Great location, slightly off the main road yet walkable to the ferry terminal and shops. Big bag towels!

The door to the bathroom was very heavy and slammed shut, making a load noise. You can hear other room doors slam shut as well. The bathroom had poor ventilation, so the floors were all wet and slick after a shower. And we were in an accessible room it had a lot of accommodations in the bathroom, but the standard furniture (e.g., unit to hang clothes) was too high to be reach hangers that aren't removable) just something to note. Breakfast was OK. Most items like eggs and pancakes were cooked/heated in a microwave, which just gives a different texture. The staff work very hard to make your stay comfortable.

The hotel was easily walkable to everything we needed. Very comfortable. Really safe & secure in Oban. They froze our ice packs and gave us some ice to keep our food items cold. It didn’t have an elevator (which is typical for the older buildings) but the woman at the front desk offered to carry our suitcases 🧳 upstairs. We carried our luggage upstairs, really no problem. But after a long day of hiking, just walking up the stairs can be… slow 😆 I would definitely recommend the hotel to others. We didn’t eat breakfast there but it looked good and very mellow in the dining area

Hotel was fairly near the front, the room and bathroom were spotless and the breakfast was adequate. Only downside was that our bedroom was on 3rd floor with 50 stairs to climb and as my husband is in his 80s and I am not far behind him we found the stairs rather trying. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Will go back but a ground floor room or 1st floor please . Thank you

Just the climb to the bedroom. !!!! The breakfast was ok but we like our full Scottish when we are there n holiday, but appreciate that wasn’t possible with the size of the kitchen etc !!!!

The property is within walking distance to the center of town. It is very clean, the staff was very helpful and polite.

I booked two rooms, one for a group of 3 and another for a group of 4 (two adults, two children). The room for the group of 3 was big enough (regular bed with a rollaway bed) and a large bathroom. The room for the group of 4 was tiny. This room had the regular bed, a rollaway bed and a sofa bed. with the sofa bed open, we could not open the bathroom door the entire way. The sofa bed was also super squeaky. Luggages had to be placed under the beds.

The location was perfect as it was close to the train station, the ferry, the high street, plenty of restaurants around and a big Tesco nearby. The bed was very comfortable, the room very warm, clean and cozy.

One night, I`m pretty sure I locked my door but after 1 o`clock i heard my door opening. It was very windy and my window opened in the same time. Maybe it was just the wind. Luckily, i sleep like a rabbit so i jumped out of bed and locked it again. I couldn`t shut my window after that so i had to sleep with my window open :( It was a bit unpleasant but I would still stay here :)

The room was incredible! We stayed in the family room and it exceeded all our expectations. There's a toilet and sink in one room and the other bathroom had a sink with a shower on each side of it. So nice for a family of four staying in it. The beds are very comfortable! 2 king sized beds. The room itself is large too, so we didn't feel like we were on top of each other. The closet had 4 robes and a mini fridge and little snacks. Breakfast was included with our stay and it was amazing.

Some of the windows didn't open but that wasn't a big deal whatsoever

A friend and I booked a room for 3 nights at The Ranald for a walking break. Unfortunately we had a late change to our plans and needed to cancel the room with only 24 hours notice. The Ranald's booking terms meant we were refunded for the 2nd and 3rd nights (if we'd been able to give 3 day's notice we'd have had the 1st night refunded as well) which really reduced the financial hit. We greatly appreciated the flexibility and will definitely look to book again at The Ranald when we're able to re-schedule our trip.

Very clean, close to the main area

We were on the ground floor which made it easier for my wife. The water leak issue was corrected but upon our return the room had not been cleaned with a mop/bucket and wet towels on the floor. Archie addressed the problem as best he could right away and compensated us for this issue. The not being able to get a hold of anyone should be a big concern to the hotel as it failed!!!!

The room was clean and comfortable. Not luxurious but above average. Quieter than expected for being in the middle of town, which was a pleasant surprise. The location is great - right in the centre of Oban but not on the busy waterfront. There was easy walking access to everywhere we wanted to go. The staff were efficient and friendly enough.

The shower head slider was broken so did not move up and down, which meant that my husband had to crouch to get a shower. I am short but found that the shower spray was right in my face. It was a good quality shower (which is important to us) but it was disappointing that a room with a broken shower was even available to guests. Breakfast food was nice but the avocado on toast was slightly disappointing in terms of quantity.

The room was comfortable.

I thought "First floor" meant ground level. I had heavy bags that the reception had to lug up the stairs and he didn't seem pleased with that needed service. I felt bad but I had tried to escape using the stairs myself in my booking. Also, the receptionist at night called the taxi for 10 minutes early so the taxi driver wasn't happy to have to wait. I was rushed to get down to the taxi by the morning receptionist and left some things in the room as a result.
