Hotel Sonno Plaza Allende

Great breakfast and location. Receptionists were friendly and helpful. Bathroom was lovely and very clean. Room also nice and bed comfortable. They let us check in early which was really appreciated.

The main thing we didn't like was that there was no window at all in the room so no ventilation or natural light. That was probably the biggest draw back for us. The door was glass but had been covered in some sticky back plastic so that couldn't be used as a window for light which seemed a shame. There was a fan but it was super noisy and made a strange sound that seemed a bit broken sounding so we weren't able to use that either. There were also loud construction noises on one of the nights that carried on until nearly midnight including power tools being used at that time.

Great location, friendly staff, beautiful rooms and architecture in general. Everything is close at hand.

Please have a small refrigerator in the room for drinks. Be aware that on Friday and Sat from 9 pm to 1 or 2 am, there are bands playing in the two bars which are on the hotel premises. Great time to enjoy live Mexican music. However if you want quiet, please schedule your stay in the room around those times.

Loved how central the hotel was to everything, most major destinations were within a 10 minute walk. Plaza Garibaldi, El Zocalo, Palacio de Bellas Artes, etc., was so close and easy to get to. Also very close to amazing street food. Head to the corner of Cuba y Brasil, and there will be loads of inexpensive/delicious food waiting for you at all hours. Much cheaper than the tourist restaurants all around, and much more authentic of the Mexican experience.

My girlfriend and I didn't mind having the bar upstairs and even enjoyed it during our stay, but the sound coming through til at least midnight can be troublesome for some folks. If the hotel ends up installling doors that are more soundproof, that would make the experience perfect, but for now anyone who is a light sleeper should consider bringing earplugs to help drown out some of the sound at night.

Great location. The room and bathroom refurbished and of good standard. Access to restaurants, a pub and breakfast café in the building. Good tv and efficient and silent AC. Good value overall.

It is noisy in the afternoon and evening since it's close to the bars and restaurants. Bed was very hard, not comfortable. No water provided. Reception service simple and limited.

I had a room on the second floor. On the third floor of this building was a club or bar and they played loud music into the night. Not good!
