The breakfast was good, with the price we pay, we got a lot of variety, typical Japanese breakfast. Very impressed by the little plates they used for each dish. Our favourite is the omelette dish, after you consumed the food, the reflection of the Mt. Fuji dramatically appeared in the plate. Service was excellent, appreciated the kindness and thoughtfulness of the owner, he did everything by himself. The dining area was spacious and we always meet different international travellers in the breakfast room, a lot of interesting conversations. Good onsen, and you can see Mt. Fuji on the toproof if weather permits. It is the Japanese style tatami, an unique experience.

You have to walk outside your room to use the toilet, otherwise, it is a great ryokan experience.

Akaishi has a wonderful location right on Lake Kawaguchi. It is not too far from the train station and close to a good bike rental spot, so if you are planning to bike around Kawaguchiko, this is a great base. Breakfast is delicious and I would highly recommend adding it. The rooftop offers a direct view of Mt. Fuji when it is out, so we would wake up on a cloudy morning, eat, and then head to the roof when the clouds had cleared enough to see it. You can book some private onsen time if you want it for an additional fee, just talk to the owners! They are so nice.

The location is a little far from dinner spots (10+ minute walk), so plan accordingly.

The experience we had here was memorable. Comfortable rooms, excellent location, right on the lake and above all, the stellar view of Mount Fuji from the roof top and over looking the lake. This is a million dollar view with a peaceful ambiance. You can walk to the station along the lake, the local bus is less than five minutes away. Very convenient. A shout out to the breakfast which was excellent. The owner went out of his way to prepare a full traditional Japanese breakfast with an aesthetic, that made the experience so memorable. Delicious! Thank you for a wonderful experience and we will be back. Thank you also to the reviewers who recommended this place, otherwise we would have missed out. High recommended 10/10

Loved everything

This is a traditional, simple ryokan, located along the lake, about 25 minutes walk from the station. They offer transport to the station the morning you leave but not pick up. The walk, however it's absolutely gorgeous if you don't have much luggage. We stayed in the Japanese style room with tatami and had a perfect wiew of mt Fuji from our window. The toilet was located outside the room but it was close and very clean. The Japanese breakfast in the morning was scrumptious. And, though we didn't have dinner included, there are a few restaurants nearby and facilities to worm up food and eat it in the room.

Beautiful ryoken! The town was nice and quaint. The rooftop area has a wonderful view, as do the rooms. The room is nice and traditional, and they supply a beautiful yukata. Worth it for the view alone. Oh, and there was a nice onsen to use, which was wonderful. The stuff to do around there was plentiful, making me wish we had spent more time. I really liked the bus circulator that would take you to many different cool sites, and cost only a small daily fee.

It was fine, but we had to set up our own futons, with the help of some instructions. The bathrooms were all communal and down the hall - which is fine, but reminded me a little of being in a hostel.

We did discover for two days “Kawaguchiko” near Fujisan (Mt. Fuji) and stayed a night at “Akaishi Ryokan”. This was our first experience at traditional and family owned Ryokan and not our last at this wonderful place. It was just an amazing experience as we could recover near the lake and mountains after 5 days Tokyo. The owner picked us up from the station Kawaguchiko and recommended us some restaurants for Dinner on the way to his Ryokan. Also he brought us back the next day to the station after check out. The family is very kind and helpful. It was all clean, nicely decorated and quite. We slept very well and loved to wear the Yukatan inside the ryokan. Also the onsen was nice to use and relaxing after our small hikes. The Japanese breakfast was brilliant and nicely arranged. And we had an amazing view from our window to the lake and on the rooftop to the area and especially to “Mount Fuji”. Thank you for an unforgettable time - we hope to visit and stay at your Ryokan again.

No points/comments here. Everything was good.

The owners were very welcoming and kind, we had an excellent breakfast. This ryokan is very family oriented, like a family boarding house. It is very quiet, an easy walk to the station, near a good café and dimsum restaurant, with a great view over the lake and beautiful view of Fujisan from the roof terrace. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We liked it all, but we have stayed at family minshuku often. Guests need to know what to expect and to know how to follow the rules correctly

Most comfortable futons we had in Japan, owner upgraded us to a larger room with a direct view of Mt Fuji for free since we were the only guests in the ryokan. Free hot drinks and the hottest onsen bath imaginable, really rejuvenating. Wonderful hospitality with free yukata loan, 360 views of the lake and mountain from the roof terrace, and the breakfast was delicious. Great facilities and good location.

We visited in the dead of winter and the hallway was quite cold (not heated), just make sure you have a jacket or something to pull on if you need to make a midnight toilet trip.

Great location is just Infront of Lake Kawaguchi. Small Ryokan with very nice Mt Fuji view from rooftop. Great breakfast traditional Japanese set provided by friendly owner. and have free tea pack and coffee in front of the desk as well. Our room is triple room, there was share toilet and hot springs, all facilities is well prepared for us all the time. Hot spring with share bathroom at ground floor, very clean and they hot spring is really nice! enjoyable. Strongly recommended for families with kids, they will really enjoy and experience the difference between Hotel and Ryokan.
