AR 218 by ULIV

We have stayed at AR 218 on a previous trip in 2019, and on this trip, we actually abandoned another hotel closer to Parque Mexico (Casa Decu on Calle Culiacan) in order to stay at AR 218 because the smaller, picturesque Art Deco boutique hotel had tiny, uncomfortable, full-sized or "matrimonial" beds and our very cramped and dark room faced an internal airshaft and was overall just too cramped and depressing to stay in. We recalled that AR 218 had king-sized beds, spacious rooms, and light with patios and balconies, and so we moved over to the AR 218 after just 1-2 nights in the other location. The location in Hipodromo is great (I actually think that the areas in Hipodromo beyond the parque are up-and-coming), the hotel is medium-sized and very clean and quiet, and the rooms are actually large studio apartments that you can work comfortably in. The king-sized beds are large and the amenity of air-conditioning is great for days when the air quality is bad or the temperature is too hot. The addition of a new, hot restaurant (Botanico) across the street was an unexpected surprise and we were very happy that we moved hotels to AR 218!

Because we were trying to get to a better and more comfortable room with more natural lighting, we paid extra to upgrade to a balcony king bed room, and when we arrived, we were shown to a dark room on a lower floor with no exterior patio or balcony. We explained our situation to the hotel staff, and they worked to get us the room we reserved (which was much appreciated for our week-long stay!), but because these rooms are limited, this should be noted very prominently on booking sites to avoid confusion - there'e no point in paying a few extra hundred dollars for a balcony room that has no balcony!

Location was grand, just a block or two away from the busy streets but still central to Condesa and easy to get around, with restaurants and cafes in all directions. Beds were super comfy, neither too firm nor too soft. They have free bikes for guest use, so got to bike around the city a couple days which was awesome! Great communication from staff, very accommodating to our requests, flexible, and friendly! Would definitely stay here again.

A bit noisy at times, seemed like thin walls as I could sometimes hear everything happening in the hall or the room next door, but not a dealbreaker.

Clean, modern hotel in a bustling and safe neighborhood. The hotel has very beautiful architecture. There is a Starbucks in the lobby. Rooms were spacious, kitchen was well stocked. Beds were comfy, Wi-Fi signal was great. Loved sitting outside on the patio. Staff was polite and courteous. Room was always left spotless after housekeeping tidied up. Definitely recommend this hotel!

Need better lighting in the rooms. The lights were very dim. The a/c didn’t cool the room very well even with two wall mounted a/c.

Really perfect location - in scenic Condessa neighborhood, which is full of restaurants and bars. A bit quieter than Roma Norte, but still walkable to all of the restaurants there as well. Three coffee shops right on the block which was great, esp since the hotel doesn't have breakfast. The price was the best we found in the area - highly recommend booking room A-21 - it had an enormous private terrace which was bigger than the room itself! Perfect for cocktails and down time after a long day of exploring CDMX.

Everything was perfect!

The hotel is very modern and clean. The staff were very friendly and available if we needed anything. It felt very safe. The location was a bit quieter than the hustle of Roma Nte for example, but that meant good sleeps and was still very convenient, coffee shops and EXCELLENT restaurants were very close (go to Ciena and to Saint!!) and the street was gorgeous. I walked around the neighbourhood a lot. I was very happy with the location and my overall stay.

The rooms could get kind of dark. More lighting would be very helpful!

A very pleasant hotel. Responsive staff, a good responsive security guard who will always help. The girl helped with the check-in, without knowing the language she explained clearly and showed patience, special thanks. The room is clean, excellent beds, comfortable environment, there is a large veranda on the roof, sofas, tables, sun loungers, a toilet, a canopy. Good WiFi. Near the reception there is a Starbucks cafe, security shops and cafes are within walking distance.

The location was excellent. I especially liked the bakery just down the street, and having a Starbucks right by the lobby was an added convenience. The room was quiet and commodious. I enjoyed reading and drinking coffee on the roof terrace. The staff was excellent and responded quickly to any question or need. I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

I can't think of anything that could have been better.

A very well situated hotel in La Condesa with many good restaurants around. The suite is very spacious with well equipped kitchenette. It is well decorated and has good amount of storage space. Shower has great water temperature and pressure. There's no front desk but only a security guard, however they were very helpful.

The bed was a little too hard and pillows were small and thin for a king size bed.

Spacious room, very comfortable beds, large bathroom. Kitchen had the basic for breakfast or light cooking. Starbucks coffee at the lobby is a super plus.

As we checked in after 8pm and one of the Air conditioning in the room was not working. There was only a security guard at the front desk that couldn't do anything about it. The room had a strong cigarette odor.

Staff is amazing: everyone so nice and friendly! Room was huge, well cleaned and quiet. Special mention to the bedsheets: amazing quality. Big bed too. Amazing shower with great toiletries. Kitchen could use a couple of silicon spoon/spatulas, but you can cook in it. I wouldnt go for fancy meals due to it being just 2 hobs, but all the basics are there.

Bathroom sink was weirdly placed - looked like a construction error... :D
