The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the facilities are quite clean. All luggage wheels are wiped down by the staff, and guests keep shoes in lockers at the front entrance to keep all common areas clean. The staff went above and beyond to prepare a vegan set dinner meal for my sister and me, which is not part of their usual offerings. We messaged the hotel a few weeks before and were pleasantly surprised by the attention and thought that went into our meal. Our parents had the standard dinner which they also very much enjoyed.

The location is ok -- my family ended up taking a taxi from the Hakone train station. The other options are to take local buses (not all of which are covered on the Hakone free pass), or take the cable car and walk about 5 minutes which isn't a bad option but it doesn't show up on Google maps so we didn't know about this until the staff explained upon arrival. The public onsen is small but peaceful.

Location of this hotel was excellent, only a few minutes walk to the closet cable car station and only one stop away from the Open Air Museum. Note: use the directions listed on the hotel's own website and not Google Maps, as Google lists the wrong station and will have you walk longer. Our booking included included both breakfast and dinner (called half board) and was definitely worth it. Nice not to have to worry about finding a place to eat, and they provide traditional yukatas to wear inside the hotel (recommended to wear to dining as well). The breakfast buffet was amazing, with a combination of traditional Japanese breakfast (my favourite), as well as Western options. The kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese dinner) was also delicious. We did not book a room with a private onsen, but the public onsen was empty when I used it. However, if you are travelling as a couple and would like to use the public onsen together, note that this will not be possible as the onsen are separted by sex, so you would need to book a room with a private onsen if you want to use the onsen together. All the hotel staff were very friendly (translation apps will be necessary unless you can speak Japanese).

The onsen facilities are wonderful. The water is hot. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is great. The bed is very comfortable and the temperature was perfect the entire time.

Location isn’t that good if u don’t have a car. It is far from the train station if you’re traveling with luggage. But it is a very quiet location.

The room was clean and very specious. The onsen was not too busy although the hotel seemed full. The scenery around the hotel is very nice, although the construction site next to the hotel was a small drawback.

I think it would be great if the hotel were better at communicating that the best way of getting there is from Naka-Gora station. It would have been great if on top of breakfast, an option to bring some simple riceballs for lunch on the go were added.

Stayed in room with open air bath. Very large nice room. Bath was nice to sit in at end of day. Got a pick up and drop off to station. Needed the guy at info desk to call for us as we didn’t have international phone. Had dinner one night at property which was fancy multi course Japanese meal but expensive and only option was a dinner set. Staff nice and helpful.

It is in nice quiet hilly corner of the town. Don’t expect to be able to walk into town easily. However there is a bus stop at the bottom of the hill 5min walk. Buses run until 1800. Taxis can bring you home for 800yen if you want go into town for dinner.

The hotel is incredible, love the fact you cannot walk with your shoes and they provide you a yukata for your stay. The food in the restaurant was the best (5 stars restaurant) and the spa/onsen super relax. We booked the room with our own onsen which it was more expensive but definitely worth it! I would definitely recommend it!

They do have a shuttle from the hotel to Gora station but you need to book it in advance. It would be nice that this is better explain before arrival since it is quite a walk (10-15 min) from Gora station to the hotel, specially with suitcases. But this is a suggestion, not a complaint. This hotel was the best!

- very modern and chic (we stayed in the new wing) - private onsen on balcony with real natural spring water - nice Yukatas and Kimonos provided - calm, cool lobby area with beautiful views of trees and flowers - very friendly and attentive staff - nice breakfast buffet

- the design of the room was such that there was nowhere to put your luggage - the set dinner wasn’t great. Cool looking food like you’d get at a fancy restaurant but the quantity was small, the taste was good not great and we basically got the same meal two nights in a row (the breakfast buffet was good though) - public onsen was uninspiring (glad we had a room with a private onsen) - located on a hill and so required a long walk down to the town area of Gora. Also hard to get a taxi so you have to be sure to book the hotel shuttle when you are leaving (we almost missed our bullet train due to this issue as we incorrectly assumed it would be easy for the hotel to call us a taxi)

We stayed at a suite with an open air bath, and absolutely loved it! We traveled as a family of 4 and found it very convenient to have the onsen in-suite! The room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel was very family friendly, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Greeting us at the front entrance as soon as we arrived, took our luggages and check in was a breeze. There are complimentary drinks served daily and an indoor as well as an outdoor public onsen for the hotel guests. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet spread, great choices between western and traditional Japanese breakfast. All very delicious.

The get to the hotel, you will have to go up a very steep hill, luckily we rented a car so didn’t have to hike up with luggages and kids…etc. Although, Hakone in general is very hilly, and the hotel is really close to a train station, I just thought the hotel was a bit further up the hills and wasn’t as conveniently located. However, it felt secluded and we did enjoy that too!

The Premium Room with Tatami Area and Open-Air Bath was great for our family of four (2 adults and 2 kids). The kids slept on futons (roll out mattresses) on the tatami floor. It was very comfortable and we really enjoyed having our own private open-air bath. We also loved that we could go to dinner wearing our kimono and slippers. The food was delicious - although the dinner took a long time to serve. The location of the hotel is great along the Hakone ropeway and we would recommend using their shuttle bus service which you can pre-book.

The dinner service took around 2 hours from start to finish which is too long when we've spent all day exploring the area and want to go to bed. The waiter also kept putting more dishes on the table instead of clearing the ones we'd finished with. There was a little bit of a language barrier too which prevented us from getting our food faster. The kids waited a long time for their food.
