Hampton Inn Manhattan - Times Square South

location to Times Square and other things we wanted to see

after leaving Times Square, the walk down 39th from 7th is not great. two different occasions of passing someone shooting up right on the sidewalk. when we asked the hotel for recommendations as to if there was another way to bypass some of that they replied “it’s New York City”. we did finally figure out on our own that simply walking down 39th on the opposite side of the street from the hotel felt WAY better.

Excellent location and close to the 42nd Street subway. Rooms are clean and comfortable but quite dated. Didn't mind that and the breakfast was OK with a hot and cold selection with plenty of variety. We were pleased our $150 deposit was paid back a few hours after departure. Very good location in heart of Midtown Manhattan. Excellent value hotel for the money

Only 2 lifts for a 32 storey building so sometimes you wait a while for lift then it's full and you need to wait for next one . Also it's used by staff as no service lift. It's no big deal as we weren't in hurry as we are on holiday in fabulous New York. Great priced hotel. We will return and recommended to others in England.

Clean, comfortable, quiet and well-priced room in a very nice location. Free hot breakfast is always a plus, and the staff were very friendly and professional.

The elevators get extremely congested as check-out time approaches. I ended up missing my train because of an unexpected 10-minute(!) wait for an elevator. There's not much the hotel can do about this (neither of the two elevators was slow or out-of-service, they were just very busy), so all I can recommend is to check out as early as possible. As an added bonus, by doing so, you'll also avoid the crowds for free breakfast.

The hotel is only a short walk from Times Square. It has what you need as a crash pad especially if you plan to spend most of your trip out and about like we did. The breakfast was pretty good - lots of variety so we managed to have something different each day of our stay. The staff were really friendly and helpful when needed.

The room is fairly small and there were various noises when the hot water/heating was on. The lift was a bit and slow and temperamental but we took the view that for the price that's inevitable particularly in the heart of the City. The dining room did get pretty busy by about 8/9am (go earlier) and with only one waffle machine it takes a long while to cook your own waffle. The hotel ought to consider 1 or 2 more waffle machines really. Plates are paper plates and cutlery is plastic. I appreciate this makes things easier for clearing up but it's a struggle to use the cutlery for some foods.

Location for hotel was a plus for our visit. City view from the room was great and it was above expectation. Staff was super helpful and very nice, really appreciate their Professionalism and Support during our stay.

Room size was just adequate and could be a little bigger for a family of 2 kids and 2 adults. We experienced a little crowd during breakfast time due to small breakfast area. Waiting period for elevator was little longer than expected specially during breakfast time.

Friendly efficient staff. Good breakfast. Staff at breakfast all great. Lifts speedy. Room clean bed comfortable. plenty loo roll shower gel replaced when needed. Good location all round great first trip to NY.

Leave others to moan. I couldn’t find fault with anything. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone looking in this sort of price range.

The day receptionist went out of her way to help. Breakfast was great. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. The location was excellent.

The night receptionist was not as helpful as he could have been. He reluctantly gave me teabags at my request saying it wasn't his job and I needed to request them at breakfast. I had a problem with my curtains and tried 5 times to contact reception but he never picked up so I ended up going back downstairs. Maintenance came to my room to assist me. One of the lifts was not working and the second was very temperamental and being on the 27th floor I was worried but it was ok.

The location is fantastic for exploring New York. The beds were comfortable. The staff at the reception was nice. The wifi was very reliable.

At the time we stayed both elevators worked so we didn’t experience long waiting time. The rooms are small but you know what you book so no complain here. However the rooms weren’t spotlessly clean at the time of our arrival so taking under consideration that cleaning is done every fourth day the rooms should be prepared better.

Excellent location close to Times square, subway network. Rooms on the small side but comfortable and clean, at the end of the day we don't spend much time in the room other than to sleep and shower. Breakfast was adequate not amazing and limited choice, but enough to get you off to a good start for the day. All members of staff we encountered were welcoming, friendly and helpful.

A cup of tea in bed in the morning would of been more than welcomed.

property was warm and comfortable. Staff were friendly. Particular mention to Jonathan Mercedes , night receptionist, he made checking in (very late) smooth and was really helpful early in the morning when our scheduled airport taxi didn’t show! He was concerned for our safety and welfare and this meant alot!!

Breakfast is really busy at peak time- from 9 o’clock. Go earlier and you were fine no queues and plenty of tables.
