I thought that the beds themselves were comfortable enough, but when we got there, the AC was off so the rooms were very hot as there isn't alot of airflow in the room. Once the AC and the fan were running, it was comfortable. I would suggest getting to the room, dropping off your things, turning on the AC and heading out for a while. The area around the hotel is GORGEOUS, and its just a short walk to the Hida Folk Village. There is multiple shops and restaurants with amazing finds and rich culture. In addition, there are many places you can find around here that offer crafts that you can make with their assistance. I made a glass wind chime and a very cute little paper lantern that came with an LED to put inside it.

The rooms were kindof small for the four of us, and not well ventilated. In addition, the dryer takes like two hours to dry your clothes if you want to wash a load. The parking situation isn't ideal, but there is construction going on nearby which may be the reason why. (I did not hear any of the work, just saw it, which was nice.)

Great place to stay a few nights in Takayama (I wouldn't recommend staying more than 3, as the city is quite small). The Guest House is a bit far from everything except for Hida no Sato, but there is a free shuttle bus every morning that takes you to the station at 07:30, 08:00 and 09:00 (as of Summer 2023). Walking there takes around 15 minutes. There is a locker that fits up to a carry-on luggage and the doors to the rooms also have a locker. The kitchen is also fully equipped. The owners are very nice.

There are no gender-specific showers and it is a bit far from the centre (but again, there is the suttle bus available).

The staff were very friendly and helpful (even offering a shuttle bus to the station three times every morning). The building is large enough to accommodate guests with plenty of room for sleeping areas, showers, toilets, and even common areas to relax or socialize (outside too). The kitchen is huge and well equipped for pretty much any meal.

Nothing in particular. I think the only thing I thought was weird was allowing guests to wear their shoes inside. I understand it’s easier on the guests, however slippers in the toilets and shower room will be more sanitary and give other guests peace of mind.

It's a cute homey place. The owner was friendly and accommodating. The room was warm and the bed was very comfortable and had lots of storage space. The view from the room was spectacular. The shared kitchen had all the essentials and I really enjoyed my stay. The guesthouse provides a shuttle service for no additional cost in the morning hours. The Hida Folk village is at a walking distance. The bus stop and convenience stores are 4 mins away.

Wonderful view from the room, and the shared kitchen is spacious and you have everything you need. The house has many wooden elements, which gives a cosy feeling, and the little terrace in front of the house is great for smoking breaks.

It's not very well deserved by buses, but closer to nature than the city center, with nice little woods around, so in the end it was not a problem.

Wonderful place, beautiful Japanese house, so comfortable. Large fully equipped kitchen/lounge with free coffee/tea, wood burner, great beds, spacious dorm with heater and even table and chairs, lockers, additional seating areas around the building, lovely garden, immaculate throughout. Plenty of bathrooms, amazing shower with free toiletries. Welcoming and very helpful owner, free shuttle to the city centre although it's just a 20 minutes walk. I loved the location, immersed in greenery, next to a temple, not a sound, views, peaceful and still close to everything. One of the best places I've stayed so far in my 4 weeks in Japan

Excellent value for money. Good location, walking distance to the folk village museum, bicycle hire for 800 yen a day, free shuttle bus to the train station, staff are polite, the property is clean, full kitchen facilities, and we were able to leave our luggage at the guest house for free for 3 days whilst hiking in the Japanese Alps. Would definitely recommend this accommodation for people hiking from Kamikochi or just backpackers.

The beds are quite hard which I like, but may not be to everyone's liking.

The outdoor onsen was fabulous. It was private in the cedarwood tub and perfect temp. Choice of A/C or heater in room. Fridge and two sliding windows with curtains Whole place very clean. Self checking so can't really mention staff - but all explained well in emails. Three mins walk from bus stop.

Sadly we struggled to sit on floorwith just one hard flat cushion. Also the floor Mattress was very thin and was uncomfortable to sleep on. Def not for persons with poor mobility or not much padding!

The tenant which I think was the owner was really nice. He even told about some fireworks going one of the night of our stay. We liked the shuttle for the Jr station, the rental bicycles, the 2 big fridge in the shared space, the air conditioner in our room, the dining table in our room, the surroundings including the nice flowers, the bakery close by!

Would have been nice to have air conditioning in the bathrooms and shower room. But it would not prevent us from being back!

It is really a good place for the solo traveler. All the facilities are very good. you can prepare your own meal here. Drink like coffee and tea is free here but you have to prepare it yourself. especially the kitchen is equipped with everything. the bathrooms and toilet are clean. And most importantly anyone can move anywhere from the place where the guesthouse is located. the price range is good. And the staffs are well-behaved. The manager is a very warm and kind-hearted person. he can speak English. I am highly recommending this place for staying.
