Great location just a couple of mins walk from Union Square with its great subway lines hub and a great buzz. Great neighbourhood with lots of food choices. The hotel is stylish and the rooms, whilst compact, are finished to a great standard and make the most of the space. If you don’t want to be right in the hustle and bustle of the Times Square area but prefer to base yourself in a neighbourhood with great transport links, then this East Village hotel is ideal. Situated midway between uptown and downtown you have easy access to all the delights of Manhattan.

The hotel was great apart from the bar staff who didn’t show the same friendliness as the team on reception. It’s pitched that the rooftop bar is a part of the hotel but it’s run as a separate business so access not really easy as there were queues of non hotel residents to go up there every evening.

Not a “regular hotel”, young spirit, cool decoration

it’s a “party like” hotel. many young people in party mod, noisy. if you are not here to party, ask for high floor.

The only issue with the Moxy is the rooms are incredibly small. However, I hope most tourists visiting NYC are aware this will be the case in most hotels they stay at. The Moxy did do a great job of maximizing the little space that was available with organization tools such as hooks for hanging clothes, cubbies, foldaway furniture etc.

Service - the staff is super friendly and accommodating, room is so well appointed especially for the size and great hip decor with cool little thoughtful touches (tray for the bed, revolving side table). Room was super quiet and the bed was really comfortable. LOVED that the resort fee actually applied to food and beverage at the hotel restaurants and bar.

The coffee counter with pastries was great and the service was amazing, but would like to see some protein, veggie and fruit choices. There should be a bar or drinks available later at night - an 11pm close is early for NYC. Maybe there can at least be a refrigerator with drinks and snacks for sale by the front desk especially since the rooms don't have mini bars or refrigerators. Would be great if the resort fee rolled over to all days.

This hotel was very quirky and lively. We were given a $30 daily allowance to spend in the hotel, which got us a pastry each for breakfast to go with our complimentary coffee and a beer in the bar at night. It was a great little extra that made a big difference. Also received a cheeky gift for my birthday, which was lovely of them. The location was within walking distance of a lot of the attractions.

The bar prices were expensive. The bed was up against the window wall, meaning one of us had to climb across the other to get up in the night.

My husband and I really enjoyed the few days we spent at the Moxy East Village - the front desk were always helpful and knowledgeable, particularly Carmen, Maria and a young light-haired gentleman with a nicely groomed beard whose name I'm forgetting who worked afternoons! The rooms, while definitely on the small side, were well equipped and efficiently laid out, and QUIET! The beds were VERY comfy and we got great sleep. The energetic yet low-key vibe was awesome and we spent time in the really cool lounge playing free skee-ball, having the delicious pastries and coffee on one of the plentiful couch seating areas as well as in their cozy outdoor garden area. Loved the availability of books from a Strand book cart and the fact that you could also take one of the many cassette tape or record players and requisite tapes/vinyls up to your room for your listening pleasure. The Cathedrale restaurant had a great dinner, and we did try to get on the Ready rooftop- being a hotel guest gives you priority, but it was very popular and crowded due to the amazing spring weather. We also took advantage of the hotel's workout room, which was rather well-equipped, but also made use of the Moxy's free day passes to Crunch, just around the corner. The best thing for us though was the use of Moxy's bikes - while there were a couple hiccups around the seat adjustments and tires, it was a boon to have these bikes at our disposal to explore the city on the dedicated bike lanes. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend to anyone wanting a fun home away from home!

More storage and hangers in the room would be nice - I lived out of my suitcase for the 4 nights we were there - there were only 3 hangers and not a ton of counter space at the sink. The bathroom was also pretty tight - while the rain showerhead was nice when I wanted to wash my hair, it was tricky to avoid when I didn't and you have to be pretty close and comfy with the person you're sharing the room in order to use the bathroom while in the room, as it's not really quiet! Luckily we weren't there to spend loads of time in our room, so the main issue was the small amount of storage and hangers.

Moxy East Village was fantastic in every regard. My partner and I work in hospitality, so we always judge the properties we are staying at rather harshly, but our stay was outstanding in every way. Upon arrival, we were greeted by knowledgeable staff, offering great recommendations of places to see and eat in the area. The room was excellent and clean, with splendid noise isolation and a comfy bed. The location is close to everything you could wish for but in a quiet street, so it's peaceful by Manhattan standards. The restaurant and bar in the hotel are both fantastic, with a great selection of food and drinks, with superb staff making the experience perfect. This place is an excellent value for money and was everything we expected and more. We would highly recommend it to anyone visiting NYC!

Absolutely nothing. It was a great stay, with outstanding staff in a fabulous location. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Go for it; you won't regret it.

Moxy was in a prime location in the East Village- right across the street from Webster Hall. The room was quiet and the noise from the street was minimal. The staff were friendly and they play really great music in the lobby - they should turn it up instead of keeping it ambient!

There really wasn't much I disliked about it. The most unpleasant thing that happened was the day that the linen pick-up was being loaded onto the trucks. The towels and sheets went through the lobby and smelled like sewage.

I loved the very compact way of handling the rooms and getting everything I needed into one small space. - well done!!! I loved FREE parking on street too!

I did not love a $30 resort fee when the bar was closing upon my arrival at 10pm and I had jsut gotten to the city and was checking out at 8am. so I had to find a way to use the credit quickly. I know that when there is a RESORT - Pool, complemtary snacks, breakfast included, towels for pool and beach chairs, etc that it makes sense to have a resort fee but this type of SMALL CITY HOTEL is by far NOT a resort and I really think that should be removed from my bill. It is absurd and that would the be the ONLY reason I will NOT look to stay at this hotel in the future.

The hotel is stylish and very well thought out. While the rooms are not big, every last inch is meticulously utilized in a functional way. We liked that the resort fee could be applied daily towards food/drinks. And the complimentary coffee is always so appreciated!! Comfortable beds, great windows, helpful staff.

Housekeeping was a little sporadic, usually coming quite late in the day.
