The room was absolutely stunning. Huge by New York standards. The most comfortable super king bed, softest sheets, fluffy pillows that I had to look and see the make of to get some at home! Our room had a balcony and was right by the Hotel Chelsea sign. The hotel staff were so kind and generous. We got an upgraded room and a bottle of wine to celebrate our anniversary. Breakfast the next day was gorgeous - tons of smoked salmon on Herby cream cheese and sourdough. Eaten in a lovely setting too. We just couldn't believe how lovely and characterful everything was and it was such a privilege to stay in a hotel with so much history. This is not a normal hotel, it's exceptional and unique.

Nothing I didn't like. I was completely blown away!

This hotel has a lot of history and is an important institution in NYC. All floors and corridors are full with wonderful paintings. my room was amazing with 2 walk in wardrobes, a luxurious bathroom and stylish bedroom. This is rock'n'roll flair for wealthy people. I chose this hotel because it was mentioned in some article that it had been recently renovated. Definitely nothing looked worn. It is certainly a very special place! Breakfast was separate, and there isn't a buffet. But I had the best (and most expensive) avocado toast ever and the breakfast room was the most wonderful room decorated in period style. It is certainly an unforgettable experience to stay at this beautiful and historic hotel!

Considering the rich history of this hotel, I was surprised that there were no placards or information boards telling about all the stories that could be told or informing about all the art pieces hanging in the staircase and the corridors. Customers must figure out themselves and find info on wikipedia. Reception staff were nice, but I expected more of a "wow" treatment at a hotel of this price range. I was also not sure about the security at the hotel. Anyone can walk in, use the lifts and access all floors of the hotel. The lock on my door would not turn, so I could not lock my room with the additional lock. I would have liked to do that as a solo woman traveller.

Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade - to a Deluxe King Studio with Tub. This room was exquisite - inlaid hardwood flooring, generous storage, a sofa and two chairs. Beautiful cream curtains and blackout curtains over top. The area rug was very plush, heaven on tired feet at the end of the day. James at the front desk was always helpful with calling us a taxi, and helping to navigate Penn Station to the NJ train to Newark Intl Airport. While the hotel is not quite ready with full dining facilities, the El Quixote Bar was fantastic for cocktails and an adequate menu. For the busy location, the room was very sound tight helping with a restorative sleep. I will stay here any time I am in New York. As a designer myself, hats off to this meticulous restoration of a landmark NYC building.

The Marshall speakers need a specific auxiliary plug to use, and to use Netflix on the TV one has to download an app and progress through multiple steps. Not easy after a good dinner, or for those technically challenged.

One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at. A true gem in New York City. The rooms were incredibly comfortable with small elegant touches that payed homage to the history of the building. Can’t wait to return!

The design and details of the hotel and our room were beautiful. Nice hotels in Manhattan, even just a decent place, are typically insanely expensive and not worth it. The Hotel Chelsea is a great value for such a gorgeous room with so many comforts. Super comfortable bed and linens, robes and slippers, modern and large shower/bathroom, plenty of space for suitcases and a nice closet, a mini bar. The hotel staff is all very friendly and helpful. The "lobby bar" is gorgeous and had fantastic cocktails and excellent service. The location is great, very central Chelsea, so easy to get around, tons to walk to.

Great location, walking distance to many sites and restaurants. Unique design, has character. Clean and quiet room. They provide sleepers, tooth paste, in addition to staples like shampoo, soap and body lotion. The most extensive mini bar I've ever seen. Basic free breakfast included (baked goods, butter & jam, coffee, including oat milk)

No where to sit in the room other than the bed. The space could really be better utilized to include a chair and table. No luggage rack. Super slippery shower. The window looks out to other windows. The fridge has plastic dividers with allocated slot for each mini bar item, not much space left to store your own items.

This hotel, and the history of this hotel, makes it a unique and special place. Not a chain, nothing corporate and all the better for it. The renovation of this hotel has been executed with great care and consideration and is both tasteful and sympathetic to the memory of the former Hotel Chelsea. Your preferred location will vary on your reasons for being in NYC, but Chelsea offers an excellent "all round" location. The staff are superb; charming, good humoured, efficient and beyond accommodating. The hotel bar and adjoining Spanish restaurant are first rate. The breakfast offered was excellent - although restricted compared to the vast, but average, buffets offered elsewhere... Everything provided here is of quality and taste. This hotel will not appeal to everyone, but it will appeal to anyone discerning and with a sense of the individual.

It is not a case of not liking it - but for those unaware do be aware the hotel is currently still undergoing renovation (July 22) and so certain facilities are not yet available (e.g. pool, fitness etc.) and not all the rooms are ready. There are also works in progress about the hotel - although this did not have a negative impact on the stay in any way. The hotel is shared with residents - so be prepared to meet them, their pets, bicycles, groceries and guests in the public spaces. Again - not a negative, it is part of the hotel, but if unaware it is something to remember.

Might have liked some more variety with the continental breakfast over the length of our stay, but the quality was excellent. Fairly quiet room given it's the city. Lovely room, loved the balcony doors we could open. Air con was good. Halls were quiet. I think they have promo pricing now which was at the top of our budget for sure, so not sure we will afford to come back. For what we got and that it's NYC, the pricing was good. Loved the history of the place. Wifi was very good.

Lounge has small bites in the evening and there is the Spanish restaurant next door, but we didn't go to either because we were traveling with a kid who wouldnt have liked the menu. It's more of an adult hotel so it's not really a complaint.
