Nice retreat. Location is about a 20 - 30min bus ride from Hakone station. From the retreat you can walk / bike (45min / 20 min) to hike the nearby mountain with a view over Fuji. I stayed 1 night which was fine. There isn't that much to do in the area so I'd recommend max 2 nights. All-day free, GOOD coffee (hard in Japan), in the cafe. A nice little place on the premises. This adds quite a lot if you want to chill there. GREAT breakfast Onsen were very nice, but a bit tugged away in the back, no view.

Rooms have aged somewhat (plaster coming off) and are themselves not very luxurious. Balconies do have a nice little view over the garden

This place is really lovely. Being in amongst the trees creates a very relaxing environment. The room was a good size with comfy beds and a nice seating area. There was a decent coffee machine in the room as well as a speaker to play music. The big window with a view of the trees was amazing - especially when the deer visit at dusk. Nice and quiet place. Breakfast was delicious and very comprehensive (lots of choices if you want western style or japanese style). All the staff are very friendly and accommodating (especially Ayako). The onsen was nice and I particularly liked that it was open all night as I prefer to use it alone or with few people in. The shared chill out area and games room were something I wasn't expecting but a nice surprise. We made good use of this space and enjoyed the welcome drink - a nice touch. The hotel have electric bikes for hire for a very reasonable rate which we used to cycle to the Botanical Gardens. A few previous guests have commented about the rooms needing a paint but it actually looks like they have chosen a rustic style of decor and it didn't bother us at all. It works with the industrial style of polished concrete in the bathroom. We were also almost put off by previous guests suggesting that the location is too far from anything. In reality it's a 5 minute walk down the driveway to a bus stop and a 20 min ride to Gora where you can connect to most places very easily. We really loved our stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again if we are back in Japan.

The staff helped us in anything that we asked, there is a coffee room where you can sit infront of a small lake and drink coffe during the day. I am very recommanding to take the dinner, it is 6 dish and they change it on daily bases. The room was ok, the bed was good for a tall guy like me :)

The location of the hotel is a bit isolated, from one side it is good but for those who want to see hakone and using the public transportaion, i recommand to buy the Hakone Pass becuase you will use the bus a lot. And i think that the price is a bit high for what you get

Hakone Retreat Fore is a really special place. We loved being nestled in the forest, surrounded by the beautiful gardens and abundant nature. The staff came to collect us as we started walking up to the entrance from the bus stop. They were so welcoming and kind. We loved having a glass of welcome wine in the games room! The onsen is really lovely as well, and well equipped. We wished we had booked another night! I highly recommend making this one of your last stops on a Japanese holiday. It was the perfect way to relax after two weeks of sightseeing. Also the breakfast is amazing!

We were asked if we wanted to book for dinner - we decided not to, as it was a set menu only. We definitely would have stayed if there had been an a la carte option.

This hotel is truly spectacular. A little hidden gem off the beaten path past Gora. Tranquil surrounds with excellent facilities including complimentary wine on arrival and free barista coffee every morning in the coffee lounge with views of the forest and pond. Incredibly well staffed and everyone was so friendly and accommodating. We were assisted and attended too with spectacular service right from check in to check out. Onsen was simple but very nice, the outdoor bath was a beautiful place to relax after a big day. Overall a very positive experience for us. Great place for a couple to stay at. Couldn't recommend it more.

This hotel overall is quite expensive but not sure if that's all the time was due to us staying in Golden Week.

The hotel has a great location, fully immersed in the nature. The view from the room is stunning, it was snowing when I went, so the landscape was pretty suggestive, but I couldn't see the Mount Fuji. The staff is very kind and helpful; they have a car service from the bus stop which is very convienent. The hotel is made of few buildings scattered in the space, so it's nice to walk among real natural pockets to go from one place to another. The onsen is fantastic! All natural materials and suggestive surrounds. Great breakfast with large choice of food.

The hotel might need some renovation works here and there; the room looked a bit tired, although the equipment was perfectly functioning. Same for the common space and the onsen, requiring some maintenance work.

Staff were amazing and so helpful. Thank you so much to everyone here 🙏🏼 Loved all of the areas at this place, from our room to the breakfast dining area to the onsen to the spa rooms and clubhouse. Room was super spacious - essentially an apartment to ourselves and ours had a wonderful view.

Breakfast was super expensive and we weren’t warned of this when booking. It’s still worth it for ease, but prepare yourself for the bill. Also both restaurants were fully booked for the duration of our stay so we couldn’t eat at the hotel. Again not the worst but wish we could’ve!

We chose the Hakone Fore during our first trip to Japan and we won't soon forget it. From waking up to forest views and birds chirping, to enjoying delicious coffee and pastries looking out over a peaceful pond to one of the most thoughtful breakfast spreads I've ever encountered--every detail was magical. The atmosphere was lovely and instantly transports you to pure tranquility. The employees are devoted to impeccable service and will anticipate your every need. Hakone is very spread out due to the steep mountains, so if you don't make a dinner reservation the team will shuttle you to a nearby restaurant! I will be dreaming about their breakfast buffet for years to come. Three words: TRUFFLE SCRAMBLED EGGS! Truly a magical place. We will definitely stay again next time we are in Japan.

The rooms and onsen could use a slight update (mostly paint) but they were still aligned with the value.

Everything about the hotel was exceptional. it was so peaceful with wonderful green views from the extremely large room (it is bigger than most apartments in Tokyo). Every detail was carefully thought through. Extremely comfortable and relaxing environment. the complimentary drinks in the fridge and cafe also a lovely touch.

Nothing really. Breakfast buffet wasn’t really to my taste but plenty of options. I’m not a big fan of buffets with children touching food but hardly the hotels responsibility. The iron I used was a bit useless but I’m really picking for something now.
