voco Times Square South, an IHG Hotel

4th visit to NYC but first stay at the VOCO. Great location within walking distance from Times Square, Empire State, madison square garden. Hotel had everything we needed and was clean, I managed to get a good deal at £500 for 3 nights, also there was no resort fees that some other hotels charge. Would definitely stay again.

Location is superb and very convenient to stay in terms of Manhattan.

breakfast is not at all good, pre book the room and not any breakfast. have breakfast across the road in Crowne Plaza

Location - close to Times Square & Subway, perfect for access to Newark airport (Penn Station 8 minutes walk) Room size - generous, especially if you apply NY scale. No need to climb over each other to get out of bed and a seperated bathroom incl. sink inside (!) (does not come natural in NY) Generally very clean, room has hard flooring (no scruffy carpets), quiet (for NY standards) and great value-price relation

Beds - much, much too soft, feels like sleeping in an uncomfortable hammock Front Desk Staff (sometimes) - from extremely nice, helpful and friendly (Michael) to snippy and unpolite - depending on the day

Hotel is clean, doesn‘t smell. All employees are friendly. Inside the hitel you barely hear the other guests.

The location has its problems. 36th west between 8th and 9th ave is a place for junkeys. There lay ppl on the sifewalk you see them setting a shot of drugs by needle, you see them building a shelter for night. Most seem harmless. My 15y old had an unfriendly encounter. The street is quite noisy. I needed my headphones with active noise cancellation. The windows to the 36th street could be much better if renewed.

A very pleasant and value for money stay in the center of Manhattan. Getting to the hotel was super easy, as central station (Penn Station) is a 6 minutes walk. Many central Manhattan attractions are within walking distance so we used the Subway only to get to Uptown or Downtown Manhattan. The room was not big, but it was more than enough for a good night rest. Nice and tidy hotel lounge, where you can enjoy your breakfast/drink. There is the option to purchase snacks at the ground floor and there is also a coffee machine, however, they cost minimum 5$ each. There is a water fountaian where you can refill your water bottles for free. Would definitely recommend the hotel for travelers with a budget who prioritize spending on New York attractions rather than a luxurious hotel stay.

The hotel has 25 floors and 2 elevators which are not programmed to run efficiently in my opinion. Sometimes we had to wait for more than 5 minutes for the elevator to arrive, especially during busy hours in the morning when people check-in/out.

Amazing location, very close to metro and Times Square. Breakfast included was a great option. Beds are really comfortable, air conditioning is a life saver there. Room service amazing, clean room and bathroom always. Free coffe maker and free safe in room. Also TV with few channels.

Sitting area for breakfast is very low. Usually you don’t have space to seat and have to wait standing till you get a chair. Advice you to go early morning. The bad thing is also that personal working in bar have different rules, one day they allowed us to take hot chocolate for breakfast another they asked us to pay extra. Every day different. Breakfast are very limited anyway, just few options and portions are small. Also bad thing is that there is just 2 elevators in all building. Sometimes you have to wait few minutes, annoying especially when you with pram and small kid and can’t use stairs. There is no fridge in room 🫣 imagine 36 degree outside and all drink in your room boiled ! Ladies working at the desk should smile more as they are first you can see and it is very important ;)

Staff were great. They made me feel welcome. They were able to hold my luggage until the room was ready (I arrived early). The facilities were clean and modern. The room had a mini fridge and coffee maker. They also included two refillable water bottles and a bag with snacks with a welcoming note.The location was awesome and very convenient. It was close to many iconic places in the city, public transportation, restaurants, and shopping stores. I also felt safe as they closed doors at 9:00 pm and only guests have access to the hotel. A room card is also needed to access the elevator. Bar and restaurant also at the hotel in case you preferred to stay in.

Even though I was on the 21st floor, the view was not great. There is no microwave in the room or closet. The room was fairly small.

The room is amazing and super clean, the bed I think was one of the best beds I've ever slept in my life. the location is perfect for those who want to go to Times or fifth avenue. The staff are very attentive and polite.

The negative point is that breakfast is not selfie service you need to ask for and you are entitled to only one order and it takes too long. on the first day I waited more than 1 hour for my order and on the second day I found out that not everything on the menu was included. The carçon kindly offered me the cappuccino I ordered but he said it wasn't included. Also, the resort fee cannot be paid in cash so I struggled to swipe one of my cards, but the front desk guy was super patient with me. I also couldn't put Netflix on the TV.

The reception staff were very helpful, especially on check in when my case hadn’t arrived. We never had enough coffee for three of us though and when we rang down it was hit or miss if any turned up. Reception was clean and tidy, we’d seen comments about the lifts as there were only two, but didn’t find that an issue.

The rooms were tiny to hold two double beds. if there’s more than two of you in a bed, one needs to climb down the bed as both beds are against the wall and share a tiny bedside table. There was a hanging rail which was 6inches long (it seemed) and there were no hangars. we had a chair at a desk with no mirror so to save space we put the chair in the bathroom which had space!

Excelent location, a few blocks from Times Square and plenty of options for food. Very good bathroom, with shower and no bathtub! This is amazing. Walking distance to Port Authority Bus terminal and to Penn Station, what helps a lot every single day. Water / sparkling water available to customers; Praise for the cleanliness of the rooms, the quality of the shower among other good points.

Sometimes you have to take the elevator going up in order to then get down, because there is 28 floors to be attended.
