Mercure London Paddington Hotel

The location is excellent… it’s literally a minute from Paddington tube and rail and super bus connections at the doorstep. The staff are very warm and welcoming and they were kind enough to give me a very generous late check out. My bathroom was leaking into the reception so they changed my room to a higher category. Rooms are very decently sized for London and have comfortable beds. Good rakeshhjeswaani@hotmail.com kettle and tea things in the room. Bathroom was good sized and worked well. All in all was a great value stay in absolute central London.

Breakfast could have been much better. They give you coupons to have a set breakfast in the connected cafe but the breakfast spread could definitely be better. The lighting in the room could be improved. The standard rooms don’t come with bathrobes, slippers or toiletries like dental kits etc which for a four star hotel should be given in all room categories. No doorman to help with bags ( quite a few steps from street level) difficult with heavy luggage. Again, for a hotel of this standard I felt this should have been there.

Hotel is is an exceptional location next to Paddington Station. Given this, it was very reasonably priced. I did not have high expectations going in, but after going from the small lobby and lift to my room, I was astonished at how large and comfortable it was. There were lots of nice touches too like free chocolates and refreshments provided. Being used to tiny rooms at terrible prices, this was five star value. Breakfast was provided in an adjoining restaurant and provided a large choice. Overall, this is going to be a regular choice for me as a place to stay going forward. I would like to say an extra word too on the friendly and efficient staff. Overall - highly recommended.

Nothing in particular to criticize as it was outstanding value for the money and location. The room and facility was obviously older but it was all still comfortable.

I give 5 stars for the super service and especially to the hotel manager Sabrina! We booked for 4 nights. We arrived ti the room and we had a problem in the bathroom. With no hesitation, we were offered to move to a nearby hotel by the same management, Hotel Indigo. We were upgraded to a better, and much bigger room. Sabrina helped us to move all our stuff to the indigo hotel, and compensate us with the breakfast at the near door restaurant. This is called a great and understanding service. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends, and will be back soon. Thank you so much!

The breakfast was good, but very limited in choices compared to other hotels in the same class. The Continental breakfast had the basics (muffins, croissants, cereals, a few yogurts selections, ham & cheese slices, tomatoes & cucumbers). The pancakes from the menu felt microwaved rather than freshly made (hard and chewy in places). But a great view of the street if you like to watch the goings-on. The room was clean, tidy, and super-quiet: you barely get any noise from the station or street! There is construction outside the hotel, so that might be an issue for some who sleep in the daytime. The bathroom is very small. Don't expect to unpack much. The pull-out sofa was comfortable. King bed - lovely!

The staff were really helpful. It was great to get off the train after travelling back from Australia and just be able to roll out of the train station into the hotel. I was a bit nervous as the hotel didn't have that high of a rating on booking.com, but I shouldn't have worried, It was comfortable, and clean and the staff were friendly. I was also worried as there were free ear plugs by the bed, but I slept soundly and didn't hear a thing, they were not needed. I feel the low ratings are undeserved in my experience and I would be more than happy to stay there again

The hotel is adjoined by Garfunkles which used to be a good chain, however, when I ordered smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast I got four bits of dry toast, a piece of smoked salmon that was so small it was less than one mouthful and about 2 mouthfuls of scrambled eggs. I almost took a photo is was so pathetic. I didn't complain, but it wasn't cheap and it was awful.

Room was very spacious and comfortable, bed exceptionally comfortable and amazing shower and bathroom! Staff were very professional, friendly and helpful. Excellent location for Paddington train and tube stations.

Breakfast wasn't included in our deal but we went to the same restaurant as the hotel uses in Frankie and Benny's next door. We weren't impressed at all with the breakfast there . Not good value for money, average food and poor service. The hotel recommended the restaurant as it's directly next door. Wouldn't go there again for breakfast or any meal.

Our room were upgraded to the biggest room on the floor, room 419. There's coffee maker in the room with complimentary soft drinks in the fridge. Big room and bathroom. comfortable bed.

It was very warm in the room as we can't change the AC mode from heater to AC (t was end of Dec). So we turned-off the AC and opened the window (we can only open the window slightly) but it was not enough as the window overlooking into a small airwell.

Frankie and Benny's next door served a great menu as well (didn't take the hotel breakfast).

Hotel is not fully step-free access (there are a couple of steps from street level, and 2 steps down to the elevator) but this was not a big issue for us. If you have intention to leave a luggage here, check with hotel during booking phase, especially if you're leaving it for an extended period.

very good location very close to Paddington station with loads of places to eat and shop within walking distance. good size room, plenty of amenities in the bathroom, big tv, nice minibar with complimentary water and soft drinks, large bed, soft robes and slippers. Staff were amazing, especially Kieran who couldnt do enough and gave us free wine cus our room wasnt ready when we arrived. We used the Frankie & Bennies restaurant attached to the hotel but got more for our money by using their menu rather than paying £14pp for breakfast.

Had a bath when id asked for a shower, the toilet was very low down, view was of the building site behind the hotel, got woken up early by the rumble of the trains underground, the Nespresso machine leaked hot water when we first used it.
