Leo House

The staff at The Leo House were possibly the friendliest I have ever met. Everything about our stay was enjoyable. The morning breakfast was delightful and the coffee was actually delicious. Thank you to the hotel for offering free luggage storage ... we took advantage of this both on arrival and departure days. The other people staying at the hotel were super friendly. It was a comfortabl-no-frills, surprisingly quiet, very clean and super friendly place to stay and honestly I'm not sure I'd even look for a different place for my next trip. The Leo House is a gem!

Great location; reasonable rates; courteous, professional staff; good breakfast included Mon - Fri; a walkable 8 blocks from Moynihan Train Hall (Amtrak) and half a block from a subway station. Three subway stops from the theater district. There’s an ice machine on the ground floor along with vending machines with reasonably priced sodas and snacks and with tables where guests could get together to eat food brought in. Good security. Sensible policies.

Third time at Leo House and definitely not the last. Warm and cozy atmospere, nothing that can be faulted if your expectations are realistic. The location is wonderful for both work and travel purposes, the price is hard to beat, the hotel itself is a story to tell. Great heating, several ways of accessing wifi (which was important for a professional stay). Thoroughly enjoyed having a full bath at our disposal, though the half bath is perfectly ok for shorter stays. Free hairdryer to borrow, printed boarding passes, positive attitude: issues are taken care of, staff is always present on the premises to see to the customers' needs, both clients and visitors are buzzed it, so that everything feels safe. Will always gladly return.

I missed the hot chocolate and treats of yesteryear - downstairs in the lobby - and I wish breakfast could be served at the weekends as well, even if not complimentary.

Nice common areas, very comfortable bed, clean, fairly quiet, good breakfast and an outstanding location. Bathroom was small, but functional, and more than adequate at this price point. Was able to leave luggage before checking in, which was helpful.

Certain staff were unresponsive and defensive when I questioned the $30 service charge added to my bill for using Booking.com., which was not in the confirmation I received for the reservation. First I was told that Booking.com was collecting it, then they admitted they were collecting it and that other people had raised a similar concern. Finally, I spoke to a manager, and she clearly had no patience for my concern. I was going to file a complaint with NYC Consumer Affairs, but would rather they just clarify their communication going forward. I otherwise really liked the place, and hope to stay there again.

MOST OF ALL WE LOVED THE YUMMY BIG FULL BREAKFAST THAT WAS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE ROOM. AND THE DINING ROOM WHERE YOU SERVE YOURSELF IS LARGE AND ELEGANT, WITH WHITE CLOTH TABLECLOTHS ON EACH OF THE TABLES. We got one of the rooms with a bathroom connected to it, which was nice, Instead of having to share a bathroom. The room was clean and comfortable. The two single beds were pushed together and very comfortable. We loved the charming little chapel...We attended Mass there since it was Ash Wednesday--I think they have Mass there almost every day. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Had to run the bathroom shower water for a long time (3 or 4 mins) before it turned hot, but this wasn't a big deal.

The location is exceptional for NYC. You are right on 23rd and the subway is 2 minutes away. Everything is at your fingertips without it being too overwhelming. So quiet by NYC standards but within walking distance of hundreds of amazing sites.

The rooms are budget but I was expecting that. As long as you know what to expect, you won't be dissapointed. I bought a kettle from the store up the road and was able to set up a tea/coffee station so it was fine for me. Just be prepared for that.

Amazing! It's a great value at a super location right in Chelsea. The room is smallish but it's everything you need (especially since you'll be out exploring NYC all day). Within a block of a major subway stop, a block from grocery stores, restaurants. This is really a gem and I hope to stay here again the next time I visit.

Can be noisy. Mainly I found that other guests spoke loudly coming out of elevator and walking down hallways. They could maybe put up signs or request that guests be more respectful in these spaces.

Have now stayed at Leo House several times and have stayed in many different locations on Manhattan. Very very reasonable price. Had a room with own bath/toilet. Meets the exepectations and requirements fully. Close to Subway station (A-C-E @ 23rd Street). Walking distance to much of Manhattan. Safe in the room. Excellent Internet. Basic toilet articles provided (shampoo, soapbar).

Be aware that there is not much sound isolation between the rooms, but the staff provides ear plugs. Not a dislike, but a small refrigiator in the room for cooling drinks (water, soft drinks or similar) would be a major plus.

Great location, subway down the end of the street and easy walk to a lot of places downtown. Nice building full of character. Complimentary breakfast was a nice touch. A couple of things from other reviews. No Air con - that gets installed in the rooms for summer season (mid June in US) Grumpy person on reception - give them a chance as you can end up having a laugh with them.

Check in seemed very long winded. Ended up waiting about an hour and only 4 in front of me....

Perfect position, close to the center, within 20 minutes walk, also the metro 3 minutes, Highline 3 minutes, the railwaystation 10 minutes. Very nice view from the window of my room, could see ever the Edge! The breakfast (7-10 AM except Sundays) is very varied and tasteful. The staff is nice and helpful. Atention to the Europeans: all the plugs are in the UK style, so bring a plug adapter!

Everything in the room is very old, a renovation would be useful. There is a toilet and sink inthe room, but the shower is shared with other rooms. Even everything is clean, the bathtub and the tap are from the time of the Declaration of Independence
