Excellent value for money. Staff was very nice, room was great, the only downside is the shared bathroom. Onsen was nice to have, breakfast was quite good, location is great for the Hida Folk Village but slightly suboptimal for Takayama proper - but better than most in the area, anyway.

Outside onsen was sort of small, and somewhat less warm than would be ideal.

Very close to Hida no sato and a few minutes from Takayama station. The rooms are spotless and the attention to the customer is impeccable. The Onsen (one male and one female) of an excellent standard. We had the opportunity to have dinner and breakfast at the property. Great food and impeccable presentation. We also used the shuttle service (kindly provided even outside the established time). Truly impeccable services.

A very nice ryokan with a decent onsen. Recommend trying their breakfast menu (for an additional fee) as it was very tasty and offered a nice intro to traditional Japanese eating. The ryokan is a bit further away from the city (around 2 km), but very close to the Hida Folk Village where you can get a bus to the city center during the Village's opening hours.

Great ryokan with clean rooms and beautiful onsen. The staff were very kind and the food was exquisite, whether breakfast or dinner. Slightly far by foot from the station but there is a local bus that stops accross the street. Very good value for money, highly recommended.

I loved the authentic feel of this place. It wasn’t downtown, therefore it wasn’t walking distance to everything. But for one night stay in town, it was perfect. We arrived into town at 5pm and took a taxi for 1000y to the property. They were waiting for us and dinner was ready. We enjoyed the onsen and went to bed. We woke up in the morning and started our day at the folk Hida Village, which is a 3mins walk. Then we took the bus into town and spent the entire day in town and then left on an evening train. After spending several nights in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto in busy places. The calm, serene feeling was a nice change of scenery.

The room we got was spacious and clean, also the view was great. There was toilet and shower in the room even if there’s shared onsen which was very clean and cozy. The view from the outdoor bath was very cute. The welcome snack was delicious, so the breakfast. That’s one of the most delicious miso I’ve ever had!

It’s about 30 minute walk from Takayama station and there was snow, so it’s quite scary to walk. But the place was so nice, so worth the walk.

a bit far from takayama station (30min by walk) futon were a little thin

There were spare mats which was good for us as one sleeping mat wasn't enough. We wanted to try sleeping the Japanese way so was grateful for extra mats. Everything Japanese was great. A nice place to try doing our first Japanese way. Breakfast was good and staff friendly. Needed to stay another night, it was no issue.

The room has fume smell because the entire facility is heated by gas

Amazing people working there. Everyone was very kind and they even drove us to the station the last day. The onsen was an amazing experience. We also tried the breakfast there and i highly recommended it.
