Gansevoort Meatpacking

The location is probably the best place to stay in NY. Neightborhood is full of restaurants, bars, stores, Chelsea Market is just a few steps, subway is reasonably close. The hotel is clean, stylish and has a cool low profile vibe. Room is above average in size with all you need for a confort stay.

They regularly close the rooftop for private events, restricting the access to the pool and the rooftop bar. So... if you came back to the hotel after a long day thinking about a cold beer with a view... Nope! The space is closed. And in that occasions, they put a bouncer by the elevator restricting the use of 1 of the 3 elevators.

This property is in a fabulous location. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. There’s a small fitness center downstairs which is well equipped. The roof top bar is great.

The walls are very thin and I could hear my neighbor on the one side coughing My room had connecting doors on each wall that was adjacent to another guestroom. On the one side, I could hear when the guests returned from dinner and we’re talking and getting ready for bed. On the other side, I could hear my neighbor coughing. Both sides quieted down at a reasonable time, and that hotel was surprisingly quiet at night, other than hearing water running from other guestrooms.

The room was very clean, and very quiet. It was a perfect accommodation for us. On Saturday night there was an impromptu block party out in front of the hotel which was loud, but it was also fun to watch from our window and they were gone by midnight. Every other night was the quietest I've ever experienced staying in Manhattan. They made up the sofa bed every night for us since we had three to our room. They were quick to bring towels and wash cloths when we needed them as well. The location is also very good. It's so close to the high line, little island, the West Village and the Whitney. Really it can't be beat. Plus the rooftop pool was dreamy!

Maybe the option for refillable bottles in the room for water would be a nice touch instead of the 8 dollar cartons on offer. It would also be lovely to have early access to coffee, like a Nespresso machine in the room. I know that's a whole other thing, but we did have to get up very early one morning before the coffee shop was open and it would have been a delight to have access to coffee at that ridiculous hour. But really everything was great, these are just nitpicky things. We easily found coffee and filled our own water bottles during our stay.

The staff. The young man who greeted us at the door with the best smile and positive energy (dreadlocks in a bun, white collar shirt, grey pants, white Nike shoes and Apple Watch). The pretty host in a yellow dress at the lobby was always nice. The waitress at the pool (the one who looks like Alicia Keys) is great and takes good care of everyone. The housekeepers, the food service staffs and my son’s favorite bartender Adam were all nice. (My son only drank orange juice, no worries!). The staff is excellent!!!

The A/C is not cold enough. The unit in the wall was loud and we could hear water running all the time. I do realize A/C is an issue all over New York so I’m not mad. Wish the pool hours were extended. Most families want to go explore the area then return to the hotel and relax at the pool but it closes at 6 pm which is too early for us.

Property is in a great location in Meat Packing. You are right next to the high line, and some important night clubs and great restaurants. Walking around the meatpacking you have a relaxed vibe away the hustle and bustle of other parts of NYC. West village, soho and Chelsea are all walking distance. Hotel has a great rooftop terrace for sunset drinks and there are lots of beautiful people who are drawn to such a spot. The pool is more for adults than kids so I wouldn’t recommend for families.

Excellent location at the heart of Greenwich village. Rooms were nice, clean and included amenities Rooftop is up above neighboring buildings and has an amazing view towards the Hudson river. Rooftop pool is clean and just big and deep enough. Staff is extremely helpful and assistive - big like to them!

Not too many facilities in the hotel. Saishin restaurant is relatively expensive but there was nothing amazing about the food served there. The view is incredible especially at night. Not worth your money - city offers far better Sushi restaurants for the same and even lower budget. The Chester is cool restaurant bar. Other restaurants in the hotel were closed for renovations.

Staff was great. Loved my view of the Hudson River across the Meatpacking District. Comfortable room. Amazing location next to the West Village and easy access to anything in New York City.

My stay over the weekend was loud - people talking loudly and running in the hallway after midnight. The traffic below in the lively Meatpacking District was loud on Friday and Saturday evenings but was much more quiet during the weekdays. Overall, I felt the price for the room is a bit on the high side - it's nice but didn't feel particularly special given price.

Rooms are great with a large bed and wireless speaker, mini bar, full size bathroom as well as a sofa, chair and coffee table. The room also has hard floors with an area carpet, which is always preferable to wall to wall carpet.

I think last time when we booked the same room it was slightly larger. Also, we booked for three people, but housekeeping weren't informed to put a third robe, or extra mini bar glasses. This happened the previous time I stayed here with three people.

The room was spacious and very stylish. The detailing in design and functionality of everything in the room was spectacular. The housekeeping does a great job with cleaning and the bath had all that one would need. The views were gorgeous. The roof top bar is where we spent all evenings watching the sun go down. The location is so convenient to shop, eat out and head to anyplace in the city. Serafina across was our favourite place to dine in the evenings. Dos dominos is another all time favourite. It is a very hip neighbourhood and with the Chelsea market, the highline and the little island all reachable within minutes of walking. The M14 bus around the corner was very convenient to reach all the places that we wanted to go. The staff was very helpful with all we needed.

Just because one has to find something- complementary drinking water in the room could be given for the room rate! 😃

This hotel is great. The room was big, the bed is comfortable and everything is very clean. The location couldn’t be better and it’s very quiet despite being in a lively area at night. It’s not a cheap hotel but when you compare it with the next level down for £200 more you get a lot more for your money. it’s right next to the West Village with lovely cafes and diners and a farmers market in the little park 5min away. if you can afford it, it’s worth paying a little more for this.

The barman in the rooftop bar is very rude and it took forever to get a drink. It’s a trendy spot so they need a lot more people!
