I was thrilled with the beautifully decorated, authentic-looking ambiance in the lobby, I love historic places like this. Was very happy with the room too. It's so cute. Although tiny (and I mean realllllly tiny), the room is very comfortable, well-equiped with everything you may need. And charming looking as well. It's like a snug little hut on a ship. I stayed here for 9 days/ 8 nights, and I loved it. The hallways etc. have portholes like on a ship. Plus, the shared bathrooms are cleaned multiple times a day.

I was disappointed to find the ballroom and rooftop terrace are not accessible to hotel guests. They are only open for private events, plus the ballroom opens as a disco/nightclub a few evenings per week. But you can't just sit there during the day, have a tea and enjoy, as I hoped. Quite disappointing - and in this respect, the hotel information and photos are misrepresentative.

I really enjoyed the overall concept of the Jane Hotel and the looks of it. Everything was arranged with much love and the staff was exceptionally friendly. It is located perfectly, close to the Hudson River Park, the metro and to some cute restaurants and supermarkets. Also there is a little cafe adjacant to the lobby and there is a system implemented designed to save power and to be as efficent as possible.

It wasn't quite clear from the description that there was no common room for the guests and that the big hall and terrace you can see in the pictures are reserved for exclusive parties. Also there were the same beard stubbles on the sink for three days. The toilets were cleaned daily if not more often.

Loved the location, history, and staff.(Shannon was great!!!) But, everyone we spoke to was polite and helpful. Friendliest staff in the town hands down. Great (cabin) room to take a rest and sleep in for a couple hours. If you're out and sightseeing all day this spot is for you. Probably not the best room option if you're planning on laying around all vacation long. They have a Captains room to my understanding, for a roomier/bigger space.

Got the room for my dad, who came to visit us from out of town. He mentioned that the bed wasn't the most comfortable. He also needed and would of appreciated an extra blanket option, he said he was a little chilly at night. But, didn't break his stay at The Jane. He loved it overall!

The room is exactly what you expect for the money you pay, which is more than decent even though really small, but it's still convenient. The location is more than ideal, being in the village and next to the Hudson river. Staff is lovely and always ready to help.

There a was a smell of cold smoke in the corridor the first days of our stay, but it eventually got away later. The shared bathroom on the 3rd floor would maybe need a better closing of the shower to avoid getting water everwhere. Also, would have loved to be able to go to the ballroom for drinks in the evening and meeting other guests of the hotel when not ised as a nightclub, just a thought :)

Beautiful old building. Our room was quite large by NYC standards. Furnished with antiques and a very comfortable bed. Especially loved the upholstered walls. Location is handy to the Village, Chelsey, and the High Line. Lots of neighborhood eateries nearby.

No major complaints. We would have liked to have a couple of cups in the room for water – not a big deal. Next time we'll bring bottled water with us. Will definitely stay here next time we're in town.

The staff was very nice. We loved the traditional outfits. The bathrooms were clean! And the perfect location.

We had to laugh about the room size. It looks slightly bigger on the pictures. But you need new beds. Some kind of box spring and new mattresses. My poor back.

Pretty decor. Nice shared bathroom. Very clean. The tiny rooms are very intelligently designed and equipped.

The beautiful communal spaces in the pictures are closed for renovation. You can’t control the temperature, so the room turns into a sauna if you don’t keep the window open (even in freezing temperatures!)

I found the room attractive, with wood paneling, marble shelf, overhead bed light, good cooling. The place, including bathroom, seemed spotless. cafe was convenient for morning coffee. Proximity to Hudson River promenade, which I hadn't known about, was major bonus.

Lack of mini-fridge was biggest drawback. Lack of a work desk or table was a drawback, tho cafe provided a place to set up computer. Some wall outlets in cafe for plugging in a laptop would help. Bed was a bit high for me. Elevator breakdown was a drag, since I;m pushing 80 and was five floors up, but it was prepared pretty quickly.

I've stayed a number of times previously, so knew what to expect. It has great history and character. The location is great too. I stayed in a single cabin room and my daughter & partner stayed in a double captain's cabin (en suite). The shared bathrooms I used were very clean and fit for purpose. My daughter's room was large, with very comfy bed and a private outside seating area - which was a nice surprise. The staff are very helpful.

I couldn't get the temperature in my room right. The radiator was very hot, so I had to have the fan running, which seemed a waste. Not too much of a hardship though!
