Sonder Casa Tonalá

For my first stay on July 11-13, 2023, I was in Room #13. It's a small room but I loved it. There was an issue of cleanliness, I found some blond hairs in the bathroom. Sliding door did not close while showering. Sonder was informed via chat. For my return stay, on July 20-26, 2023, I've stayed in Room #3. It was very spacious, but the room was on the first floor where the main lobby was. I suggest, the bathroom's ceiling right above the shower areas need to be repainted, there were molds. On July 23, 2023, I've requested a few items at 12:11pm and did not received them until 2:33pm. That was a very long wait. As a concierge for a Westin Hotels, that was unacceptable but I've waited since I do not want any of the housekeeper entering my room. I did not request housekeeping services for I like to keep my room clean. Other that the issue, I do like the location and the spacious room with high ceiling.

That the room was on the ground lobby area with no view. Long wait for items requested, molds in the bathroom above the shower.

A lovely character property in a good location in beautiful Roma Norte. High quality design hidden behind a discreet entrance. It's 'low touch' self-service experience with everything provided via the app and online, with staff on hand just in case you need some help. Very relaxing - the perfect haven in Roma Norte.

I suspect I was in one of the worst rooms - a white windowless box down a side passage. (There was a window in the adjoining bat.hroom.) It was small and had no desk, unlike some other rooms. I have no idea whether this was reflected in the price I paid as I bought online and didn't see the room before I committed to four days in it. But I'd prefer not to be in room 13 next time.

The location was excellent (I love Roma Norte) with great restaurants and bars within walking distance on a tree-lines street. The bed was comfortable, the room modern and it was nice to have a fridge in the room

The room (#4) was next to the security lobby and it was necessary to sleep with earplugs or got woken up early when other guests left or security people were talking in the morning to others. There was also a walkway over the room. So it wasn't a very peaceful room. Ask for a room that is not directly next to the lobby.

The room is big and bright with a comfortable bed. Location is in a safe neighborhood and close to many food places.

There was no staff, which made it more difficult to get questions answered. The windows and doors are not soundproof at all, so you can hear a lot of noise. However for us it wasn't an issue... It is still a big city, so there will always be noise.

Why on earth force people to download an app kn order to use a hotel room?

An absolutely gorgeous hotel in a great part of Roma and in close proximity to so much. I booked a king room (it was at the top of the steps on the second floor) and I couldn’t believe how large and beautiful it was. The bed was super comfortable, the towels were high quality, there was a table, chairs, closet, fridge, coffee machine, complimentary water and more. I felt so at home here. The noise does travel in this hotel (from both inside and outside) so I used ear plugs they provided and slept very well. Was super pleased with the water pressure and toiletries provided. Because of the reviews I had read about noise issues, I only booked this hotel for part of my trip and so wish I had stayed here the whole time. I needed ear plugs in my other hotel and it was far smaller, less pretty and without the amenities of Casa Tonala. I would definitely stay here again.

The noise does travel in this hotel (from both inside and outside) so you’ll likely need ear plugs (they provide them). I was cold one night but they did provide a blanket the next morning.

Check in and check out could, literally, not possibly been any easier. Both the room and the hotel iteself were absolutely lovely and suited our purposes perfectly. Clean, comfortable, and very nice. A perfect, central place in a great part of the city to come back to after a long day exploring.

Mattress is a little firm, but I suppose many people prefer that. The Peruvian piano bar was quite loud on Saturday night... but the complimentary earplugs were appreciated. And that was the only noise problem, that one night.

I was on thr street side on my first which is noisy and lit up all night but was then moved to another room which was great

I think that the booking agencies should explain the process of booking in and access to the room. If you have travelling for a couple days you don't have codes or fully know what is going on. This information should be in the property description on Booking.com etc

really good location in Roma, there’s a big supermarket a few minutes down the road. plenty of really nice food places around to choose from! the property is really nicely decorated and has all the facilities you could want. the check in was really easy and staff were always smiley.

we were there for a week, it maybe would’ve been nice to have had a bedsheet/towel change during our stay.

Centralized location with great coffee shops, taco street vendors, and great and world-renowned restaurants.

Finding hair in the bathroom shower and shower door not closing while taking a shower.
