The Hotel at Fifth Avenue

Lots of space. Good location in Korea Town. 20 minutes walk to many of the Broadway theaters and 1 min walk away from the nearest metro station. Good amount of storage. Rooftop bar - drinks are nothing special but cool area to hang out with a view of the Empire State Building. Bag storage is available but we were able to check in an hour early, which was convenient.

No attempt at sound proofing so could hear street noise 7 stories up. Bring ear plugs especially for Fri and Sat nights! The A/C unit was also noisy so didn't want to sleep with it on. Pillows were pretty thin and only a thin blanket provided. We needed to ask for extra blankets. No breakfast provided.

Resort fees is unnecessary and irrelevant because we didn't use gym and pool. It should include free coffee lounge. Whoever want to use pool or gym, they can pay for such facilities.

Location was great!

It was quite nosy I can't lie and the room was small with the AC on the floor taking up half the room.

The bed was very comfortable, shower water pressure and water heat were excellent. Location was great. Room size was decent.

The towels are paper thin and never dry during the day, so they have to be changed daily. They're also quite small so a larger person will likely need more than one. Noise out the window could bother some people – we had a rear room and there was machinery humming outside, we got used to it after one night and it even worked as a kind of white noise. Street side rooms are probably noisy because of foot traffic. The AC is also very noisy, if you come during summer you'll probably not be able to sleep with it. The iron was of bad quality and sullied one of our shirts with burn residue.

The location is fantastic. The hotel is a gorgeous building. The staff, however, are what made our stay. We were greeted everyday. We had an issue with the AC one day and the maintenance person literally rode the elevator back up with me and it was fixed in less than 30 minutes. The housekeeper was magic and somehow around every day when we were leaving the room and made sure we had everything we needed. They could not have been nicer. We will come back here on our next trip.

The only thing that gets a slight ding is the mattress. It was like a memory foam that just collapsed under you so you felt like you were sleeping on the box frame.

I stayed in room 906 on the 9th floor and got a room at the back with a view of roofing equipment (as always), but I must say I was very impressed with this hotel. From check-in, the gentlemen was so friendly and even made a joke, which lighened my droopy jet-lagged mood. Surprisingly, the security deposit was minimal compared to the previous hotels I've stayed. For safety, there are security stationed in the lobby area. The hallways are very well lit and clean, and the room was very big (compared to previous hotels where I stayed), it was beautiful, clean, well lit, and had all the amenities as listed in the hotel ad. There is also a small gym in the basement, which I got to use once. Most of the staff had a great attitude toward guests. There was an African American young man (may be a security) who held an umbrella over me and my friend's head and individually walked us to our Lyft waiting outside in the pouring rain. We were so grateful. Thank you, sir. The housekeeping staff did a superb job with the daily cleaning, organizing, and restocking the room with toiletries and coffee packages, and although I didn't have much cash to leave them a tip, they kept on cleaning the room faithfully and beautifully every day. The AC in the room stopped working by the 3rd day into my stay, so the room became very hot. However, I never reported it until the day before I checked out, so it was my fault for enduring the prolonged discomfort, because when I eventually reported it, it was sorted in less than 5 minutes.

The location was ideal. Although at night it was bonkers it’s in the heart of Korea town so it was busy all the time. The trash gets put out at night so at the time the street is lined with bin bags etc. That didn’t put us off though. We literally were only in the room to sleep and get showered etc so spent minimal time in the hotel. The lobby area was fine and it’s easy to get to and only a block or 2 away from the ESB.

The lift is very slow. It is dated and the rooms do need a modern refreshment. However for the price and location I wouldn’t grumble too much as it is right next to the ESB and I’d say probably equal distance from down town Manhattan and Times Square.

The location is excellent! The room was spacious and the bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on!

It was a little noisy at night. DO NOT BOOK TAXI WITH THE CONCIERGE!! He told us one price to the airport and when we were getting out of the taxi they tried to charge us over 20 more ! They said he got the price wrong and we still had to pay. We got it down a bit but still we were not impressed. Take an Uber. The cleaner through out our leftover pizza we were saving for dinner which was frustrating but it’s possible she thought it was for the bin.

Clean and convenient... the staff was friendly and accommodating. I couldn't get the wireless on my laptop to work and all I had to do was ask the desk. They gave me a Ethernet cable and got me online right away. Complimentary coffee in the morning and filtered water 24/7 on the lower level. Another plus was the ice machine on floor 4. Subway is a block away. Close to everything midtown.

Koreatown is very busy from noon on so the street was kinda tight to move around. Just a location observation though. It was fine for me

Location is perfect, a street down from the Empire State Building, lot of subway connections and Times Square in walking distance. The bed was extremely comfortable, we had really good night sleeps! Heater was really loud so we didn't use it for sleeping, but the duvet was warm enough even though it was minus at night. Nice little rooftop bar on view to the Empire State Building on the 14th floor. Daily cleaning and new towels was great after spending all day in NYC. Coffee maker in the room.

Heater was really noisy. We got use to the street sounds eventually, but it's a very busy street in Korea town and the windows aren't keeping too much noise outside. Sometimes we had hair on our towels.
