I had a splendid stay in Hakone Tent. Having my own room was a blessing and I loved the little touches with the lantern lighting & little window teasing a sneak peek of the mountains. The 2 private onsens were why I chose this place. They are tattoo friendly as someone who is heavily tattooed which I highly appreciate. I had the pleasure of trying the eggplant & cheese pizza with a side of Ume plum wine for dinner and it was so delicious. I would love to visit again sometime in the future if I visit Hakone.

That I didn't stay longer 🩷

The nicest staff ever! It was a HUGE open room for our family of four with a 12 and 14 year old. They loved the private spa and that we could hang out in the kitchen/shared space in the evening. The town is pretty sleepy and things close early. We enjoyed the cooler weather, enormo hydrangea, and taking the tram up the mountain to see Mt. Fuji and a lake in the area. This establishment has a coffee shop a minute away where I had a yummy oat milk latte and kids grabbed hot dogs. I know they say the walls are thin here, but people respected noise levels and didn't have any issues. Largest accommodation during our stay in Japan.

Nothing. :)

The guesthouse is perfectly located within 2 mins walking distance of the local train and cable car. The surrounding setting is pretty and inside it's cosy and the room is simple but stylish with futon bed. Despite the thin mattress we all slept really well, it was really comfy. The bar area is small and cute and the staff is very friendly. They serve dinner (but no breakfast), the food (pizza) was delicious, home-made and served one at a time as it got cooked individually. We had some great local beers as well. The onsen is a great experience is you prefer to have your privacy, very easy to book and to get a slot (even when we checked in late evening). Toilets and bathroom are shared and very clean. The other guests were respectful of quiet time and we didn't hear any noises until morning.

Nothing but the road to reach the guesthouse is quite steep so maybe not suitable for everyone. Note that they don't serve breakfast which wasn't a problem for us and we got a discount voucher for the café down the road which served delicious food.

We loved the accommodation, family of 4 sharing a room. Felt very authentic. Staff were lovely. Nice bar area, limited menu but tasty, good choice for drinks. They offered a natural onset which we used and enjoyed. Location was good, just a few minutes walk from the station. Shared kitchen and bathroom facilities, but clean and private. Recommended after a stay in Tokyo. Get the Hakone Freepass and this is an ideal start for the railway, ropeway and pirate ship cruise.

All good

Friendly staff who helped us to leave our luggage earlier and also booked the Onsen for the available slot. Great location near Gora station - leaving the luggage gave us flexibility to travel with our backpack only for the rest of the day. The pantry was small, clean and well maintained where you can warm your food and enjoy the meal with your family. Nice collection of drinks and space to mingle with other tourist. The private Onsen gives you flexibility to manage your slot and if you can't book it then you can also use the other Onsen on first come first serve basis.

Nothing in particular.

Incredible view from the room. Traditional, tight house. 貸切/reserve + open hotspring in the basement. Bathing is a must. Shower cabins, baths, many toilets. Clean, relatively well kept rooms. Even though the triple room was small, there was still a nice spacious feel due to it being on tatami with futon that are folded at daytime. + There is a big closet/cabinet behind a sliding door to store luggage. AC for the cold/heat.

Not necessarily fixable but the windows are old and not watertight. Letting in a bit of water, especially on cold days where it condensates making the window sill not really usable to use as a night stand. You can still sit on it and enjoy the view though.

Omg, this is the best place I've ever stayed. The staff were so incredibly helpful and kind, and the location was perfect. When we arrived it was snowing hard, with lots of snow on the ground. Hakone Tent is up a small hill, but it is only 6 minutes from the station which we were very thankful for as we were dragging our suitcases up the icy hill. It is very convenient to get around Hakone from Hakone tent. We stayed in the apartment and the views of the hills were stunning. The room was also just beautiful. Everything was clean, warm, and homey. The onsen booking system is simple and convenient. Would go back in a heartbeat!!!

The only thing we didn't like was the fact the futons are very thin. In another place we stayed the futon consisted of two mattresses, one thick and one thinner. Hakone tent only had the thin mattress and I found it a little hard to sleep. But to be honest everything else made up for it and it was fine.

Great location. 3 minutes walk from Gora station. Don’t follow Google maps, take the underpass at the station and then turn left. Tatami mats and Japanese style bedding was very comfortable. Pizzas and salad served there was delicious and good value for money. Free tea and coffee available. Well-equipped pantry with fridge, microwave, kettle and induction hob. Staff extremely friendly and spoke good English. Onsen water had a very strong sulphur smell- must good for you!

Was left a bit confused about the booking system for using the on-site onsen. The onsen water wasn’t hot enough for me. Some people might object to the shared toilet facilities but not a major issue for one night and they were very clean. Stairs are a bit steep but it is a traditional Japanese property.

The Apartment was great during our stay. The apartment was very spacious for a four person group and could definitely fit more people comfortably. The beds were very comfortable and had plenty of warmth during the cold nights. I would highly recommend this place for any friends travelling in groups! Especially if you like to socialise and meet new people - you must check out the bar area. The bar area is a common area for all guests and has great food, plenty of entertainment (board games, card games etc) and lots of room to sit. Food and drinks were delicious and very well priced - highly recommend the Oolong Tea cocktail. Staff were incredible. They were very friendly, hospitable and helpful with anything we needed during our stay. Taro was very polite and welcoming and provided recommendations of places to visit during our stay. Would love to come back again in the future :)

We enjoyed everything about our stay here. When we arrived the staff were super helpful explaining the layout of the guest house and the onsens. The room was spacious and the shared bathrooms were always clean. The staff were friendly and accommodating when we had any questions. We enjoyed eating dinner at the bar in the common area each night (the pizza was so good!). There is also a cafe just the road wIth great breakfast and coffee. It was nice that everything you needed was right at the guesthouse, especially after a long day of sightseeing in Hakone. The best part had to be the onsen though. We were so happy to finally find an onsen that allowed tattoos! It was super relaxing after a long day.

If anything I would have to say the futons weren’t the most comfortable, but definitely not awful. The biggest regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! Loved it.
