The Standard, High Line New York

The design of the hotel is very cool, and even the Deluxe Queen rooms are a decent size for NYC. The views are incredible, staff were friendly and even went the extra mile to make a special trip even more special by decorating our room for a celebration.

Many people have mentioned this but to confirm - the noise from the club (Le Bain) at the top of the building is super loud. We stayed on the 12th floor which is about 4 floors from the top but the bass is loud until 4am when it closes. Bring some heavy duty earplugs if you’re a remotely light sleeper.

The location is spectacular near the Hudson River. the Hotel is very nice and the staff is helpful and kind. Gym small but well equipped.

Bathroom is not exactly at the same level of the hotel: I would have done a different setting. Room service can be improved.

Amazing location, cannot really get much better in Manhattan, the hotel straddles the High Line, a block from Chelsea Markets, adjacent to the Little Island and New Whitney Museum. My room had a wonderful view looking south in Manhattan with some of the river. The staff at the front desk were very warm and accommodating. The room was very comfortable, enjoyed the abnormal configuration of having the bath in the middle of the room - it was nice to take a shower while looking out your hotel window at Manhattan. I would stay there again if my budget permitted.

Water pressure of the shower was poor. The $10 for a really crappy cappuccino in the lounge left a bad taste in my mouth....

The location in Chelsea was convenient and the subway was nearby. It was convenient to the subway. We loved the views and the general aesthetic of the hotel. The bed and pillows were also very comfortable. Everyone we interacted with was extremely helpful. I also greatly appreciated the soundproofing efforts. I barely heard anything from outside or from other rooms.

As a taller guy (6'3), the shower head was at eye level, so kind of uncomfortable. Though I liked the aesthetic of the hotel, sometimes it was too dark to see the elevator buttons. The curtains didn't block as much light as I'd like, but I like it super dark, so don't let this put you off. The High Line runs through the hotel, but you have to go outside and down the block to get onto the High Line.

TLDR; arrived at our original hotel, and made a last minute decision to switch to The Standard. Best decision ever. The check-in experience late at night last minute was so wonderful. Helpful, kind, and honestly every time we passed by the front desk for anything, it was fantastic. They remembered us, our names, that it was our anniversary… provided free bottles of water and kept the coffee fresh for our early morning walks. The black robes in the room were so comfy and a cool touch. The floor to ceiling windows had a great view and so much natural light. Perfect size room, too. For those wondering there is a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion and one of those rain shower heads. A full tub if you want to soak, too. They do have an abundance of room service options, though we opted to walk to some cute local spots. Love the location, with easy access to the High Line and a very doable walk to the 14th/8av subway stop. Do yourself a favor and stay here. (P.S. The most unique elevator entertainment I’ve ever seen. You need your key card to push the button to your floor so have it handy!)

I wish the free lobby coffee was available longer than 5-7am but I’m so thankful they had it!

Had no idea that the property was in the middle of so much. Great views. The room size was good. The "Standard Telephone Company" feature allows guests to pick up the phone and get connected to the US Capitol switchboard to "ring our rep" - great idea. Staff was helpful. Place was very cool.

Somewhat noisier than we hoped, given the selection of a floor halfway between ground and roof club. Would like to have tried the club, but though it's the same building, it's completely separate, so not really an "amenity". If we'd thought it through (and if it's possible) would have forgone a bathtub for a bit more room in bathroom. Ice machine on our floor broken. I know it's bad form to complain about the room rate v. taxes/fees, but the $30 for WiFi and water - really? The Waltz from Prokofiev's Cinderella in the elevator did get to be a bit much - points for trying, but...

Beautifully located on top of the amazing High Line and close to virtually every location, this is the perfect location for those who also love sleek design and retro style rooms with those amazing full height windows for amazing views day and night. We borrowed the free bicycles every day and had a great time riding in NYC. The rooftop bar is a must! Fresh fruit and popcorn as a welcome present was also amazing.

Only very minor things: Would have been nice to have not only still water but also sparkling water included in the 2 bottles per day. That's about everything I could think of as a netative point!

David the Manager at the front desk- his customer service was exceptional! He patiently addressed all our questions, provided excellent recommendations for local events, and just overall top notch customer service. The room was immaculate and spacious, with a breathtaking city view, cozy bed, plush black robes and even had in room speakers! Location was great with so many nice restaurants, shops and bars in the area (there’s a Starbucks minutes away which was a bonus)! If you’re into the nightlife scene, they also have a rooftop lounge with a 360 view of the city and a club as well. Without a doubt, we plan to return soon and we owe our wonderful experience to David’s exceptional efforts!

This was one of the best stays we have ever had and we travel around the world. The comfort of the bed was first class and the bathtub deep and comfortable. The location was more than I could have asked for!

There was one issues that was a draw back but would not keep me from returning and that was the main restaurant. The food was average at best and priced over the quality. And honestly the service was under par. I will not eat there again although I absolutely will return as a guest.

The location is amazing and once we changed rooms it was excellent

They initially upgraded us to a deluxe queen (which had a shower and a bath), but because of the shower the room is much smaller. After switching to a simple queen room we were much happier. Also, we insisted on a room on a lower floor because of the weekend the noise from the rooftop nightclub is terrible. On the 4th floor we didn't hear it at all.
