Great location close to the shops, restaurants and a short distance from the beach and harbour. The rooms are above a sports type bar with TV monitors on the individuals tables and a large screen next to a small stage area. A great mixed choice of music playing for the clientele mainly from the soul era up to present day, with many of the customers aged around the 30s and upwards. A nice atmosphere. Comfy bed, ok room, good breakfast. I was advised of a Turkish/Greek restaurant just around the corner which served excellent food, especially the steaks. Would definitely go there again.A

Check in was easy Parking information was clear Beds were exceptionally comfortable Breakfast was delicious with good quality produce Staff went out of their way to make sure we were looked after Location was central Room was clean Great friendly atmosphere downstairs in the bar area

Prices were not very competitive, as it was only £3 more for us to stay in a spa hotel nearby. The ratings on Booking.com and the fact that we would not have made use of the spa facilities were the only reasons we did not go with the hotel.

The Dicken's Bar and Inn has a fantastic location just off the centre of town (shopping), a short walk to the beach and all the Arcades, Bars & Restaurants on the sea front. The room was a decent size, especially the bathroom, clean and well equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Breakfast consists of a small but ample selection of cereal, Full English with a choice of eggs and numerous combinations on toast. We ordered the Full English and we were not disappointed. We were attending a Wedding in the area and I had cheekily asked for an earlier check in. When I enquired at the Bar how we checked in the young lad was fully aware of my early arrival and quoted my name without me mentioning it. He then gave me further instructions on exactly where I needed to be and that his Manager would meet me at that desk. I am extremely impressed with this level of customer service. Every member of staff we came into contact with during our stay were polite, friendly, and efficient. They all made us feel as if they truly cared about our visit being exceptional.

The only drawback and I do not hold them in any way responsible for this unfortunate fault is the parking issue. As with many hotels in this prime location, parking is a problem. They supply a Parking Permit for a small charge but finding a space for your vehicle can be an issue. There is a parking area very close to The Dickens but it is available to all the other Hotels in the same area. Our stay was in August when obviously as a seaside town Scarborough is pretty busy and I m sure that parking is easier at other times of the year so please consider other forms of travel if possible.

The member of staff who greeted us on Friday afternoon was really welcoming on Reception, we then went into the bar for a drink and she was also working in the bar and was lovely to all of the customers. We were then suprised to see her at breakfast the next morning and continued to give great customer service. We asked if we could leave all our luggage for the day on Saturday, as we were checking into a holiday apartment for a week, again she was really gracious and did this without issue. Due to this staff member, we will look forward to returning. She couldn't do enough !!! thankyou !!!

Room 3 was a little small... fine for one night but a little cramped

Took my mum and dad for a weekend, the location was good, 1 min walk to town centre.. although located on top of the hill there is a tram lift just across the road to take you down to the sea front for those who cant walk steep hills. I had a room on my own which to my delight had a bath with a shower over the bath. It's very rare you find baths in hotel rooms anymore, this was great news to my feet.. The restaurant was lovesley, windows all round so plenty of light and was lovely and clean Breakfast which was included was another bonus, usually for the same price breakfast is extra.

The lift is quite small only for 2 people, I put my bags in with my mum and dad then met them up the stairs.

I loved this stay. Stayed in room number 8 with a Sea View on the top floor. It was a really good location and was right in the town centre with the option of either a short walk down the hill to the seafront or a ride on the Victorian Tramway for £1.30 per person. Breakfast was great. Room was super clean. Very efficient and friendly staff. We stayed here as we were going to the Open Air Theatre. We got a taxi there for £6.75 and a town centre bus back for £3 each which dropped us off right outside. It is a pub but we could not hear any noise from the pub so whatsoever. The weather was also red hot but the hotel staff had made sure we had a fan in the room which was great! They did also allow us to check out at 11am - I think this does depend on the availability and is not always possible but it it is proof that they will do it where they can!

The ONLY minor criticism I would have is there are not a lot of plug sockets. We managed to locate three but two were in use for the fan and the TV. We had to take it in turns to charge our things. Easily rectified issue - went and got a small extension lead so we could use a few plugs at once.

Amazing staff and the bedroom was so amazing too. There is only one thing the bath could do with a handrail when you're getting out it was so slippery. My wife struggled to get in and out she has long COVID but apart from that it was amazing and I will always recommend any of my friends to stop at your amazing hotel. Could you do one thing for me please could you tell your breakfast staff the breakfast was so nice and we loved every bit of it. Thank you again for making our stop over so amazing it's a 10 out of 10 from both of us

Love the locality of the hotel. We arrived early and the young man in the bar was very helpful with our bags and helped us with parking.

On our last day we were in the dining room and after 10 minutes were asked for our order. 25 minutes later nothing had arrived no breakfast no tea or toast. Spoke with the waitress who said she was on her own and I said you could at least brought us our tea. When it did arrive it was cold so I told here and eventually she brought us some hot water to pour into the cold tea mmm

The twin room accessed by a lift was very clean with good quality, decent sized towels. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. Plenty of well cooked food served by pleasant staff. All very good value for money. The evening live music in the bar below was an added bonus!

Difficulty getting hot water in the shower on 2nd morning. Parking was also difficult because the pay and display car park was extremely busy, there were no spaces and parking in the multi storey opposite is quite expensive.
