Maybe the stairs that may not suit everyone.

Good value for money for New York. Easy direct 4 stop subway to Times Square. We were a family of 5 and had a family room with 3 beds. Very compact with little luggage space but comfortable, very clean & modern, great shower, delicious coffee in the mornings and friendly staff. Shopping on Broadway a short walk away and loads of food options surrounding the hotel. Excellent bagels at a convenience store nearby which we enjoyed for a cheap & easy breakfast. We liked being away from the chaos of Times Square.

No lift but that is clearly mentioned so we were prepared - and the staff were very helpful with this.

It was tough to find affordable accommodation for 5 people. This was a great find and in a safe location. The room was a bit small but it worked well since we only needed it to sleep, shower, and get ready for a day in the city. All of us were happy that they offered coffee and tea in the morning. We didn’t ask for room service to come in every day but we did ask for things here and there and they were all very professional. The front desk receptionists were amazing. Also, having a place to store our luggage after check out was a great perk! Lastly, the decor of the hotel is amazing. Loved the interior design and dark wood.

The only thing that could improve is better dusting and cleaning. The AC was clearly dusty and potentially moldy, while the ceiling fan was also dusty.

The location was excellent - close to tons of food options were all around the hotel, and public transportation was close by. We saw people staying here with young kids, and I'm not sure I would choose it for that since there was a bit of a party atmosphere. However, sound proofing was also great. We also slept well.

It's small- that's all. But that's pretty typical for New York and all big cities. Biggest problem was the bathroom not having any storage or enough hooks or plugs. And lighting could be better in the rooms.

The staff at the front desk were all great and very pleasant to work with. Our family of 5 did the basics family room and it was verrryyyy tight in there for us. I would recommend the deluxe family room for 5 people for the extra room. Still a great value. Absolutely loved the proximity to Chinatown and Little Italy. Good walking distance to a lot of attractions and close to subway stops. Best value in New York

Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, while the hotel had a lovely atmosphere and plenty of spaces to hang out in the lobby and other spots. We loved the location in a nice and safe area at walking distance from public transport and some of the places we wanted to visit.

Being spoiled with usually spacious rooms (and bathrooms) in Australia we found our room a bit smallish for 3 people, but everything is relative of course. The many comfortable and inviting seating areas dotted around the hotel provided enough space for a bit of privacy outside the room to make up for it.

We had a great stay at Sohotel. The rate was exactly what we had booked on Booking. The room was very nice, well appointed and roomy. Nice bathroom and great showers with nice quality toiletries from a old pharmacy in the West Village. Nice touches like a good umbrella, a safe and a tote (which we were not sure if we could take home, we would have loved to!). Fantastic location to stay to discover the city. No elevator - whih we didn't mind but some may want to ask for a room on the main floor.

Beds were a little... little. Felt more like a full than a queen. Would have loved some coffee making amenities in the room, since by the time we got to the coffee station in the lobby it was sometimes empty.

I checked in very late, after midnight. Willis, the front desk manager, was SO helpful and friendly. The key cards weren't working but he got me right in my room and I was able to get one later, gave me a free water and carried my bags. I was totally exhausted, so all of this kindness went a long way. check out is at noon - which is great, and the place is cutely decorated. The rooms are very basic, but mine was quite large for NYC, with 3 double beds in a row. Shower had good water pressure and the location is fabulous if you want to shop, need a subway, love cute cafes or just want to experience living in the lower east side. I used to live right down the street, so it was like going home again.

For some reason, on that Wednesday that I needed a room, EVERYTHING was crazily priced. My normal hotel, the Nolitan, was $800 instead of the average $220. I opted for this hotel because it was $450. I'm going to check what it is normally, but hotels may have just gotten crazy $$$ in NYC. The rooms here aren't worth $450. I didn't have a choice. All being said, if it was cheaper, I'd totally stay here again. I'd say this is a great option at $150 to $200/night for NYC in the LES. Clean, cute, friendly, well situated. It's basic and feels a little like a hostel with private rooms, but totally doable and if you have a family, the 3 beds are great.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The location is amazing- walking distance to Little Italy, Chinatown, great shopping and restaurants. The room was comfortable- we were on the 3rd floor facing away from the street and couldn’t get over how quiet it was. Everything was very clean, and the AC unit got the room very cool very quick (essential given the heat outside!) The staff was also very friendly and helpful.

Check-in wasn’t until 4pm, which is later than most hotels I’ve stayed at. Our room was ready when we got there at 1:30, but they wouldn’t let us check in early unless we paid $60, which seemed like a bit of a cash grab.

the staff wasn't friendly. They did what was needed but without a smile and they seemed to be bothered by us as guests. We arrived at the hotel about an hour and a half early and they said that even if our room was ready we'd have to pay $59ish if we wanted to check in early- have never had this happen. The woman checking us in and then out seemed like she had other things to do that were much more important than being friendly to a guest.
