was great, few minutes walk to beach and resturants where the food was fantastic. Castle was just round the corner aswell. No onsite parking but has a long stay car park just opposite. Scarborough arms pub just to rear of hotel, very clean and welcoming pub. Room was a bit small but very clean and comfortable, with clean on suite shower. Would definitely stay again.

Yes, the hotel does have limited reception hours but does make this 100% clear with signs everywhere explaining with a phone number to call if anything is required. There is refill stand next to the stairs with extra toilet rolls, coffee etc. There is also a shelf below the tourist information rack that holds hair dryers and irons and as we left we saw an ironing board. So they have lots of items people may need in places they can get them. Yes, they have no bar but there is a lovely pub literally around the corner called the Scarborough Arms which was decently priced and did amazing food and a couple of local shops in the area. The room was very clean with lots of storage space, TV, hot shower, shampoo/body wash etc. It was very quiet and family friendly (we stayed Friday night) and had zero problems with noise. It's a slow 10 min walk down a hill to get to South beach attractions. Another 10 min walk to get to Scarborough Castle / Anne Brontë grave. Another 10/15 min walk to Northbay and peasholm park so it's a perfect location. And excellent staff happy to give advice or help as needed and at any time due to them having personal phone numbers posted on the signs which is above and beyond in my opinion. There is no breakfast served but we went to a great little cafe just round the corner called the conservatory which did a special involving sausage, bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, chips, bread and fried bread for 3.95 when bought with a drink. Can't get better than that to start your day!! Excellent hotel in an excellent location for good value. Recommend 100% and will be coming back.

I would've like to have been able to open our window as we slept but it wasn't a problem and didn't affect us in anyway, just our personal preference and I saw other rooms had this feature.

Excellent location. You could say it is dated and old, however it was clean, comfortable and everything in the room and bathroom worked OK. Towels, toilet roll, soap, shower gel, tea and coffee all provided, meaning for the centre of Scarborough it was excellent value for money. Also no bar or dining on site, which meant no noise in the evening, night and morning. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby so not an issue. I had a warm welcome, everything explained, and then just left to enjoy. Most importantly I had a good night's sleep, the mattress was of good quality and very comfy.

Did not get onto the WiFi, tried but no joy, mind you I didn't ask for help or advice from staff so maybe an issue caused by myself.

The location is great for reaching both the town and the seafront. There is a pay car park opposite which apart from being well lit is also covered by cctv. The room is smallish but comfortable. Plenty of tea/coffee and extras near reception if needed. The bathroom has a walk in shower which was hot and powerful. Massive tv in room which was great

Not something that the hotel can control but traffic noise especially motorbikes racing round early hours was not good but you can get that anywhere

Location was great, no great views but its literally 2 minutes walk to the seafront, staff were pleasant, plenty of parking nearby, rooms were tidy with drink making facilities and towels, nice clean bed and plenty of storage for clothes if staying longer. If you're visiting the castle thats also only a few minutes walk up the road from here.

Rooms don't have much in the way of soundproofing, you heard everyone walking past the door onto the main corridor clearly, as well as anything upstairs all night despite the high ceilings. Fortunately the guests were pretty considerate but it might be a consideration if you're a light sleeper. The room was generally very clean and tidy although the bathroom/shower had a little black mould in some areas which sullied that slightly

Friendly staff, I was allowed to leave my chair in what I guess used to be a bar. You could top up the tea/coffee /milk in your room without having to find someone (i use a lot of milk) plenty of places to eat and not far from the town centre. Clean room nice location with carpark opposite. The Scarborough Arms is literally a short cut through behind so not far from good food for naughty days.

Would have been better if food was included. Couldn't connect to the WiFi and the shower only seemed to stay hot when the heating was on.

It is a good location, near to the station, town centre and both beaches. The heating was on in the room all the time and it was a pleasant temperature. I wasn’t in a car, but there is a pay and display car park just across the road from the hotel.

The windows needs replacing. There were 3 cracks in the glass, covered with sellotape and a note on saying the window is awaiting repair. These are old single glazed windows. Not sure when they will be repaired / replaced. They seem to be taking COVID concerns over and above what they need to - still not doing breakfast, any bar snacks / evening meals and no daily cleaning in rooms (for instance emptying the bin). It was quite noisy on Sat night from the Scarborough Arms pub next door, but rest of the week okay and not noisy from other guests.

My room was very clean and comfortable. The ensuite shower room was quite spacious. I enjoyed use of the TV and refreshments and with being on the second floor I was able to have the window open. It was quiet too and I enjoyed just relaxing for a while.

Just a minor thing. I would have liked a chair as the bed was quite high which was lovely to sleep in, but not easy to just sit on . There was a low stool, which was okay, but not ideal for watching tv, for example.

The property is really well situated a short walk into town and to the beach. The room was bright and cheerful with a really comfortable bed and big thick bathsheets. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Coffee and tea tray was provided with spare refills in a basket at the bottom of the stairs for guests to help themselves. It was excellent value for money and we will book this property again. 👍

There wasn't any hot water to the sink although the shower was fine and had plenty of hot water.

My stay was work related - I needed to catch an early train from Scarborough and an overnight stay was the best/most convenient way to do this. Thus, was looking for convenience more than anything eles: somewhere in walking distance to the station, close to some eateries and comfortable. It ticked all of these boxes. As an added bonus, the bed linen was lovely - really good quality white cotton - felt quite luxurious.

There was a water pipe in the corner of the room which was noisy whenever a neighbouring room ran water.
