I’ve got nothing but praise for the hotel and its staff. The location of the Hugo can’t be beaten. It’s a very short walk to the Hudson River park; a very short walk to Soho and Tribeca and the lower East Side is also pretty accessible, as is Greenwich Village and midtown. It’s just perfect. The hotel has a very good bar on the ground floor. Unlike the ear-bleeding noise experienced on the roof bar, this bar is quiet and sophisticated. And last but not least, the staff (with one exception) are incredible. Housekeeping was very good and the rooms were always cleaned by lunchtime. The front-of-house team is led by Mike, who is without question of one of nicest and most professional hotel managers I’ve ever met. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We had a few issues during a stay with the water temperature due to a supply problem and something out of his control, but Mike and Gi Gi were consummate professionals and made sure we were compensated for our trouble. They were both so nice and friendly that we actively made a point of chatting to them both before we left the hotel early in the morning or when we returned at night. They are hospitality stars!
The lifts! I stayed at the Hugo five years ago when I got married in Manhattan. After that stay, I left a pretty positive review. I did mention what a chore it was waiting for the lifts and suggested that one of the two lifts be reserved for people staying at the hotel, while the other one could be used by people visiting the hotel to use the roof bar. Unfortunately, my suggestion was not adopted and I found the problem with drunks in the lift was just as bad this time as it was on the first. So, to anyone thinking of staying at the Hugo I would suggest that they request a room as far away from the very noisy roof bar as possible. If you do that then the Hugo is a very good place to stay.

we got upgrade deluxe king room, and decent coffee shop with recommended avocado toast for breakfast; front office staff very nice, also the person who is in charge for front man (bell-boy/concierge)
no sound proof room, we hear jet flushing toilet from neighbor’s room; Keurig coffee maker did not working well; got mineral water Fiji about 300ml when check-in only (by front office staff); housekeeping left the “working in progress” outside handle door even-though we back to hotel after midnight, looks they were not finish their job yet; not by walking distance from central city.

Overall it was a good experience. Smooth check-in and check-out. Room was clean. It is a bit hidden but the location was not bad. At night it can get a bit quiet in the area. It is close to soho and the meat district which have nice shops and restaurants close by. You have the chelsea market close to the hotel which is worth going and doing a guided tour. The history of thar part is quite interesting. However it is still a good 15-20mins from Times square. Another neat thing is that the hotel has a bar on the terrace and the ambiance was pretty nice at night.
I'd recommend switching their small plastic water bottles given to guests to something more sustainable. Same goes for their body wash and shampoos. It's a tad expensive for what it is but I guess you're in NY.

Our room was clean and comfortable and being on a higher floor, noise form the street below was reduced. The location of the hotel is convenient if you want to be in walking distance to Soho, the West Village, Tribeca and you don't want to be in the hustle and bustle.
The room was small to fit 4 people, very little space to open luggage etc. The safe in our room didnt work and the handyman who came unfortunately was not knowledgeably about how to fix it. It became an hr long collective ordeal on how to get it open. Besides that we didnt have any service issues and were pleased with our stay.

In general, the hotel ticked all our boxes. It was exactly where we needed to be. It is well located and a short walk from everywhere. The hotel is hip with a lovely roof terrace. The rooms was a decent size for NYC and everything was well distributed. Staff was friendly when approached, but I didn't feel they went out of their way for me. No information was given upon check in about hotel facilities; i.e. gym, restaurant, roof top etc. I did ask for recommendations one day, and again none were offered....."walk down Spring street & you should find something"- felt a little lazy. I also had asked for a map, which the you were out of. They are little details, that if addressed would absolutely elevate the hotel; but would we stay there again? Yes we would.
A little more customer engagement- recommendations as to hidden gems, places to eat or shop would have been much appreciated. I think I saw the concierge in the lobby once.

The 2-level roof top bar was great. There were days that one or both levels were booked for a private party, but we were able to enjoy the view and great cocktails a couple of times. The beds were comfortable, and the shower was clean and worked well - which is not always the case in Manhattan. Not so far of a walk from the Village or the High Line.
Street sounds - but only when the windows were open. We did that for one night when it was cool outside, which felt great, but wow - so loud even on the 12th floor! With the windows closed, however, it muffled the street sounds pretty good.

Excellent location, close to the metro and to Soho's restaurants and bars. Room size was great, comfortable beds, coffee machine with free capsules. In general, the cost-benefit was great.
The shower was not working well (not enough water pressure, I think it was kind of broken). The cleaner did not show up in the second night and we think the hotel can improve the cleanliness of the rooms in generals (including the room carpet that we very).

Our room was spacious (for Soho) and comfortable. The location was great - we had a view of the water from our room but also only a short walk to the busier parts of Soho, West Village, and Tribeca. Appreciated the cafe downstairs and the rooftop upstairs. Best of all, Gigi at the front desk was amazing - she was very friendly, cheerful and accommodating.
The rooms looked a bit old, the rug in the room was not the cleanest, and there was no ice machine.
